Santa Claus takes the place of God in the holidays.
Similarities between Santa and God:
Quality of Santa Claus #1:
Santa Claus has some pretty awesome powers that cannot be comprehended by the human mind. How can he deliver gifts to every "good" child in the entire world in one night?
Quality of God #1:
God is the only one whos powers are awesome.
Quality of Santa Claus #2:
Santa Claus is omniscient. He knows when your sleeping, when your awake, whether you've been bad or good.
Quality of God #2:
God is the omniscient. (Ps 139:1-6; Prov 5:21)
Quality of Santa Claus #3:
Santa Claus deserves to be praised and sung about during the holidays.
Quality of God #3:
God is worthy of praise. (2Sam 22:4,Ps.101:1)
Quality of Santa Claus #4:
Children must be good all year, or they will not please Santa Claus.
Quality of God #4:
A person ought to aim to please God, the creator and judge.
Have a merry Christmas and remember what it is all about.

My foundation is not built upon a particular church, what I do stand on is the Word of God. What makes me a fundamentalist is just this - not that list of insults showing nothing but the ignorance of the person posting it. My sole authority is the Bible.
dantheman...in response to your question about homosexuality - ever hear of the story of Sodom and Gomorra? Ever read Romans chapter one?
Romans 1:25,27 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.If anyone has any questions concerning salvation and the Bible, feel free to e-mail me.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

1 John 5:12 "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."

Believers and their "Free Will" Dogma
by JT inone of the most interesting dogmas found among believers is the concept called free will- on the surface it starts out sounding reasonable, until you start the ask questions and listen to the explanations that are given , after awhile you realize it has no legs to stand on.
we are told by believers that god allows each person to make thier own choice and we are not robots and therefore we are able to exercise free will, the only problem is when you ask the question, what about when someone exercises thier free will and it harms someone else, why would a loving god allow someone the free will to hurt someone innocent, at that point free will sounds more like an excuse to give god a bye in terms of having to do anything- i read this posters comment and i couldn't for the life of me see any logic or reasonablness behind the concept of free will when folks get hurt like this person has-.
one of my earliest memories is of my grandfather raping me.

Isn't God's word enough to convince you of what he wants, Danny Bear? Without it, you have no true foundation. Biblical teaching is that God is loving and merciful. He is also a holy and righteous judge.
We are not guilt-ridden messengers of doom and gloom, we are proclaiming God's infinite and wondrous grace to a wicked and rebellious world; which God, through no works of our own, has pulled us out of. I deserve hell; but God, the loving, merciful and righteous Creator, saved me. And anyone who comes to Him, He will not cast out. This is not a message of doom and gloom, my friend, this is a message of good news, hence, the Gospel. I do not proclaim to be guilt-ridden, I proclaim to be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb! The guilt is gone, Jesus took my burden of sin away.
However, those who reject God will get what they deserve; which is an everlasting punishment. I am a messenger of the Gospel, but in order to tell someone how to be saved, you have to tell them what they are being saved from.
Christians [who are right with God] are not miserable creatures. They are perfectly satisfied with serving the God that saved them.As for you view of the Bible itself, it is obvious you have not studied it for yourself. In what instance is the Bible not clear about an issue? It contains plenty of plain meaning.

rebel,
You said:
"why is the Bible so hard to understand? Why does it have so many things in symbols which everybody can interpret any way they like?"
If a person reads the Bible and sticks to it as their only authority, they will not be far off interpretation wise. Yes, Revelation is a hard book to understand, and I don't think there are any two people who agree completely on its interpretation. But, fortunately, the interpretation of Revelation has nothing to do with the fundamentals of the faith.
Here are five things clearly taught in the Bible:
1) Jesus came to earth in the form of a man, died on the cross and shed His precious blood for sinners such as you and I.
2) He was resurrected on the 3rd day, and some 40 days later ascended to heaven, having the preeminence over all things. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
3) Everyone is a loathsome sinner, deserving of hell. However, Jesus took that punishment for us - and whosoever repents and believes on His name shall not perish, but have eternal life. God's grace is greater than our sin!
4) No one will seek God on their own - He must draw that person.
5) By works, no one can attain salvation. Salvation is of the Lord - by grace only.
There are many doctrines in the Bible that are clearly stated. To say they can be interpreted in a number of ways is just not true. You said:
"I thought I had them once but now I find out I was duped by the WTBTS as well as the Catholic Church. There must be some answers somewhere."
Two big no-nos. You see Rebel, both of these organizations hold tradition as being of greater authority than the Bible. There are only a few churches that truly hold the Bible as the supreme authority. And you are absolutely right - there are answers. Just look into the Word of God.

Donkey, just because you don't acknowledge God, does not make Him go away. "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God."
"I have racked my brain for the past year as to how I can show believers such as yourself that they are under a 'spell'."
Tell, me donkey, where is the LOGIC in doing this? Why rack your brain? If we are so deceived, why bother? What is it to you?
The fact is, you hate God so much that you just can't stand anyone who believes in Him. You have such a bitterness toward the Bible, that if anyone finds happiness in it, you have to shoot them down. You have to insult and devise plans to try to prove to them that God doesn't exist - just to appease your own self. A Christian doesn't want to hear what you have to say. A true Christian has the very spirit of God dwelling in them, and you will not turn them from their God. This frustrates you.
The more you deny God outwardly, the more you will suppress the knowledge of Him, and your conscience will not bother you. It seems you have to prove it to yourself that God doesn't exist.
If you have so little regard for God, and no conscience about it; why not just live your life, and let Christians live theirs in what gives them happiness? -

Hello spinner,
I hope all is well with you.
First off, I never use the New World translation, which is completely corrupt. I stick to the King James.
Salvation involves these two things: repentance, and trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior. Good works follow after salvation, which is the evidence of salvation. Jesus says "ye shall know them by their fruits."
Bible teaching is that all who trust in the law for salvation will not attain it. Salvation is attained entirely by the grace of God.
As for the sabbath, it was a sign for the old covenant, in the new covenant, we are to worship on Sunday, the day that Jesus arose from the dead.
Hebrews 12:24 "And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel."
1 Corinthians 16:2 "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
Acts 20:7 "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."
Like I said above, salvation cannot be attained by good works. No one can keep the law; the law was made to show us that we are sinners.
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
2 Timothy 1:9 "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,"
Romans 7:4 "Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God."
The Book of Galatians deals mainly about this topic.
Galatians 2:16-19 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
Galatians 2:21 "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."
Galatians 3:1 "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?"
Galatians 3:10,11 "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith."
Galatians 3:17 "And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect."
Galatians 3:24 "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."
Galatians 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." -

Donkey, I didn't even read your post through. It is apparent that you not only have a bitter hatred for the Bible, but you are very rude as well- having no respect or anyone or anything. What I said to you did not deserve such slandering. Surley there is nothing to gain by insulting.
It seems to me that the Word of God has really convicted you and has made you bitter. I hope that God someday opens your eyes to the truth. Jesus died for sinners such as you and me, and He will not cast anyone out who comes to Him. If you have any questions concerning salvation, feel free to e-mail me.
Sincerely,
MikeMatthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"
John 15:17-19 "These things I [Jesus] command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
