Watchtower 62 6/15 pp. 380-383 Avoid Unprofitable Questions ***
Avoid Unprofitable Questions
HAVE you noticed how frequently the apostle Paul alerted Christians to guard against speculation and unprofitable questions? To Timothy he wrote: "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories." (2 Tim. 4:3, 4) In his letter to Titus, Paul warned: "Shun foolish questionings and genealogies and strife and fights over the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile." (Titus 3:9) Elsewhere the apostle cautions Christians to avoid "philosophy and empty deception," "idle talk," "empty speeches," "falsely called ?knowledge,"" "false stories," and "strange teachings."?Col. 2:8; 1 Tim. 1:6; 6:20; 2 Tim. 4:4; Heb. 13:9. (...)
ABUNDANT KNOWLEDGE
Today, in the spiritual paradise enjoyed by Jehovah?s witnesses, the divine promise has come true: "Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant." (Dan. 12:4) (...) Yes, from Jehovah God, his Word and organization comes the instruction that enables Christians to walk in His paths, worshiping the Father with spirit and truth. (John 4:24)
UNPROFITABLE USE OF TIME
Handling God?s Word of truth aright requires that we discern between profitable and unprofitable questions. Naturally we have questions about the past, present and future. In the Bible Jehovah has provided authentic answers to the questions that properly concern us at this time. Sometimes secular history can fill us in on details not given in the Bible. But there are other questions to which neither the Bible nor profane history provides an answer. It is not wise or safe for us to speculate about questions of that nature.
For example, in all good faith one might ask, What was Jehovah doing before he created Jesus, by whom he made all other things? If Adam and Eve had repented, would God have forgiven them? What happened to the bodies of those who perished in the Flood? Did the expensive gifts brought to the babe Jesus make Joseph and Mary rich for the rest of their lives? What did Jesus do between the ages of twelve and thirty besides his carpentering? How would Jehovah have redeemed the race if Jesus had not proved faithful? Exactly how long did Jesus? trip to heaven take? Much time could be spent conjecturing on such matters.
THE DANGERS
A Christian who indulges in speculation from the platform or in group Bible study tends to attract undue attention to himself. Personal theories can cause division of thought and even lead to disputes about trifles. Ones newly associated with Jehovah?s congregation might be stumbled by what would appear to be a lack of love and unity. (...)
Your avoiding speculation and unprofitable questions will demonstrate your meekness and willingness to await Jehovah?s due time to provide further information on any matter, if it be his will. This he can easily do by further enlightening our understanding of the Bible, by bringing to pass events foretold therein, or even by resurrecting the dead with their detailed knowledge of past events. By waiting upon Him and his organization all of Jehovah?s servants will speak in agreement, being "fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought," to his praise and our eternal welfare.?1 Cor. 1:10. -

We may think of study as hard work, as involving heavy research. But in Jehovah’s organization it is not necessary to spend a lot of time and energy in research, for there are brothers in the organization who are assigned to do that very thing, to help you who do not have so much time for this, these preparing the good material in The Watchtower and other publications of the Society.

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

Talking with JW Elders possibly..
by bradford inas i wrote in a previous post i have recently written a da letter to the elders and haven't heard anything in the way of an announcement, phone call, or visit since.
i called the elder the letter was personally written to yesterday and left a vm to call me back which he did this morning.
he said they did get it but were meaning to call me and possibly meet with me to try and see if there was anything they could do to encourage me because they of course find this very sad.

You have experienced one of the dishonest and cunning tactics the the Governing body
has set out to the Elders that they must meet you with 2 and not a single elder.
This is so that they have a witness to what took place (each other) and you
don't . They then can say anything happened or was said.
Watch the re reaction if you simply say "I'll meet with you both but I will be recording it
for my records" . This is simply so you also have a witness to what went on .
Elders acting in their official capacity have no expectation of privacy.
They will say you can't record them and not give you any cogent reason.
Elders in this type of situation who do not want to be recorded are dishonest.

25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

How many members left the Watchtower because of all the Hatred and Anti-christian behavior? Were you exposed to betrayal, lies and slander against your family?
by PokerPlayerPhil ini am trying to wrap my head around 2014 and all the evil we experienced while the elders and overseer said "wait on jehovah because that's what all the true believers do!
" and i explained it's too painful to see the wicked people who brought my family suffering giving talks and providing other witness families with instruction we are to use when the end comes.
why are the quite members those who get treated like trash while members who call down evil upon the organization get everything they want so they will keep their mouths shut?.

My experience both personal and from talking to many others . Is that
the abuse we suffered eventually caused us to be able to finally do the
research on the Net that freed us.
