My Job Interview Today

well, it went sorta shaky today i guess.

this is a temp service job interview and gives job placements for those who match interests between employer and employee.. i told the interviewer that i am deaf and can read lips, but problem was he wasn't making it easy for me.

Blondie - Yizuman, finally, a topic I am an expert on, psoriasis.

Oh happy, happy, joy, joy!

First, are you going to a dermatologist. Psorasis is very unique, not like any other skin condition. It is a case of your skin cells growing too fast. Normally, it takes about 29 days to get from the bottom to the top of your skin. Psorasis takes 3 to 4 days and is usually red because of the quick growth.

Haven't been to a dermatologist in a long time since I was last dianostic with Psoriasis.
Yeah, like them little repair guys going into overtime and doesn't know when to quit.

I use Dovonex on the areas off my face. This is a Vitamin D ointment that can only be obtained through a prescription. The cortisone products can be too harsh on the face and Dovonex is not recommended for the more tender skin on the face. There is a Vitamin A prescription cream too. A dermatologist can confirm if it is psoriasis and determine which product is best on your face. There are some medications like Methotrexate that can be used for severe cases but this medication has some severe side effects.

scootergirl - have a Doctor's Book of Home Remedies and looked up psoriasis.......here is what was said:
Lubricate w/emollients. Emollient can be your favoring nonirritating body oil or something as mundane as vegetable shortening or petroleum jelly. Most effective when applied right after bathing when you are still "dripping wet"
Seek the Sun (hard to do this time of year)

Well, at least let me borrow your sunshine attitude as well!

- A cold water bath, maybe with a cup of apple cider vinegar added is great for itching. Another thing is ice. Dump ice cubs into a small plastic bag and hold against afflicted skin
- cortisone.
- Seal off psoriasis. Cover lesions w/tape or plastic wrap for days or weeks can help clear up psoriasis, especially after cortison creme applied first.
- Destress yourself. Overwhelming evidence that stress can trigger.
- Add fish oil to your diet.

Hmm, interesting ideas, I may have to try some of them. Don't know about all of them though.

So if the child was wearing thick diapers and would have only had a red bottom as opposed to bruises then it sounds to me more like spanking rather than beating. Granted that spanking has become semi-controversial, the use of it should be left up to the parents rather than to self appointed social police.

Yes, the same was said in Indiana back in 1987. But today, there's more stricter laws on the subject. This subject on spanking is still up on the debate floor. Some Indiana School Principles have gotten fired for paddling school kids when they were bad and some parents sued the Principle for it as well. Some even got fired just for scolding the kids and they ran to their mamas complaining what the Principle said to them. Teachers included.

Some people don't believe in spanking or scolding their children because they believe it destroys their self esteem. I've met kids who have never been spanked or scolded for any kind of wrong doing, from my observation and I am sorry to have to say this but, those unspanked/unscolded kids are major brats. I cannot understand how a parent can put up with kids with a wild and nasty attitude out in the open and in public. It's embarrassing and quite annoying as well.

Some folks can say, "Kids will be Kids"....that may be true in some degree, but certainly I was not like that as a 4-5-6-7-8 or even a 10 year old. My mother would not put up with that at all. She knew better than to allow me to carry on with that kind of behavior.

On the contrary Ozzie, I've seen it firsthand in 1987.

I know of Ex-JWs that I have spoken to in the ex-jw support groups told me stories about the spankings and beatings that happens in their KHs.

I had a friend who visited the KH near his home in Indianapolis where he once lived and have seen a kid with his face all black and blue. Naturally he reported it because there was absolute evidence there. The cops came in during the next meeting and found the young boy as exactly as described. The parents were arrested on the spot and the child taken to protective custody. Nobody likes to break up a family, but in this case, it had to be done.

In my case, I knew the child would not have any bruises from the spanking she had received. It would only redden her buttocks and the father could explain it off with something. There just wasn't enough evidence on my side of the situation other than if I had a camera on hand at the time, preferably a camcorder since it can show exactly how hard the father was swatting the child's buttocks covered with a very thick pair of diapers. So my hands was tied with lack of evidence. It's my word against his.

As for someone suggesting that I should have taken action. I could have taken action, but it would have been all for nothing at the end. No jury in the world in this situation could convict the father for the spanking he gave to his baby daughter. I on the other hand would probably have ended up in jail if I had intervened. I despise seeing defenseless children being severely beaten for any reason.

I'm not 100% against spanking, here's my take on this subject...ONE SWAT ON THE BACKSIDE IS ENOUGH! No more!

My mother swats my backside ONCE when I am caught in the act of the wrong and she hugs me afterwards even when I get upset and angry at my mother for swatting me and make a huge fuss about it.

Unfortunantly, spanking is not a 100% cure all for any kind of bad behavior. Kids who grow up to become adults can still be jerks regardless of the upbringing. I know, I was there, but I'm not a jerk anymore. I grew up some more and is wiser. I will not forget the love my mother gave me contrary of how I treated her as a teenager.

Xandria - Yes, I do understand your problem with people staring at psorisis. As a child I had it on my arms on the bottom from wrist to elbow. It would flare up and itch badly. At first the doctor thought it was an allergic reaction. But after I treated it with Pine Tar Soap, sitting out in the sunlight helps, hydrocortisone also helps the inflamation and redness. You may laugh but slather some of that on and place a plastic cover over it. Helps the hydrocortisone absorb and soften the skin. It helps calm the scales of the skin. Stress also can start flare ups.

Yes I have been stressed out as of late. Especially during my financial hardship that I am going through. Also I think that my depression may have a factor on it as well.

When I hit puberty the Psorisis went away. My sister, she got it all over.. in spot like a leopard. Poor thing she would go swimming and people would literally get out of the pool thinking she had something contiagious. She put on some smelly creams. Now they have more medicinal creams than before. They have faded some with her, but when she gets too stressed.. watch out.

I have faced a simular situation like that before, it's not even funny, I can attest to that.

UV lamps are good to a point. If you cannot afford treatments or tanning booths then just sitting out in mother nature's tanning salon with a reflector may help also. Hope that helps.

Perhaps your "sunshine" attitude could also help as well?

Yizuman, Until you can get a script for the cream, over the counter hydrocortisone cream 1% may help a little. It's only a few dollars in the supermarket so it's worth a try.

Well, I'll see how it goes after I make my budget tomorrow when the direct deposit comes in from work. I may not have anything left after I send $130.00 to my landlord to try and get this month's rent caught up. I just bought gas and food today on my way home from the interview using a check and knowing it won't get cashed until Friday or so.

Outlaw - You need to wash the affected area,and apply some Keri Lotion or Vaseline Intensive Care.Rub it right in,till the lotion you have applyed disapears.Either can be purchased at a pharmacy.That should take care of the problem..

I tried those, they do not make it disappear permanantly unfortunantly.

The best medication I have tried is called Diprolene (linked) and it has some steriod based medication on the cream. They're like $60-$80 dollars a tube. Very expensive and my medical insurance doesn't start until January 1st. I have to be employed with Wal-Mart for one year before I can start having medical/dental insurance. I've never seen a company with that kind of requirement for that long period of time. Most places have like 90 days of employment before starting on a health insurance.

So I liked to have that medication, but at the moment, I can't afford it.

Psorisis will always be with me for the rest of my life, the medication can make it go away for a period of time, but they will always come back. At least to me in my case. Some others get it for a short period of time and never comes back.

My mother had it on her elbows for a while and they never came back since.

Someone also mentioned about laying down under a UV Ray light at a Sun Bathing Spa or something like that. Some folks said that they never came back since that kind of treatment. I like to try that, but again, money issue comes up.

Maybe if I find a well paid office job, I could finally afford some kind of good treatment.

Oh, by the way, did you know that Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver also has Psorisis? He's also sponsering a skin research organziation and have donated charity to the organization in hopes they can find a cure for this type of skin problem. Cool for him!

I really hope I land some kind of office job. I feel burned out from this retail type business and dealing with irrate customers day in and day out has gotten to be a bit too much for me. There's been times I almost lost my temper and would have lost my job on the spot, but I didn't. I came pretty close. That's when I realized it's time for a change.
