  Far fewer references to lesbians

  i notice that while a search of the wt library reveals many references to homosexuals, there are few references to lesbians.. does the wts include women when it uses the term homosexual?.

  when discussing masturbation, does it mention both sexes?.

  i am asking out of pure ignorance, seeking clarification.. my only comment is that religion of every shade has difficulty with the subject of sexual activity, as if it were something that is not part of nature.. doug.

  Since 1986 the term 'lesbianism' seems to have been used only 4 times in Watchtower literature and the term 'lesbian' 11 times.

  'Homosexual' 68 times.. and 'homosexuality' 142 times.
  

  So it seems they think the boys are at it more then the girls.

  Living forever

  someone on facebook posted john 3:16 where it says people will live forever.. not that i believe it, but i just cannot imagine this.

  this, to me, would be the true hell.. if i'm very lucky, i will live to be 100. at nearly half that, already some parts of life no longer hold much interest to me.

  even tv shows.

  I feel genuinely sad for all those brilliant minds who used their whole life to study and research one single subject - such as the functions of the brain - but die in old age, never having got the answers.

  I agree.. but all those brilliant needed was a few hundred years at tops. Try a trillion, billion, zillion years and then some.. no subject at all is that fascinating it can keep you busy for eternity. An eternity of research and study simply working out the wonder of how everything works? That sounds like 'Awake Magazine' syndrome where intellectual research is the only purpose to living and being 'Awake' only means knowing how everything works..

  Is it not often true that once you take a thing apart and discover how it actually works you remove and kill the awe and wonder of it?

  'For all those brilliant minds'.. in a world where everyone will be perfect there will be no more brilliant minds as each person will have an equally brilliant mind. I can see that too losing its novelty very fast. Smart asses everywhere. 'Brilliant mind' is a relative term, invented by those that are dense and stupid. Once everyone has one there is no more brilliance but only norms.
  

  Even being with 'loved ones' endlessly seems over rated. An eternity with the wife and kids? Really? Most people I now have trouble spending more than 24 hours with their spouses and they can't wait for their kids to bugger off and move out.

  GodZoo, multiply 8 planets out of which 1 has life times 100 million and you'll get an idea of what lies ahead. Our little camera thrown out in space by a bottle rocket is no match for the pulse nuclear spaceships and the thousand mile wide space telescopes of the future.
  By the way, that scripture you cite is not in Psalm 27 which doesn't have a verse 39.

  Psalm 37:29 "And the righteous ones inherit the Earth and dwell upon it for eternity.

  As near as I can make out our purpose now is to live holy (displaying the fruit of the Spirit) lives to the glory of God. By faith, I accept that just as we have purpose here on earth, using our gifts to enrich self and others, God will further enrich us for roles/tasks in eternity.

  Enriching ourselves and others is finite and at some point logically will be complete. You can only 'enrich' so far before you hit saturation point. Then once everyone reaches perfection and 'tears are no more' and God 'satisfies the desire of every living thing'.. there will be nothing else anyone can ever do for anyone else as you will be completely content and satisfied in every way.

  What then?

  As for 'tasks in eternity'

  That work task is equated with some pretty life numbing and banal synonyms: job, duty, chore, charge, labour, piece of work, piece of business, assignment, function, commission, mission, engagement, occupation, undertaking, exercise, business, responsibility, errand, detail, endeavour, quest, problem, burden.

  Sounds Like an eternity of elder given assignments. I can not imagine anything worse.

  Tenacious:

  I agree with Village Idiot in that, and this is considering planets and stars still, to this day, continue to be formed, we might eventually become space travelers exploring other planets, stars, and galaxies.

  We are doing that already and so far they are all lifeless, cold and dead and unable to support any form of life.

  We should also not forget that the Bible itself clearly contradicts this fantasy of space travel and galactic exploration.

  Psalm 27:39

  'And the righteous ones inherit the Earth and dwell upon it for eternity.'

  
  

  The idea of never dying and living for eternity does have it's appeal but not for any of the reasons organised religion or fantasy theorists offer.

  but it unfortunately happens - among JWs and nonJWs.

  It amazes me when people make almost excusing statements like that saying that JW's are just the same as everyone else and that it's basically normal that these abhorrent things happen among them too.

  Well actually it's not normal at all.. because 'normal' people are just that.. 'normal'. But JW's claim to be God's chosen select people, they claim to live by the very highest strict moral code, they claim to be led by the Holy Spirit and that they dwell in a spiritual paradise of a worldwide loving brotherhood where children can live protected in safety and security. The average 'non-JW' make none of these claims.

  They are always blowing their trumpet saying that they are the only good people on earth.. the only true honest people on earth, the only ones who do not go to or support war etc, the only ones educated in God's loving righteous ways.. God's Holy, separate and special people'.

  But when it becomes apparent as the Australian Royal Commision has made glaringly clear they are just as sick, perverse, twisted, hypocritical and corrupt as the those they constantly condemn they fall back on: 'Oh but these things happen in other religions and groups too".

  I think we can safely say that most here in this forum know that to be an utter load of bollox.
