Reform from the grassroots level...where do they start?

It is difficult to know where the grassroots should start

.......blood.........shunning..........faulty prophecy.............intrusion into private areas of life......authoritarian 'leaders'.........cult of personality of GB members......financial demands.............and on and on

The Titanic has been mentioned...some crew members on the ship did try to raise passengers from their sleep and warn of the imminent danger...in this scenario if you warn of the imminent danger they throw you overboard without a lifebelt.

I know some genuine ones stay in the hope of change..........with the grip of control which is far greater than any Dictator can wield the WT has no need to change, has no intention of listening, is always able to 'throw out' any questioners and drag in new unsuspecting ones.

Simple point is "are JWs Gods Organisation on Earth?" - to answer yes blasphemes God as he surely is not responsible for the WT shambles over dates and the points listed above.

.....and that's why i hate, dislike, can't stand, anyone that used to be an elder???

..........after reading so many "bad elder" stories, i can understand why some might feel that they were just one of the rank-and-file and were treated poorly vs. someone like an elder that could have authority and try to intimidate those that they felt they could push around.

I regret my years as an elder - what a waste of time and energy - I was left draned and destroyed from trying to helping the 'publishers'

Regularly WT magazine said "if you have a problem call an elder" " the elders will help" "elders are waiting to help you".

Many publishers enjoyed their "lowly" status as it was in some way that they were superior as I and other hard working elders ran around after them like scalded cats. Never again - what a theft of my familys time.

Yes I regret supporting the WT and disfellowshipping people etc as an elder and yes I do feel responsible for my actions.

as in previous years, the material presented was dull and repetitious, so once again, i was forced to provide my own entertainment.

Not all JWs are paedophiles!

i read some reports (infact the majority) and they seem to imply all jws are paedophiles!

seldom do they draw the distinction between the majority (who are not peds) and the few who are.

perhaps we need to be more balanced when we comment on these things...dont cha think?.

Community Responsibility

Yes WT teaching is that if no witness is possible due to the state preventing it etc then the community is responsible for the state hence responsible for their own actions and so reprehensible. It is ridiculous as the average citizen has zilch chance against a dictator / the apparatus of the state etc yet this is how WT views the matter

So in WT speak if you are a chinese citizen who has no 'preaching' of the kingdom available then it is your own fault if you are shuttled off the earth at the Great Tribulation - you are held to be jointly responsible for the states actions.

Absolutely correct.

Elders are not competent to handle such matters (most elders are just plain not competent)

Sadly the majority do have to share what the Watch Tower describes as COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY - as with the explanation of how the majority in China have no witness given but suffer destruction at Armageddon because of Community Responsibility. etc etc

The JW community never applies such matters to itself but the members should - they must have collective responsibility for the actions of elders / judicial committees / the Governing Body

Knowing about incidents of paedophile activity is not that widespread among JWS BUT they shoulder as a group the responsibility for what is allowed in their name to happen and that is a responsibility thay tarnishes each and every one of them - no they are not all paedophiles but they ARE ALL responsible for allowing the present situation.

As with all things WT it depends on how the pendulum is swinging at the time.....

Elders have been told ....

" take a hard line, you are taking too hard a line, be balanced (i.e. take a hard line), look at the sin and not the sinner, too many are getting disfellwoshipped, not enough are getting disfellowshipped etc etc at every circuit visit / circuit assembly elders meeting "

It largely depends on where you live (WHY? shoul not truth be universal) ..but it does .. are your local elders humans or fanatics? Is the current circuit overseer a thug or a human? What influence does any one fanatic elder hold over the body... all are sadly relevant which goes to show how Holy Spirit does NOT work

Scriptural answer is works of repentance..but who is qualified to determine what such are and to what level a person has done them.

As has been said earlier.. dont bother...it is really not worth it

Any thinking person could read only a few comments on this site to get the message that this is not the 'mother' organisation speaking

But then most JWs are not thinking people as they have undergone years of thought removal. To merely be surfing is almost a DF offense so no one should worry about innocents abroad here being sucked in.

Just as an aside the forum is a credit to Simon and his helpers.. any JW who is sucked in unawares DOES have plenty to think about when they leave this site.

who owns the KH/ asembly halls?

just curious as to who has legal ownership of the kh/ah.

most kh/ah are built with free labour and the loan for the hall comes from the society, which the cong then repays - hence the question.

In the UK congregations have a Constitution which basically says that if wound up the assets will be passed to the WT Society of Britain, no provision exists to repay/distribute funds to members.

Society can at will 'close' congs or merge them as the Constitution allows this.

Assembly Halls are even less open - used to have an annual meeting for the elders in the area served and accounts were sent to each cong involved, then acounts were 'available' to see via the CO.....now no news of the financial affairs of Assembly Halls at all.

The owners are the 'trustees' who are technically and should legally be independent however that means nothing as they are directed what to do via the society appointed Assembly Hall Committees - If a Hall closes the funds etc become WT property with no redistribution to local congs.

Nice work if you can get it.
