by grumpy inhello everyone.. i am doing a school project in which i am supposed to gain more understanding about jw.
well, i thought, what better way to gain more knowledge of jw than to ask jws themselves?
so i will list a few topics, and those who feel like helping me can tell me about them, in detail, if possible.. .

Go to their Official Website and do the searches - or Media area. Its from the "horse's mouth" there. BTW, when I did my school projects, I did the research myself. I for one, ain't supplying your answers.

Unexplained mysteries, did you ever experience any?
by JH in.
i was just wondering if any of you have any stories about unexplained mysteries, like seeing a ufo, or anything that you would consider unexplainable.
please share your stories.

Mulan - weird. That happened to one of my siblings. Exactly the same thing you described. She told me about it, and I believe her.
Which book did you read? I've read her "The Other Side and Back"... very interesting book. Out of all the "after death" theories out there, I hope its reincarnation. That one appeals to me.

I saw the Ogopogo. We lived in the Okanagan in BC for quite some time. One morning, over breakfast, our family saw him. We lived near the lake and had a huge window overlooking it from our dining/living area. Some try to say it could have been a boat, log, school of fish, etc. BUT it wasn't. We were all in awe, and I'm just thankful that there were others with me when we saw him. We looked at each other - like... did you just see what I saw???? Crazy. I had never really believed in it until then.

The Sin of Sodom & Gomorrah in the Bible and Jewish Tradition
by Leolaia ini'm starting this thread to post some of my articles that originally appeared on a jokes thread which should probably better appear in the "bible research & study articles" folder.
so here goes...... what was the sin, or sin(s) that sodom & gormorrah was judged for?
the original account in genesis actually does not say.

WTS Says Non-JWs will be SAVED !!!
by Amazing inclearly, anyone reading this watchtower society response to a "frequently asked question" on their jw-media site would conclude that jehovah's witnesses fully accept that god will spare non-jws through armageddon and grant them salvation.
all that one has to do is take a "stand for truth and righteousness" before god's time of judgment.
therefore, as former-jws, hence also non-jws, we have absolutely taken a stand for "truth and righteousness" such as exposing the criminal behavour of the watchtower leadership and their policies, such as their program that acts to protect jw child molesters.

I opened this topic on BeliefNet, and since there are lots of non-witnesses, the JWs tried to "water down" the message:
http://www.beliefnet.com/boards/message_list.asp?boardID=28082&discussionID=309678
They kept saying that only Jesus could judge... blah, blah, blah...

The problem of Noah's flood and the origins of the Indo-European languagues
by badboy injehovah's witnesses say noah's flood happened c.2000bc.. interestingly a possible problem arises with the origins of the indo-european languagues b/c, which linguists have calcaluated(sp?
)2 have originated about 8,900 years ago using a cognate database, hittite being near the root of the ie family followed by tocharian ,greek and armenian.. there4 the ie languagues spread with agriculture in2 europe arriving in scotland 5500 years ago.. question?.
how will they explain this?

This Is So Weird----We Don't Miss Even A Little Bit----Our Being Witnesses!
by minimus inmy wife and i were talking today about how we just don't miss the meetings, the service, the association..... we miss nothing.
she's been a jw for over 25 years and i've been for more than 45 years----and once we simply stopped going, there was no sadness, no questioning our decision.
it's almost like we are carrying on as if we were never witnesses.

Ditto for me. Don't miss anything! I love my evening, making breakfasts on Sat & Sun morning. Being a regular person. I don't miss the day-to-day "if I do this am I doing the right thing" - eg. at work B'day cakes, or the other day, signing all the X-mas cards.
I love the freedom. I will never take it for granted, and hopefully, I'll never give it up again.
