he has threatned to burn our houses down.

Hard to celebrate holidays after leaving the Org.?

for those of you who grew up in 'the troof', after leaving, did you find it hard or uncomfortable in any way to celebrate holidays and bithdays since you had no ties to them whatsover?

if so, how did you deal with it?

I am an inactive Dub and would love to celebrate Christmas with my wife and 3 kids. My kids who are all under 11 would go for it, but my wife how is also inactive would not. That kind of puts a damper on everything. And plus the risk of getting caught by Dub family and friends and the eventual df'ing would definitely not be worth it.

i read somewhere that jw's celebrated christmas up until about the 1930's.

is this true, and where can i find more information about this?

Check it out in the book by the WTS "Jehovah's Witnesses-Proclaimers of God's Kingdom" (1993). On page 200 you will see a christmas celebration with J.F. Rutherford sitting at the head of the table! That picture was taken in 1926.

Hooray, My wife is getting out!

it's semi-official, my wife is serious about leaving the witnesses.

things are moving so fast and i had to repost the following.

it fell to page six over night and i was hoping someone had ideas on how she can get out of her study without probs.. repost from last night:.

Now wait a minute. Are you saying that she's studying with the Witnesses? If that is the case, and she is not baptized, then she is not going to be df'd at all. All she has to do is tell the person she's studying with that she wants to take a break and think things over. And thats it!

Devil's appearance in WT literature

i just got the october 15th 2002 issue of the watchtower magazine.

on pages 8 and 9 we see a caption reading " jesus firmly opposed the devil".

jesus is standing there pointing at a slouching, hooded man.

You're right. I've also heard of many reports of this kind of stuff. You would think that if we are protected by Jehovahs how they would leave us alone!
