I'm a pisces so if I want to relax I get wet. Meaning bubble bath and a book, of course.
I have a sign I put on the door "perfect bath in progress, don't even think about it" to keep out anyone who might mistakenly intrude.

WHAT would YOU do? Teen issues.....
by onlycurious inmy oldest daughter is a handful.
she has a mouth that just doesn't seem to stop and today we got into it .....again.. well, after a bunch of crap coming out of her mouth, i smacked her on the arm and told her to quit the talking to me that way.. then, it got worse when she kicked me.
geez, how would you have dealt with this kind of thing.. i told her i'm going to send her to a camp this summer where they put her on a giant kite (parasailing) and make her fly off a cliff.

You know I think they get some of the disrespect stuff from watching TV. It's constantly on and they start to figure that is how they should act. My daughter is almost convinced she is supposed to hate me as a rite of passage or something....I tell her, hey lets try to buck the trend, shall we?? hehehe that makes her laugh.
I feel sorry for em, it's tough growing up for them too.

ADVICE PLEASE. No lit for ex-JW - I have to put an ultimatum to my wife.
by jambon1 inif it is true that it has been announced that ex-jw`s are not to get the study watchtowers, then i must put an ultimatum to my wife.
i look through the wt's at the moment to gauge any radical teachings that i may need to counter with my 2 kids.
if my wife rewfuses to give me the 'secret' wt's then im afraid that it is the end of her taking them to the meetings.

As a parent you have every right to know what they are telling your children. I wouldn't feel comfortable with my child being taught "secret" things to keep from me. Actually I would probably feel a bit more strongly than not comfortable. But I would probably wait until I knew for sure that is what was going to happen before I got to stressed and pissed about it.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, there is enough pressure raising kids w/o adding stuff like this in the mix.

Sonic Drive-In's free Root Beer floats
by Jim_TX inwell, last night (thursday), from 8pm till midnight, sonic had a free root beer float for anyone who went.
we being my wife, her son and her mom.
we first drove over to a local sonic.

Sonic is one of the things I'm gonna miss when I move I love the drinks there and the onion rings are to die for! Didn't know about the float though, shame too cause my daughter and I were out and around last night and could have stopped and got one. Oh well maybe next time!
I remember the frosty baby mugs from A & W as well. Good memories!

Mine isn't a teen yet....but I'm counting down months.
I'm not big on the hitting thing (though I did my share of butt popping when she was a toddler) but I can't say some kids don't need or deserve it. The few times we have gotten into fights I usually walk away, go take a nice long bath, relax and then we discuss things more calmly. She is a lot like me and after a bit of down time is usually pretty reasonable.
Is your daughter more like you or her dad?
Edited to add that sometimes her dad is better at reasoning with her than I am and I turn it over to him....how is her dad with her?
