You cannot live forever in paradise on earth

the watchtower society has, for about seven decades, been attracting new volunteer workers for its field ministry with the promise of life forever on a paradise earth.

even the titles of its main study books since 1968 bear the promise: the truth that leads to eternal life, you can live forever in paradise on earth, and knowledge that leads to everlasting life.

how logical is this hope that leads people to entrust the watchtower with their time, energy and worldly possessions?

i read in a forum in spanish that there is a strong rumor spreading in the corridors of the wt.

has anyone heard anything about this??

the change that is emerging is this: the great crowd has not yet appeared, and it is a group that comes out of the great tribulation.

Listener, you said : " The great crowd is not saved at all, rather they are ones who have survived the GT."

How can you say that? Doesn't Revelation 7:10 tells that the GC says “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.” How come you say the GC isn't saved at all when the GT is over?

E-Watchman Is Shutting Down His Forum

I posted on his forum. I guess since many of us aren't agreeing with his ideas, he felt that the forum was no longer serving the purpose of supporting his work. That's very legitimate, since it was him that it was paying for its maintenance.

In the meantime we decided to start off another forum in the same spirit of the old one (a place for JW's who don't necessarily agree with the GB).

or so says the person who left this comment on jwsurvey.org.... what just amazes me is how people can pass judgement on others, make vast sweeping statements and make out that they know best.

this isnt just based on this page, but other pages ive read on this website.

while youre at it why not just say all black people are criminals, all asians are rapists and all white people molest their children.

The problem with us, JW's is that we receive subliminal training to be acritic.

Desguised as "submission to the theocratic arrangement" and "double respect to the leading ones" and "trust in Jehovah" and His "earthly organization", we have become devoided of critical thinking. This tool would be so useful in defending the Bible and Christian beliefs. Because the more you question, the more you get answers, and new questions and then again new answers ... it's an evolving process. And in the end you may arrive at very different conclusions than where you have started. But when you DO arrive to conclusions, then in your head you can rest assured that you're standing on solid ground and then you can defend your beliefs, whatever they are.

The problem with us is that we are taught to let the "organization" do the homework for us. Why bother reading worldly authors? The "slave" has done it for us, harvested the good bits and served them for us to digest. In doing so, they, the spiritually invincible ones, get exposed to the spiritually harmful ideas and stay immune to them, while we, poor souls devoided of spiritual immune system, can stay happy, sheltered in the aseptic organizational bubble.

We let this happen because we PRESUME they're honest. Intellectually honest, I mean. Problem is - they aren't. Or at least, they haven't been. I don't know how this generation "post-Jaracz" of GB members think. I am yet to see a book like "Creation" or "Trinity" or some other that heavily relies on external quotes coming out off the print in their era. I can only hope that they are more "internet-aware" and realize that they can no more get away with the intellectual dishonesty.

i'm typing on an iphone (pardon any random weird iphone auto-spell corrections) and could walk home to get to my laptop but i might lose the courage to post what comes to my heart to share right now.

worse and more likely, i'll simply not be able to express what i felt right now... if i wait until i have a proper keyboard.
