congregation i linda kersey was forward and aggressive and oversexed before age 14 and i was still a virgin--age 15 then i made good the gossip mostly with the worldly dudes..got hitched to lisas pappy now decd and another story and chapter in my book the one i aint writ yet..got unhithched when sweet lisa was about 7 yrs old..have been celibate and single mumy since--22 yrs now..i sleep in a single bed alone--i made my bed now i must sleep in it..that is the way iy is folks..i told mine now tell yours!!!

What Its All About - Lurkers
by Amazing inits all about lurkers: there are at least three main types of lurkers, 1. a jw with doubts, concerns, feeling that something is wrong with the religion, 2. an ex-jw who is caught between two worlds, and does not feel free yet to live a normal life, 3. a non-jw who is either involved with a jw, or a relative of a jw, or is in the middle of being studied with by the jws.. defining moments: everything we write, say, and do is observed by the lurkers.
in a single moment, or a series of collected comments, we will eventually cause a lurker to have a defining moment ... a point in time where they decide that being a jw is not for them anymore, or that they can stop living between two worlds, or cease studying, and not join the religion.
we may never know who we help, or how many.. flame wars and character attacks: when we get embroiled in these, whether we are the instigator or the brunt of the attacks ... what are we really doing?

While there are no guarantees of accuracy, the net puts one into contact with a much larger circle of experience.
case in point: I called my son to ask him to help us with our reluctant-to-start '90 Honda Civic SI. He checked the computer code according to factory instructions. No results! Then, he typed "'90 Honda Civic SI hard starting" on the internet. We read reports of individuals experiencing the exact problem. They said the computer was wrong. Don't expect any help from Honda. This is the problem. We followed their suggestions. Vroooooooooooooooooooooooooom!
The internet can work in a similar way for troubled JW's.

evidently, the gb considered the merits of this proposal, deciding to stick with the view of this generation that was current at the time.. this little tidbit affected me greatly, moving me to order coc.
that such a whimsical, ludicrous concept would be entertained by grown men, let alone spirit-directed men astonished me.. as an elder, if a brother had approached me with this idea, my inclination would have leaned toward his having serious mental health issues.. .

Appreciate all the witicisms and the Biblical perspective of aChristian, but wish to give this baby another ride.
Did any current or ex-JW not feel even slightly bemused that the governing body would in 1980 seriously consider adjusting the understanding of "this generation" up another 43 years to eliminate the embarassing uneventful prolonging of time?
My gut feeling is that Albert Schroeder orchestrated this attempt at changing doctrine. He had already made statements two years earlier in talks given in Europe that conflicted with the Society's understanding. Also, he was the governing body chairman at that time and would be responsible for the meeting agenda.

by teejay infor exjws (and jws, too), simon's forum is one of the most interesting and potentially beneficial sites on the entire internet since it's a small-scale version of life as it really is.
people from a variety of social, racial and national groups who make up an extended familytied together by a common history of life in the borgcome to share their day to day experiences and openly debate issues old and new.. as different as we are, breakdowns in communication happen and instead of learning something or getting a fresh way of looking at an issue, what should be a reasonable debate turns into an insult-fest.
people, some still hurting from bad experiences as a dub, get hurt even more and bitter feuds result that are felt for a long time.

First of all. . sorry about injecting silliness into a serious thread.
OK, off the top of my head:
Words like “braindead” are hard not to take literally. Either, all brain activity has ceased or never existed.
As JW’s, we liked to use the phrase “willful ignorance”, referring to persons who had access to info that could have redirected their life, but chose not to access it. We may have stopped short of calling them “evil”, but saddled them with all the responsibilities associated with willful wrongdoers.
Years pass. We find that we ourselves have been willfully ignorant, by our own definition.
So, based on my own experience and my own self-estimation, I would be inclined to agree with you and stop short of prematurely labeling anyone or anything.
