Phizzy-Of course Paul here and elsewhere is selling the Scam of Sin* and invented Remedy for Sin which apparently can be inherited. * "Sin" is an offence against a god, since no gods exist, or ever did, there is of course no such thing.
A Christian arrives at the same conclusion that sin is nonexistent thru the grace of God.
In the end (as always), the real issue is will you, a human being and inferior recognize God or not?

JWs believe that Jesus and Jehovah are two separate persons, and that it was Jehovah who raised Jesus from the dead.
This is what all Christians believe. That God the Father raised God the Son from the dead.
They do not believe that they are two facets of the same being, or that Jesus returned himself to life.
Neither do Christians. Christians believe that the Father and the Son are two different beings sharing the same essence. It is thru that essence that Jesus could say he raised himself.

SB- The Watchtower and every JW that I have spoken with denies that Jesus raised himself from the dead. Was Jesus lying?

When Jesus spoke of raising himself, it is understood that 'himself' is referring to the essence of God. But even that essence had to be separated into the form of Jesus as man (from the Father who always remained alive) in order for him to really die.
Jesus the Son still depended on the separate Father to raise him up. But because they are both of the same essence of God, Jesus said he raised himself. In reality the JW belief is not utterly different from just about all other Christian belief regarding this (even tho JW also claims to be innovative on this).
The issue is in the understanding of this 'essence' of God and not necessarily on the technicalities of how the resurrection of Christ actually occurred, which is something that no human will ever truly understand.

becoming a more authentic “mainstream” Christian denomination would effectively neuter all the things they’ve held up for decades as hard proof they alone have “The Truth”… …the WTS’s entire raison d’etre, from their perspective. Either way, the incentive to be a JW becomes further eroded.
Indeed it will be very, very tricky to say the least. But all signs point to a transformation being in effect.
In the big picture, Christianity is divided between Catholic and everybody else (protestants). It's interesting that in mainstream protestantism there are still vast misunderstandings about Catholic doctrine in addition to all the official protestant doctrines. JW would truly not have a difficult time finding a seat on that protestant table. Keeping the prominent use of God's name and its insistence on earthly paradise along with its continuing opposition to the Catholic church could be enough to differentiate itself from others.
Birthdays, blood transfusions and even use of the cross are all incoming changes (as none of these are biblically prohibited).

Perhaps in words for public consumption, but from what I have been told it is even more black and white that if one is not baptized as a JW, and then for all intents and purposes worships the governing body as if they were collectively god himself you are bound to be turned into "burnt hotdogs.
This may be stated by JWs that don't truly pay attention to these changes for one reason or another. Or by hard-core JWs that won't accept that it's no longer required to be a JW to be saved.
This religion has a complex task ahead. To change into a mainstream Christian religion from a doomsday end-times one. But they're laying the foundation with every little change made in last couple of years.

After Jehovah “[executed] judgment on all the gods of Egypt,” his people were joined by “a vast mixed company” of non-Israelites. These foreigners may have turned to Jehovah when they saw Moses’ warnings about the Ten Plagues come true…
This is a very significant thing JW is stating. First, it relieves them from having to keep looking out for the start of the 'great tribulation'.
Second, it does away with the hard-line claim that you must be JW to be saved. In essence they've taken the same position as all other Christian religions.

Very interesting. This 'new' understanding essentially nullifies the claim that you can only be saved if you are a JW.
They use the account of the 10 plagues in Egypt to demonstrate how a pagan Egyptian (with no knowledge of even God's name) was saved by deciding to follow the Israelites at the exodus by virtue of the plagues alone.
JW has apparently realized what all other Christian religions understood a very long time ago. "one faith" is not one religion.

That phrase is lifted from a pseudonymously written epistle offering an excuse for the destruction of the world to not yet have happened as promised. It amounts to the very same thing as the WT overlapping generation drivel. The writer of 2 Peter wasn't renouncing the destruction of the world but by indefinitely delaying the promised destruction for the sake of a vaguely defined greater good rendered the original promise effectively meaningless.
I believe slimboy was referring to what happens to the soul upon death. The end of our physical life, not the end of the world.

Most all Christian faiths speak a good game about peace but harbor fantasies of hellfire or world destruction.
It's not in human nature to desire suffering or destruction on others. Notice how non-believers question Godly punishment and how believers have difficulty with it too.
But tribalism is indeed part of human nature and it clearly permeated into religion a long time ago.
on a trip to rome a few years ago i asked my friend (who is roman and jw) what the catholic faith thinks of jw.
he simply stated that jw is tolerated by the church but that really not much thought is given to them.

On the surface it may seem that way. But if you can accept that Jesus transmitted a measure of responsibility to an imperfect human man in Peter and the apostles, then the entirety of that imperfect human aspect of Christianity must be studied.
And it truly doesn't take long to see the extensive connections between those early Christians and what came to be identified as the catholic church.
