thought perhaps some newer members who haven't heard some of hassan's thoughts on mind control might relate to this from their own experiences in jehovah's witnesses .

even though mind control is initiated by the cult involved in controlling it's members - hassan points out - it actually becomes a psychological disorder which can entrap the victim himself or herself - all the while - as they are being controlled by the leaders of cults.. on page 55 of hassan's book " releasing the bonds - empowering people to think for themselves " it states what happens in a destructive cult , " in a destructive cult, the locus of control shifts to the group or it's leader .

the new recruit abdicates his ability to make decisions.

You are if you are disfellowshipped..or your Mom was, you would be disfellowshipped..removed from the family unit! = CULT..

Course you could also be shunned / kicked out of family unit for speaking your opinion=CULT

How can the WTS be short of money ?

so the society have a hedge fund, some(50%) shares in a usa company who specsialise in weapons delivery systems , has a shares portfolio that includes cigerettes.it buys up real estate in one of the worlds most lucerative locations ny,uses free labour to refurbish these properties along with its tax free status and then sells them on at a profit.it further extends it real estate portfolio by lending money at intrest ,for the building of more kh, again built with free labour and tax breaks, which are never owned by the cong,s who built them, but belong wts.

i am not an economist,though i would be hard pressed to come up with a better economic model than this, also it purports to be politically nuetral, so hopes to operate globally without restrictions, infact the (workers) have to pay the society ,by way of mag sales and donations, in order to give their free labour, no trade union protection or minimum wage.

g--gle, p--si,ya-oo, micro---t, would kill to have these advantages in the market place..

Seems like they are in the same financial situation as the Government..and we know where their money goes..

Politicians have deep pockets as do some of the Higher execs at the WTBTS...

Funny how so much alike the two are considering..

I Guess I Don't Matter

i'm pretty upset.

my sister just asked me if my ex bothered to mention that both of my kids were announced as publishers last thursday night.. nobody said a word to me.. i just called my ex and told him that i was pretty furious - at least he apologized which i have to say, i have heard the words 'i'm sorry' from him about 5 times in the 14 years we we married.. anyway, i'm sad.

the kids didn't even bother to tell me... i would like to think that means it's not important to them... but with a sinking feeling i think that i'm what doesn't matter..

Jehovah's Witness answer to same question in 2008: (Numbers seem to have gone down since then)

A 2008 survey of religions by the non-denominational group Pew Forum showed that the Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religion. Only 37% of children raised as Jehovah's Witnesses remain in the Jehovah's Witness faith when they reach adulthood. The protestants are 80%, Catholics 68%. If Jehovah's Witness is the ONLY TRUE RELIGEON, then why do 63% of the children leave the religion when they reach adulthood?
If the survey is accurate (which I very much doubt) it goes to prove JW’s are not like any other faith, we have standards that must be met, if youths leave it’s because they want to do their own thing & don’t want to live up to the high standards of the bible.

Whereas in other religions they stay because they can do pretty much what they like & still stay in their faith, we are the only religion that practices disfellowshipping just like the first century Christians.

I have been to America & went about with Mormons for a fortnight, lovely people, but they went to Nevada to gamble, got drunk, etc etc in short they did just as they pleased regardless of their faith. JW’s stand in stark contrast to these other faiths, we live by bible standards & those that don’t want to abide by the high standards, leave.

The majority of young people within Jehovah’s organization have followed a different course. Like Jesus’ disciples of the first century, they strive to conduct themselves in a way that reflects favourably on true Christianity. It is not their desire to be a reason for abusive speech to come from outsiders upon Jehovah’s organization and the truth. When such abuse does come they want it to be for the truths and the fine principles for which they stand and not because of bad conduct on their part. At all times they seek to prove themselves Christ’s disciples by good conduct, wholesome speech and sensible manners and dress. They want it to appear evident that they are not like worldly youths but are persons who have been taught by God’s organization.

got help thru a self-help, 12-step group, that deals w/family. if you want the group's name, holler --- i've mentioned several times in past and nobody probably wants to hear about again. i have to say i've seen first hand the help/progress these people have made and one even leads one of the programs in her city.

I appreciate that and the one thing I would need help with possibly is bringing up her addiction or addictions with her. She gets very hostile and defensive. To the point of shutting you out of her life.She classes it as trying to pick a fight..which of course put me in the bad guy role in the past..I now realize it is all a part of her game to munipulate the situation.

I may consider it in the future if things start to spiral as I have a feeling they will eventually. Her son will be gone this summer to his dads and I am hoping that the second job (If she keeps it) will keep her busy and give her extra money. She did say she read the article I posted on addictions and that for her was good!

LV..lol. I am sure my daughter thought the same thing about me..hated that I had the money and not her..she was quite wealthy when she was married and had all she wanted..and treated others as her slaves..now she has to work for everything.No respect..she still has that attitude but not the money..

Now she has more income, at least twice, of what I have coming in. It is just her an dher son and she makes plenty. She is just blowing it somewhere and expecting myself and at one time other family members to pick up the pieces..now she is being called on it and doesn't like it.

AS far as her headaches, I hear you get them from drug withdrawls also..and I would even doubt she went to the ER if she didn't get the drugs. I also really doubt she even has a Dr appointment or if she does that she will keep it.

This is the same daughter that faked her urine test recently to get a part time job (yes you can do that)..why the need to fake a urine test?

LV, as long as I have found out such a thing exists I am happy. It gives me a place to start. I know my daughter has some kind of addiction problem and until she acknowledges it there is nothing I can do but lay down rules on my end. She is in her 50's, way old enough to take care of herself. I know she likes to have a drink or two or three when she gets home from work and Vodka is the drink of her choice. I recently learned that many alcholics have that as a drink of choice as it doesn't smell..

I also know she goes gambling often on her lunch hour. The casino is right accross the street from her work. I also know when she has blown her money she gets real testy and argumentative later. Also I figure she is out of money for booze/pills when she starts arguing with everything someone says.

I also recently learned she has been getting painkillers form a friend..strong ones. The friend is now telling her she needs them herself and cannot give them out any longer..the friend has medical reasons why she herself needs them. My daughter is now saying she has migranes and has been to ER twice in the last month. Each time getting what she wants (drugs) and never following up with a Dr later. This time she says she has an appointment Tuesday as she was in ER Sat before last for a headache. This was when I felt sorry for her and filled her tank and gave her cash..I didn't want her to feel stressed. I later learned a friend of hers came over that night and they drank Tequila all night. She was bragging about it on facebook the next day and I caught it .

I figured they got the booze with my money as the friend never ever seems to have any money..but he does have access to drugs for sale..just saying, I'm wising up! (And it is pissing her off).

next i told a nonwitness friend i was glad to be out of the cult he invited me to his church.

actually i said cults suck i'm glad i'm not in one anymore.

Congrats jeckle..I also noticed that when you point out wrongdoing in the congregations to a witness, such as child molesting, their comeback is that Jehovah knows their heart and will judge them..
All of a sudden their members aren't perfect..and yet isn't that what they expect when they are disfellowshipping members right and left ? Perfection?..Just saying..
