this is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.
the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".
in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.
It goes along with a comment I recently made about them...my take on it was when they use that for an excuse::
I too have heard that one about "Imperfect men"..many times. And yet they themselves expect their followers to be "Perfect" or they disfellowship them. Maybe someone should "disfellowship" the religion when it teaches something new/diffferent than current policy..(New light)

this is a cousin who has complained to me the last 10 years about his wife,kids,work and troubles with his brother and father.

i can't believe how people in the "organization" can be so cold hearted.. .
last october, i got an invitation to a friends wedding where i grew up in portland, oregon.
i now live in san diego, california.
Perhaps Witnesses make it a deal because there are so few ways to be genuinely "persecuted", otherwise knowing as pissing off non-JW relatives, here in North America.
So true!!! I often felt it was sometimes a personal thing also..like when my JW sis in law in NY decided for everyone that me being disassociated would be a bad influence and may stumble someone if I attended my Mother and Father in laws (JW's) 50 wedding anniversary party being held for JW's and non JW relatives at a local banquet hall here in Mo. ..
Seemed she asked "some brother" at HER local KH in NY and they advised her of that..course that was after I had already received a personal invitation from the people at the KH my JW in laws attended in Missouri. The witnesses there had asked their brothers earlier if it was OK to associate with me and were told yes just not to talk about religion with me. This was after they had asked for and received a copy of my disassociation letter I wrote back in 1975. I guess it depends on which KH you ask at. I always felt it was a personal thing.. seems that both their two sons that were raised in the religion later were disfellowshipped..I bet the rules were changed regarding associating with them (their sons)
Just to add: My JW hubby and three adult children refused to go to the party because I was excluded!..
I later found out his parents wondered what happened to us ...no one told them until later..they just said "Oh"...

Anne, she makes too much money to get any kind of assistance. She is just blowing it somewhere..Hopefully this last close call will help push her in the right direction. In the past I have always been there to bail her out..

I have an update again
She apparently scrounged together @20. and borrowed $10. from a friend of hers and put the $30. in the collect box with a note for them to please not turn the water off and she will pay the balance when she gets paid on the 1st..
She then sold a old TV she had in her bedroom to a friend for $20. and got gas for her car to last till the end of the week..
I told her I ws so proud whe worked i tolt on her own!..And I am!
She said she never wants to go through that again and is going to stash $40. for the end of the month for gas!.
That never would have happened if I had bailed her out..I am proud of both of us!...(It was really hard saying No)

OK today is Tuesday..I spoke too soon..latest message to me from her:
Dont' get mad at me.. and I will honestly if you can help me let me know but if you can't I wil understand.. i overlooked my waterbill to city of //////// and I called this morning to try and get an extension till payday and they said they are crackign down on water bil payments and I had my 2nd notice already.. I sware I just overlooked it.. and didn't know I couldn't get an extension.. it is for $110. I called and they said if I could pay half today they wouldnt' shut me off tomorrow. that would be $55. I won't ever do this again since I found this out.. I always let that bill go till the last minute since they usually will give u an extesnion.. that sucks.
So if I can't pay 55 by tomorrow morning.. they will shut off my water.
She told me later that she had the bill on the refrigerator to remind herself and "still " forgot about it.. She just didn't pay it thinking she would be allowed to extend it..now she is scrambling trying to figure out what she is going to do..she has no one left to borrow from but me..but I said NO!!She will just have to figure it out..she already said she was going to pawn a toy of her sons but couldln't find th echarger..so that's how it goes..she won' thave any funds till the 1st so hopefully she will learn from this. As hard as it is to say No I am finding it quite easy this time..only thing is my grandson who is 11 but I figure he will only get a little dirty (spongebaths work) and I am sure she is bottling water for drinking..she has to learn! She blows her money and thinks someone will bail her out all the time..tough love! ( I have received at least 10 more texts with promise to pay this weekend..BTW, she already managed to get $235. from me in a months time before this and only has to pay $45. of it back....amazing isn't she? Also I fugure by the amount she owes, she has owed it for quite a while..I still say she either has a drug or gambling or both problem..I love her too much to give in and pay the bill..

I so bad want to say, it isn't bad luck it's you blowing your money instead of paying your bills..this could have all been avoided ..
