i heard of a funeral held for a sister last week in a kh.. her non-jw daughter-in-law write a poem for her, and wanted to read it at the service in the kingdom hall.
the d-i-l had studied many years ago but was never baptized.
however, because she was wearing slacks, she was refused to read it from the platform and had to read it from her seat in the audience.. how low can you go?

A funeral is a sad event anyway. People need to grieve, to make expression of their love.
But JW's control all. I could not attend my dear paternal grandmother's funeral. The rest of the family thought we were the worse bunch of people on the earth. It certainly does nothing to bring a better understanding to outsiders.
My mother has pre-planned everything. She will be cremated, with no need for anyone to be there, and by that she means "her wayward" daughters. So be it.

Thank you for the post. My heart was telling me the very same thing. When I walked away in 1981, they were absolutely dumbfounded that I would do that. The rumor was that I had done some terrible deed, a terrible sin, and that I did this so I wouldn't be humiliated by being df'd.
They would have been very bored tailing me to find out the scoop. It's really difficult for the borg to understand that someone is actually thinking for themselves. They label you apostate, heathen, and all sorts of ugly names. All my friends dropped me like a hot potatoe. They were afraid of my new strength. Yet, I know that others wished they could do what I did. I paid a great price. I lost the foundation of a youth from the age of 14 to my mid 30's. Wonderful dear people, caught up in an ugly lie.
I hope the lady returns, but I'm not counting on it. I'm certain she told the story to someone else and they warned her against me.
We only do so much, I guess.

On that particular day, I don't believe it would have mattered. I was ready! I didn't wait to see who was coming to my door, as to whether or not I would answer it. No doubt their attitude mighy have affected my response somewhat, but I would have tried not give them the satisfaction of seeing me shiver in my shoes. These people do not intimidate me because they have no hold on me whatsoever anymore. Normally, I wouldn't give them the time of day. But, this was a point of closure for me, and a long time coming.
As far as Elders, etc., not too much bothers me now as far as one person being any better than another. I work with Judges and I deal with offenders. They both have to urinate and brush their teeth, and eat food, and all the other human things we all do. When you think of them that way, it kinda takes the edge off.
I think I would greet them the exact same way I greeted her. If they became haughty, I might feel that rage more than anything else, but I would try to keep calm. Remember, I didn't invite them onto my property or my porch, and I certainly didn't ask them to ring my doorbell. If they acted haughty, I would probably have told them to "get a life" and leave me alone.
I may give off the impression that I'm a whimpy female, but I can assure you...I don't take too much crap from anybody any more. I might be "over the hill", but I had to make it to the top to see the other side".

When I disassociated myself back in 1981, there were only just a couple instances afterwards, where the Jdubs came to my door in the service of their ministry. During those times, I would never ever answer the door. I don't want to use the word "hate" here, but I could not distinguish between my feelings for the org and the individual. Just their presence made me well up with feelings of great anger. On the one hand, I wanted to yank open the door and landblast them. On the other hand, I just didn't want to ever have to engage in any type of discussion with them ever again.
A couple months ago, their service activity really picked up here in the new neighborhood where we live. (There for awhile, in several areas we lived, I hadn't noticed them at all. ??) I was feeling especially wonderful one bright sunny day. The doorbell rang, and I had already determined they were on our street. This was it. I was ready.
I opened the door to find a pleasant looking middle aged Black lady, with a young female friend with her. I smiled and greeted them with such exuberance. They seemed to be taken aback for a minute. I let them do their introduction, and then stopped them. I began to "witness" to them, if you will. I told them that I appreciated them having to come out on such a very hot day. I asked her if she worked and she said yes, and then I said that working and having to go to five meetings a week and try to meet the ten hour a month minimum for service was rough wasn't it. She appeared quizical at my expressions.
I told her that I had been involved many years ago seriously. I even pioneered. When I couldn't meet the demands of being an "official" pioneer, I still worked only part time to be able to serve as much as I could. I told her that I knew what she was doing, but that I had learned that I would rather be free to make my own decisions about life than to be involved in a religion that dictates my every move. I explained that I was totally happy and fulll of joy--something I never had while being a JW.
She then inquired about my status. She wanted to know if I was df'd. When I said no, she began to express some of her own thoughts. She told me that the minute I opened the door and she saw me, there was a deffinite aura about my person. She felt happy to be with me and around me, and wanted to listen to what I had to say. For many months she had been having these thoughts about why certain things happen in the org, and why they are so strict about so many things. Rules forl this and rules for that. And, still it is never enough.
Suddenly, I could tell that she was beginning to feel guilty, because she had spoken in front of this other young sister. She asked me if she could come back and see me, just herself. She said she had many questions. One fact she said as she left, she would like to be as happy as me.
I felt so much empathy for her, as one human being to another. I could see myself in her, and when I came back inside, I was overflowing with great joy and satisfaction for having finally answered the door. It had been over 20 years! I felt no anger at all. That was all gone from me.
That was a turning point for me. It brough back to mind, something that had happened to me many years ago when I was at a strangers door. A sweet older woman greeted me. She let me give my little speech. Then she kindly declined any literature and said that she wanted to give me something to remember. She said: "you believe with all your heart that you are doing the right thing. One day, you will be released of this great burden and you will remember me."
I have never forgotten her words. ...for those words came true.

no, this isn't another childish photoshop prank.. in the past day(s), probably many of you have noticed the facility that i had to lash out unnecessarily at other people.
i've insulted people who came to support me, i've embarassed myself, gone into arguments that i couldn't win, made a pretty flagrant face-about, and generally, made an ass of myself.
and for that i'm sorry.. to tell the truth, the last day (s) has/ve been a nightmare of sorts.
Dear Fellow Human Being,
Congratulations for having made a giant leap in the department of self growth. We all have these turning points in life. We tend to blame everything on ourselves. Although we are responsible for some of the major decisions in our life, we were probably also being influenced from input from all directions. This can not only be upsetting, depressing and confusing, but it can lead to major stress and health problems.
This simple statement really does have merit. "Today is the first day for the rest of your life".
I am writing you telling you this, when not too long ago, I was very desperate emotionally. I carried such a heavy weight of regrets. At 55 years of age, my life had gone through so many periods of pain and heartache. I have especially suffered in the area of rejection and abandonment. Several years ago, I began looking at the little speck in the universe that was me. I began began weeping and speaking outloud, "alright, god, or whoever you are, sure I made some mistakes, but I never intentionally hurt anyone. I've tried to do good things, and still crap follows me all my life. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. I need a little help here, I can't go on like this...." Maybe I had just reached my point of no return, but something happened to me. I didn't feel alone anymore. I began to feel hope. I got myself up out of that self-defeating rut I was in, and started putting one foot in front of the other. I pleaded to the beings who made us all, to help me, and I could feel that I wasn't alone.
You aren't alone either. You are a wonderful beautiful creation, just gropping alone like the rest of us. We all have our individual journies to fulfil. You are right where you are supposed to be.
Please take care of yourself. Do things that make you happy. Think good thoughts, and push the negative aside. Work toward all things good. It is there that you will find the true light of understanding.

I too, like the way your mind works. If we just look at the creation story with a bit of a more logical slant, instead of all the religious dogma, we will begin to see some things for ourselves.
We already know that Adam and Eve were not the first human creations. Our creators had already been "trying out" all types of genetic implants here on our planet. I believe they thought they had it right with Adam and Eve. Actually, when these creations were made "more in the image" of the creators, these creations weren't going to take anything for granted. They wanted truth and knowledge. Don't we all. Perhaps the "tree" of knowledge of good and evil, was just some type of plant that contained necessary elements to be eaten only at certain intervals so the humans would slowly gain the wisdom along with the "knowledge". Instead, the humans took it all at once. The original plan went heywire.
I don't believe in the cenario of the devil in the form of a serpent. I simply believe it was Eve and then Adam, exercising their own conscience and free will. IMHO, god, creator, whoever they might be, represent all good. However, they also represent all bad, or evil as well. Evil means "going away from good". Satan, Devil, Lucifer are just wildly used names to describe being away from the good. The creators want us to experience good. Going away from the good can bring harm to ourselves and to others. We are all equiped with the good/bad gene. We cannot blame the bad and evil on the entity called the Devil. And, since God/creator, whatever, creating all things, then that would mean that he created a being that was pure evil. Since the creator(s) have always allowed the bad to exist, we have always had to deal with the opposite side of good.
I tend to look at things scientifically and logically. God made early man, during at least three creations. I would even go so far as to say, that Eve was actually "cloned" from Adam after he had been alone a very long time. The clone was then altered into the feminine species. One of the creator/helpers, "Michael", saw the potential for the human creation to continue to be allowed to live. In order for the genetic makeup to be eventually cleansed, he came to be born a human, through the human process. This changed his genetic makeup, therefore, the "blood that he shed" was of a very special nature. His blood, contained blood from the creators, the light beings, and also of the human being. The resources were introduced to change the genetic makeup once again at some point and time. Right now I am reading material that suggests that Jesus did indeed marry and father children. Do you know what that might mean? The biblical records we have to read give us a sparce look at Jesus, the man. His birth and his death, and three years of ministering to his fellow man. There is so much left out.
The creators allow the bad to exist, if you will, because it serves as a way for human beings to grow and learn from experience, and therefore, at some point, after many of the "soul's journies", they will be like their creators and be blessed with an existence that none of us can fathom.
As far as Adam and Eve being white. Most all mainstream religious show them as caucasian, or caucasian with a tan. They show Jesus as caucasian. He was not. They were not. These people were of the Eastern world. They were olive skinned or dark skinned. Jesus may have not been as dark as everyone else due to his split genetic makeup and that would be reasonable.
It is difficult sometimes to unscramble the borg in our head. Then, when we unscramble the borg, we are still left to deal with the mainstream religious dogma. It's all ltotally wrong. One has to start from scratch with a clean slate, and reprogram using logical conclusion.
No wonder the creators really didn't want us to have to go through all the crap we've had to deal with in our generations of life on this planet. On the other hand, eating that "fruit", going for the truth and knowledge might have been the best thing Eve could have ever done. (...and Adam and Eve for names----really.. Those aren't names from Eastern Culture....give me a break.)
Here's some news. Back when the gods were into creating, they didn't get a lot of things right. They are good, but they are not perfect. And, who knows who gave them the power to do what they did, in the first place. We can't fathom it all. It's totally beyond the ten percent of brain that we are using right now. But, when the time comes, and we can use more of our brain, these things will be revealed. We are connected to the creators by our soul, which travels all our journeys with us.

my father called the other evening.. first time since i left over a year ago.. .
i know how this man operates.
i knew he'd call a year after my departure.
The sound of a voice, the tone of a voice, can set the heart to racing.
You have to deal with your father. I had and still have to deal with my mother.
I wasn't df'd the second time around. I was trying to live a good clean "christian" life. I simply stopped attending regularly, and began living my life. I still had tremendous guilt. Every time I missed a meeting, I knew mom would call the next day to find out why I wasn't there. I would make up stories that I was ill, or that my son was sick. I really hated to lie to her, but I felt trapped.
She must have eventually thought that I was very, very ill, <grin> because I just stopped going altogether. We only lived about three miles apart, but she wrote me a long letter with very specific questions and directions for me to answer them and send it back. Being the good daughter, I tried to answer them honestly. After that, she totally "disowned" me. Mind you, I had not been df'd. I had committed no sin, other than to begin to think for myself. She treated me like the worse of sinners. You would have thought that I had committed murder. This treatment continued for twelve years! (She is a natural martyr at heart.)
By the time I got into my second marriage, my husband really wondered what in the heck was wrong with my parents. My dad finally showed up on two different occasions to visit us. (They had since moved a thousand miles away--to start over, and "forget" all the unhappiness their kids had brought to them>) Mom would never come with him. Then, gradually, he took her side, and during that time, I would always write to them, always let them know what was happening with me--but I would get absolutely nothing in return.
Once I did get a call from dad, but he was only informing me that in case they died, he had already arranged for "everything", and it would not be necessary for me to travel to offer condolence to the remaining spouse, or gather with family in grief. SO GUESS WHAT? I FINALLY SENT THEM MY OWN LETTER. I DISOWNED THEM. I TOLD THEM EXACTLY HOW I FELT, AND THAT IF THEY COULDN'T BE CONCERNED ABOUT ME IN LIFE, THEN THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE SHOWING UP AT MY FUNERAL, SHOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN TO ME.
I continued to have no contact with them at all for years. Finally, one Father's Day ( Guess that's why I am remembering this now, along with your message above....) my husband had encouraged me to send a card to my father, which I did. As soon as he got it he called me. Suddenly, BOTH of them were going to travel 1,000 miles to come for a visit! I figured something must have changed in the way the society was "dealing" with us heathens.~~smile~~
Today, my dad is gone. He died in Jan. of 2001, but my mom is still alive and kicking. Still judging us and condeming us. She has some wonderful children, good, honest, hard working, family oriented individuals, but she can't see past the borg. Well, at least she will speak to us and send us a letter now and then. I'm thankful that we have some communication these days.
Your situation is different, I know. But, when we have to deal with our loved ones who take it upon themselves to treat us so unjustly, and so "unloving" (I don't care how much my mother tells me she loves me. It's a conditional love.) It seems that we so often settle for "crumbs from the table".
Take care of yourself. Be honest with your own true heart. If you can't be accepted for who you are, they are the ones who are really losing out.

according to this trinity doctrine , we have god talking to his son which is a part of himself.
we all know this> first born son in heaven jesus gets born on earth to save mankind.
to me, god being born would be strange to me and many others.

I don't believe in the trinity because it isn't reasonable, for the reasons you stated as well as others.

my doctor recently told me that my blood pressure is normal, but at the higher end of normal.
i should lower my cholesterol level via diet and exercise.
fine.. recently i applied for a job that allows me to further my education during the week but will still provide for my family.
They look at the difference between the two numbers. Being very close together usually is a sign of a problem, but not a death sentence. They like to see a healthy distance between the two figures. Because of genetic makeup, and perhaps not taking good care of ourselves, our BP can be affected and we may not even be aware.
There are some excellent meds out there. You need to get to your own medical doctor and see what the facts are. You may just need to adjust your diet/and or exercise more.
Also, excitement can increase BP substantially. I wouldn't worry. But, I'd get it checked out.
