  it is a challenge next sunday for them .

  due to starting the convention programme the wt study will be a 30 minute run through ,and deals with this prophecy ... i doubt the younger ones are familiar with it at all bur oldies could debate it at length .we on the look out for the king of the north to enter "the land of decoration" (more to follow,maybe next week).

  this article makes a grand claim in par 2.

  It is all about the egocentric view of the wtBtS. inc. they like everybody to have: From the study today, For centuries the rival kings "could not be identified" because

  there was no WT Society before The 1870s, and conveniently there was no KotN. Prussian german empire before that period either.

  Similar parochial views are repeated on WT's 'Faithful & Discreet Slave' doctrine of 1919: wherein there was no approved provider of spiritual food before that date either.

  It is the same as the reason we did not have WW 3. The leader abstained, not for fear of god, but because they , their families, their wealth would be destroyed too, not just the rank and file in the trenches, cities.

  Jws, Personally working the public, exchanging "life giving" material, "bringing in the harvest" would be too much for the true leadership of the "true religion."

  I may have finally figured out why some today think we are responsible for what others did centuries ago....it's in the bible

  we all know how adam and eve are supposedly responsible for selling all of mankind into sin and thus becoming "slaves to sin".so what they did (if it's not a fairy tale) affected all of the humans that would come after them.then at exodus 34:7 it goes on to show the sins of the father being passed down to the third and fourth generations7 "keeping lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

  " (asv)even though i no longer look to the bible or regard it as i once did, i'm just trying to figure where some in today's world can even get the idea others are responsible for things that were done before they were born.

  only religion can make people feel guilty for things they never did/done or were a part of and then make others feel as if they're entitled to something..

  I was just trying to figure where these people think we owe them anything for what happened in the past. I've never owned slaves and they've never been slaves

  SW: compensation to pay to former slave families? on the contrary, compared to their relatives left behind in the 'dark continent', they have greatly benefited. Let us allow them to pay us the difference in equity, standard of living, sanitation, health care , innovation, hope for the future, between our coloured and their stay at home relatives, (easy with generic tracing)

  well known norway elder and watchtower doctrine apologist, (rolf furuli) was disfellowshipped a few days ago for the crime of expressing opinions contrary to some watchtower dictates.. like wt leadership in the past, they have no problem eating their own..

  How Could We Have Been So Heartless?

  i am addressing here those who, like me, spent decades in the organisation that we called “the truth”.

  perhaps like me you were brought up in it from an early age.

  looking back now i wonder that i could have been so heartless as to believe that the mass slaughter of billions of people was “good news”.

  The name of the deity implies that he will become who ever he has to. and the followers made in his image. so: imagine

  imagine what it does to a mind, to have to memories all the gory details of billions of beings that you promised to resurrect, recreate in the first and general resurrection.

  perhaps you can spare yourself some sick details, since all the resurrected will not marry have reproductive powers.

  but given that the creator has given free reign to see what will succeed, viruses even,

  what is the big s deal that all die, in the wt story, all at once.

  A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist

  i would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.

  i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.

  i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.
