The one oclock meeting

i go to a hall (very rarely) with a single cong of about 60 people in a small city of maybe 10000. our board of elders is a bunch of childless weirdos or at least the ones that make an effort.. they recently changed the sunday meeting time from 10/12 to 1/ 3. a number of us are pissed off.

its makes to hard to drive to the city or go to a football game.. i just know the gestopo elders behind the change.

if your life isnt as miserable or pointless as theirs, they arent doing their job.

It's the fact it is only done by some bully elder to ruin your day. To prevent worldly pleasures.

It's like every in the religion is just to make life suck.

We are only one congregation in the hall. It's been the same time for as long as I loved here.

I just know the gestopo elders behind the change. If your life isnt as miserable or pointless as theirs, they arent doing their job. Its kind of a collective punishment for not being as hardcore as them. It bad enough they take saturday away, now they want your entire sunday.

The cleaning bug

i have a wife that literally cleans the house 24 7. it's hard on our marriage, our son has no natural affection for her.

if we go to an assembly she literally spends two days waxing and polishing the car.

she hand washes all the clothes before go into the washing machine because no machine could ever do as good a job as her.

The one that really pissed me off was this years springs cleaning of the kingdom hall. They set an entire day a side to go over safety. The wts produced there own booklet on safety. Like something they wrote would replace ohs standards since they are above worldy laws.

Then you get 50 people show up to do the work of five. Then everyone start to trip over each other so the elders go for coffee leaving a bunch of women working who had to find childcare to be there.

It's no real secret that jws have a disproportionate amount of janitors in there ranks. They also stress how everything is unclean. Not lest of all there is the kingdom hall cleanings all the time. Ever see 50 people do the job of 3 , and take the same amount if time to get it done.

Just wondering if anyone else out there has to deal with this batshit behavior. I know it's not particularly a jw problem but the Wts really isn't a very constructive place for people with cleaning phobias.

Jesus in the old testament

of course thinking it was all bunk i decided to take a look off the reservation.

much to my surprise a lot of started to make sense and i started to understand the connections between the old and new testament .

The reason I started this thread was i just finished reading a book called the two powers in heaven. In the old testament there seems to be a real obscuring between of the identity of jehovah, the angel of jehovah and the word of jehovah.

It also deals with the idea of what new testament writers thought Christ was. The visible image of the invisible God, no one has seen the father only the son. It's all based on the old testament.

The reason the subject is so interesting to me is when you meet a jw they call themselves the truth and give you this song and dance about the evil trinity.

There actually is somewhat of a case for the bi unity of god.

About two years ago i was challenged by a householder to do the research on the subject. Of course thinking it was all bunk I decided to take a look off the reservation. Much to my surprise a lot of started to make sense and I started to understand the connections between the old and new testament . I am not going to go into much detail about the said subject because it all out there if a person wants to learn.

The funny is in all my years in the KH I can't remember what the Wts position on the subject was. All I remember was an endless north Korea like propaganda program gloryifing the leadership.

Does anyone know what they believe?

The watchtower and tract society is a belief that only seven men in Brooklyn new York into the new covenant and though your works and obedience to these men and the organization they lead, you will survive the impending Armageddon. It's idol worship on the highest level.

It will also cost you your family if you try and leave or disagree with the leadership

If you are lonely and need friendship literally do anything other than become a jehovah witness.

Also there is a great video series by a man named Michael s heiser on youtube explaining jesus and God in the old testament seeing the new testament though first century Jewish eyes. It literally made me ashamed of what I was telling people.
