Of course he his. Well qualified lawyers who are truly in are like rocking horse shite in the organisation so they make the most of them when they have them. I know of a sister who is a qualified lawyer in the Southampton area and they've performed a strapadicktomy on her so she can get involved in things beneficial to the organisation that normally is the preserve of the males only.

Interesting George. The irony just keeps on growing. I would assume that this guy is an elder and very likely supportive of the JC process. I doubt very much, however, that he has advocated for those wanting to simply leave the Witnesses without being forced into being shunned by relatives and former friends. I also doubt he has ever challenged the behaviour of his fellow elders, let alone the organisation, when witnessing injustice as a result of their pseudo-legalistic interpretation of iron-age laws.
As a trained logician, sceptical of the blind acceptance of assertions purported to be fact and a lawyer experienced in cases of human rights and religious freedom then he is absolutely shit at recognising cognitive dissonance in himself.

What on earth is a law professor doing commenting on creation vs evolution?
Well, for anyone out of the WTS it makes no sense. For anyone in then they LOVE a person with a worldly education ratifying their beliefs which is a massive irony given their hatred of further education for those already in.
Don't forget as well that the WTS is full of uneducated people spouting pseudo-science they picked up from WTS publications and answersingenesis.org (you know they type - every congregation has one or two) so anyone with an ACTUAL education is free to talk about any subject with authority.

I wonder if he recalls that WT from 2013...
WT 2013/11/15 - Seven Shepherds, Eight Dukes, Para 17
At that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint. All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not

HELP needed from folks in UK, esp. in Scotland!
by WTS Archive intl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.
please contact me directly for details on when and where the court case will be held (i will know these details in few days probably).

I'm not a native speaker, I assumed that "couple" would be understood as "few", as in 2-9. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
NP - it will all become clear in the end hopefully!

Failing to turn up for work unannounced may be very rude but is no crime or civil offence here in U.K., no one could claim any damages in this "story" , simply not carrying on employment is not breach of contract in any way that can get compensation, employment law in this area has more regard for rights of workers who may be discriminated against, NOT employers! Polish, more like Pledge Furniture Polish , all glistening and no substance.
Yes it is a breach of contract. As a minimum there is a statutory notice period of one week on either side. Employers are not able to deduct any costs associated with an employee walking out from any pay due but they can pursue costs through the civil courts.

WTSArchive...
I understand the group mentality and agree it's not out of the question. Sorry if I misunderstood the size of the place, it's just you mentioned a couple of rooms.
Let's see what you can find out over the next few days.

In yet another appeal to authority, jw.org has trotted out a professional to vouch for creation. This guy is a law professor. Very clever chap, who got his extensive education before becoming a Witness (as usual) and now is seemingly qualified in the eyes of jw.org to speak for creationism.
He rattles out some nonsense about cause and effect, about a bench having to have a designer meaning that the earth must have been designed but what he says in the lead up is amazing.
From around 50s in he explains that he had been following the mainstream view of evolution but came to realise that "we should really question things that are around us, all the theories and explanations that are given. That we shouldn't take as granted all that we hear and especially when somebody says that this thing is obvious or evident so just don't question. Obey, or listen to it. I am now a specialist in law and in logic, human thinking..."
The irony is amazing...

As with the last time pleas were made on this board to support an ex-Witness in civil dispute with the organisation/individual Witnesses there is lots of hearsay and very little verifiable fact.
If half of what is claimed is true then I feel sorry for the individual however there are also things that seem a little out of place. It is true that an employer can make a claim for costs incurred as a result of an employee not working their notice but I also question 24 people all stopping their work immediately as there is no obligation for a Witness stop working for a newly DF/DA person and surely some of them would not be able to afford to do so. I am also wondering how a small (two?) room hotel can support 24+ employees.
WTSArchive - can you provide any more formal information on the case as I am sure there are people who would like to support this person but might be reticent until they are clear on these details?

In the Shepherd The Flock of God Book, elders are given direction as to when a judicial committee should be formed. Item 10 provides some examples of "brazen conduct" and starts as follows:
10. Though this is not an exhaustive list, brazen conduct may be involved in the following if the wrongdoer has an insolent, contemptuous attitude made evident by a practice of these things:
• Willful, continued, unnecessary association with disfellowshipped non relatives despite repeated counsel—Matt. 18:17b; 1 Cor, 5:11, 13;2 John 10, 11; w81 9/15 pp. 25-26.Child sexual abuse and dating a non-believer are also in this list - nice to know where they all rank...
Anyway, the point is that simply talking to a DF'ed person is in itself not a DF offence, it's the "brazen" disloyalty to scriptural and divine (read JW) process by continued association and requires repeated counsel.
Elsewhere in the book it is clear that elders risk (note risk - not an automatic revocation) their privileges if they allow a DF'ed family member to live in the house. This is inconsistently applied and is a neat way for bullying elders to pick on weaker elders.
