All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

Sorry for brevity and lack of info. A relative at Bethel sent the publication, but since I'm on the "outs" with most family members I'm having a hard time getting my hand on the release. They've been reading and discussing excerpts. That's the best I can do for now. Hopefully this may prod someone else to post it.
Hi doin'
Just seen this. There has been no publication released as yet. Are your family dubs in good standing? If so they can only be discussing a leaked publication. I've not heard any chatter on the "approved" gossip channels either. Not saying you are wrong, just trying to understand if you were talking about something that your general dub population may have come across.
cheese..

human history
by alwaysthinking ini remember that the watchtower teaching about human history was about 6000 years, but it seems loosen up a little bit, i am not very sure where, a public talk or another speech, but i definitely heard human history over 10,000 years at least, anyone any thoughts?.

Nope. Human history still starts with Adam, around 6k years ago. The WTS consistently ignores all the evidence that humans have been around longer.

There will be a WT in November with more info. This will be interesting. l don't think much will change at cong level, this is about the CO not having to send paperwork to the branch to be processed.
If the WT wraps this up as something that brings them closer to the scriptures then that's stupid. They are then admitting the whole process was essentially unscriptural. Of course they will claim it's just a refinement but hey ho.
They are better simply saying it's a procedural change since the Branch just ticked the boxes. If they want to maintain some facade that the branch prayed over each appointment and let HS work it's magic then they are bonkers. I think they want to try and put a scriptural case together for the apparent change in where and when HS is active in the appointment. I don't think anyone cares and they are making an issue where for most of the R&F there is none.
If they are wanting to also build a case that the COs are more like how Paul operated then they are barking up the wrong tree anyway. The reason Paul and so on did what they did is because there was no GB. They acted directly not under some bureaucracy in Jerusalem.

As I see it there is little change on a day to day basis in most congregations, especially when it comes to recomendations for appointment. The CO will still be looking for some prompting on recommendations from the elders. The CO always had the power to stonewall an appointment. Where it is interesting is on a deletion. The CO could effectively prevent a deletion by not approving it. Now however, one would presume that he can recommand a deletion where the body have not proposed such an action. Hey presto, any people not percieved as company men get the heave ho. The CO can also more easily overrule any situation where he sees the body closing ranks on someone and protecting them.
I agree with the comments on the further erosion of powers from the local congregation but the real power has always rested outside - this is just a formalisation of what was already the reality.

The only thing "special" about the talk I will be at tomorrow is the mental capacity of the elder presenting it.

There is also a difference in the make up of medical MJ than the sort you would find on the street, especially if you are talking about the stronger stuff that is around these days. You would not be allowed to smoke it however.

Artificial Blood vs. Artificial Cigarettes (e-cigarettes)
by RubaDub indisclaimer: this is a rub a dub serious comment (i can only do the serious stuff every so often when i haven't had enough fiber in my diet).. i was in a group with several brothers after the sunday meeting and brought up the new information about the artificial blood.
only one had heard of it but most thought it was a good idea.. i then mentioned that i guess the new e-cigarettes are a good idea too.
one mentioned that we don't smoke.

It could be argued that an e-cig is not a fake or artifical cigarette, it's just a different method of delivery of nicotine. OK, it contains significantly less toxic elements than a traditional tobacco cigarette but assuming it not just a perfumed vapour then it still contains nicotine which is an addictive substance.
Of course the comparision with other potentially harmful activities such as drinking is a valid one. It's also valid to question the logic of a prohibition on smoking e-cigarettes compared with the disingenuous stance on blood. That will never change the skewed logic of any one who is "in".

The Governing Body told two Elders to call !!!!
by Phizzy ina friend from the other end of the country just 'phoned and told me that a couple of days ago two elders knocked on his door.
he has been out for four or more years.. they told him it was c.o's visit, and the governing body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the k.hall.. i guess this is an easier "field" than knocking on doors that never open, or where they are told "not interested".. my friend bill though, was not such an easy call.
apparently he managed to get in about 1914 being rubbish, the bible not being the word of god, because we cannot trust it, 1919 being rubbish as to the choosing of the fds and several other telling points.. i liked particularly that he said to them they were rather hypocritical asking householders to examine their faith, when jw's were simply not allowed to !.

If they do I will lie and keep them at the door and tell them I will be coming back "soon".
It's no lie, it's just like Armageddon is coming soon!

I suspect the GB see it as a win-win for the society.
Every salesman knows that your existing customer base are the first ones to go to with new products. So by going back on inactive ones they may just strike a cord and get them reactivated.
On the other hand, it may also force the inactive one into expressing views that mean they can take more formal action thus isolating those that perhaps are inactive but perhaps having a negative (in their eyes) influence on family and friends.
