  I have been Shunned again

  i was reading through the local newspaper the other day, when to my astonishment, i saw a full colour picture of a jw couple.

  they had won the valentine of the year competion, run by an international food store.

  the picture showed, the happy couple recieving a presentation of a bottle of champaine and some flowers from the store manager.. i shared the article with my wife, and we smiled, because we knew this couple very well, they belonged to our former congregation.

  Are you sure that he knows that you're no longer a JW? Maybe he doesn't and he's trying to keep a low profile from those whom he thnks are still JWs.

  Insurance for Part Timers

  i am still brainstorming my insurance dilemna.

  any suggestions on companies that offer health insurance to part timers.

  either kinds of companies or specific companies that you know of.. i live in atlanta georgia.. thanks.

  my mate is flying this weekend to minneapolis for an interview.

  it seems very likely that it will result in a wonderful career opportunity for him.

  my job is pretty portable, and there's no question that i'll go with him if he accepts.. what's minneapolis/st.

  Best National Anthem

  okay, let's do a poll.. since it looks like many of us are watching the olympics, let's vote on which country has the best national anthem.. i love canada's.

  i find myself hoping a canadian will win, so i can sing along to their song.. when the russians win, i get a cold disquieting feeling, since they adopted the old soviet anthem again.

  too many memories of the old ussr.. marilyn (aka mulan).

  i hadnt thought there was much worth posting about this past weekends sad on the theme 'submit yourselves to god - oppose the devil.

  ' pretty standard stuff, i didnt take any notes and nodded off towards the end.

  but i do remember one item that ill share.

  Another reason that I've always been confused about the God of the Hebrew scriptures and the God that Jesus taught.

  BTW, I heard that the Society recently made a purchase of several she-bears. Supposedly each CO will have one. What a way to keep the rank and file in line.

  If the Dubs can do this why can't we?

  have you ever been annoyed by the dubs bragging about how quickly they can build their kingdom halls (sometimes a weekend project) for so little money?

  ive heard them boast that this is proof of being blessed by gods spirit.

  but i wanted to float an idea out here to suggest something more constructive, both literally and figuratively.

  Englishman, you are EXACTLY right! I was on a small elder body and one of the last things that I was involved with as an elder was the congregation's quick build.
  About a two months in advance we prepped the sight and a month later did all the excavating and laid the foundation. A week before the "quick-build weekend" we did a lot of the rough framing. Then, the week of the quick-build hundreds of people showed up to put the pieces together. Of course the regional building committee brothers were there to talk to the media. Yup, they told us that if the media wanted to talk to us that we were to direct them to the regional building committee. Of course, when the newspaper articles came out, it made it seem that these group of multi-racial people built this building over the course of a weekend. And the quotes in the article all came from one brother who was on the regional building committee.
  That whole exp. made it so clear to me that the Watchtower Society is just a big business. I wish that every JW could have the same exp.

  Therapy

  what are considered the minimum qulifications to become a therapist?

  in marriage counseling it is a master's degree in social work.

  When I was an elder and was called upon to help those in the congregation with serious problems, such as serious depression, i always felt like an idiot. At least I had the brains to direct these ones to seek professional help, whereas most other elders prescribed 2 meetings and call me in the morning.
  It's a very sad situtation.
