No problem Siegs, glad I could help. Most JWs would be shocked to learn how a JC works behind the scenes. The whole before and after "legalisms" make it such a dreadful thing. I can undersand the Bible writer's thoughts on helping a person that has gone astray but a jc hearing has nothing to do with it. The Bible is just used as a crutch and the jc process to scare people. A real shame that so many people live in fear.

All are not equal before judicial committees
by roybatty inthis is nothing new but there seems to be a lot of advice on what to do when the elders call you to meet with them before a judicial committee.
at the risk of sounding arrogant, ill give you the perspective that i had as an elder sitting on a judicial committee.
it doesnt matter if youre before the committee for apostasy, fornication, smoking, drinking or anything else.

Taliban - Resistence is FUTILE !
by Amazing inthe following appeared on cnn today.
it is like something the klingon empire or the borg from star trek might say.
the us military is broadcasting all over afghanistan the following message - i believe on all frequencies.

>>So, I don't agree. This time, however, the Taliban don't get tons of modern weapons from nobody - and they can't keep on fighting for ever. But a fast victory - no way.<<
This is going to make a HUGE difference. The Soviets had to contend with the Afgans having US made surface to air missle. Very deadly. What will the Afgans have? Maybe they'll throw some rocks. I agree that it may not be a quick victory but the Afgans have no will to fight the US. Reports are coming in that the Taliban is already starting to splinter. You'll see one of Ben Ladin's men turn on him and stick that bastard's head on a stick and collect the reward.

Oh, I did forget one thing. The "I'm not going to meet with the judical committee" doesn't work. They can df you for things like fornication even if you are not there. All the elders have to do is make an "honest" attempt to reach you.
I was on one case were the "brother" was avoiding us. So we left two messages on his answering machine and sent him a letter. Each item stated when and where his jc hearing was going to be. He didn't show so he was df'd anyway.
I guess what I'm getting at is there is no point in doing all kinds of research to present the elders or hire OJ's defense team. It just doesn't matter. You're pretty much df'd or not df'd even before the hearing starts. -

Siegs,
They don’t have to have a judicial meeting to disassociate you. This is what they most likely did if you told them that you didn’t want to belong to the organization anymore. That is why they many time they will send two elders to “investigate” apostasy or violations of neutrality. It’s the old “two witness” rule. The elders will come buy and if they discern that you are “unreachable” they will pound on you with the question “do you still want to be recognized as a Jehovah’s Witness?” or they will ask “do you consider yourself a Jehovah’s Witness?” The second you say “no”, you’re da’d.

This is nothing new but there seems to be a lot of advice on what to do when the elders call you to meet with them before a judicial committee. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I’ll give you the perspective that I had as an elder sitting on a judicial committee. It doesn’t matter if you’re before the committee for apostasy, fornication, smoking, drinking or anything else. Two things will make up 90% of their decision. One, are you a good friend of one of the elders on the judicial committee and two, what value will you be to the congregation if they don’t df you.
The first one is just human natural. If Brother Kent is before us because he is accused of apostasy but says he’s sorry and he’s been my buddy for a lot of years, well, I can more easily see that he’s sorry. But Brother Fred over here, who’s been token the wacky weed, well, I don’t know him that well. Is he sorry or isn’t he sorry? I’m not sure so we’d better df’ing just to be safe. Kind of makes it easy to understand why in the courts of the land they won’t let a buddy of accused be the trial judge. Duh.
Regarding number two. If you’re a pioneer, ms or elder they will be more lenient. Having one of these “privileges” taken away is usually enough to slide by without being df’d, especially if you say that you’re sorry (over and over again). What the elders will think is “hey, after a little bit of time has passed, we’ll have our so and so back.” They don’t want to “cut off their nose to spite their face.” To them, someone who’s JUST a publisher is easier to replace. Others aren’t.
Maybe I’m off base, maybe I’m not but this is what I always noticed.

I know as elders we were informally told told that if someone was "away from the truth for more then five years and not known in the community as a brother, not to bother df'ing or da'ing them."
Just do what you want. You don't need the elders permission.

NEWS: I am publicly reproved over UN situation.
by badwillie inmy wife and i met with 3 elders for a "judicial hearing".. our crime: simply put, was talking.
i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.
my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

I'm sure that you and your wife have jitters right now as you contemplate what to do but you'll be surprised how insignificant the elders, jc hearings and the whole Society thing will be a year after you leave. Hope you continue on your journey to true freedom.

King of The North Against Islam
by Jackson inah...you just know the wts is going to promote death to their advantage didn't you.
bethel drones are out and about spreading the newest wts spin about why the deaths and destruction of september 11th are just as jehovah said it was to be.
yep a speaker in north carolina in the united states said at one the talks, that islam has "aggravated the king of the north and the wild beast".

>>7. The Kings of the North and South prophesies are coming true. They
are very important to us, even though we don't know who the king of
the north is yet.<<LOL. The prophecies are coming true but they don't know who the king of the north is. LOL! It's like predict the outcome of a football game and only knowing one of the two teams that are playing!
Let's see, in modern times the king of the north has been Napolean, Germany, the USSR and China. Who will it be next? I think eventually every country will get a chance! -

My past weekend
by Leander insaturday afternoon i made the decision to step down as a minsterial servant.
i had given it a lot of thought and i came to the conclusion that i would be doing the right thing.
i told my wife about the decision i had planned on making and that basically killed her mood for the rest of the day.

Okay - This is A little Confusing
by pettygrudger inwhat does one make of all these current recent events w/the jw's?
i must admit, i'm a little nervous.
since i was a child it was reinforced that there would be these situations against jw's (slowing of the preaching work, restrictions on their ability to preach), as well as the ever well known belief that eventually god will have found all his "true followers" out of this system of things, and the new "dubs" enlisting would dwindle (which is happening if you look at the stats).

>>these situations against JW's (slowing of the preaching work, restrictions on their ability to preach),<<
Just like someone else said, they're covering all the bases. And it's also very effective at scarying any on-the-fence JWs back in line. People like to have security blankets, and to many the WT is their's. Predictions like "Peace and Security", jeez, how many times have you heard at the meetings "Yup, look at (fill in the organization) said in the newspaper." Or when something really bad happens or when church attandence is down, again the WT says "another sign of the last days." But never do they comment when for the last 10 years crime has been down or people are better off (well, at least here in the USA). And you can bet the farm that they will use the recent expose' as another "sign of the last days" and how Jesus words that "former brothers" would attack true Christians.
Throw the security blanket away and enjoy life.
