>>Mothers having to try to raise their children in a war ridden country without a man to validate them. What the heck can *they* do in a country where no one values women. They have to beg. We are causing another generation of Muslim people that have a beef with the American people, for NO EARTHLY REASON EXCEPT OIL.
Oh yeah, I forgot that Afghanistan was well known for its oil fields!

I'd say you're being a bit disingenuous. ;)

I'm not sure that I would classify phenomenal world as the same thing as faith. Sure we are trusting our sensory perceptions, but I think that's stretching the definition of the word to call that faith. I choose to reserve the word faith for things in which we don't even have sensory evidence.
As drWatson brought out, it's easy to fall into a self-refuting Pyyrhonistic trap to claim that all knowledge is based on faith. If that is truly your position, then you have to admit that my position that objective understaning is possible (or any other hypothetical claim) is just as correct since you have lost your ability to judge alternative claims of knowledge.

Has anyone here been caught?
by new light ini want to post my picture here, but something holds me back.
i am not df'd or da'd, and my whole family is in, so i do have something to lose if i am caught being a wt opposer.
basically, i'm trying to assess the risk factor here.. has anyone been "caught" because of posting their face on this forum?

I wasn't caught on this board, but I was caught on Amazon.com when somebody found my book recommendations for JW's that included Crisis of Conscience and other "apostate" books. I didn't try to hide it because I didn't really care at the time, but I did eventually get a knock at the door one weekend morning. )
Of course they were going to DF me so I DA'd myself right then. It kinda sped up the inevitable.

Haha, I just noticed that the article Hooberus posted was written by Jerry Bergman, who has posted on this site before. I think it's safe to say that on the topic of Evolution, Jerry is well out of his depth.

I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone argue that Darwin invented the idea of naturalistic evolution. It's widely known that Lamark had an incorrect theory of evolution well before Darwin and even the ancient Greek philosophers had their own naturalistic ideas. Darwin just came up with the modern, mostly correct theory of how it happened - Natural Selection. Yes, the idea was proposed and hinted at by others before Darwin, but nobody else did the exhaustive research and argumentation to move the idea from common sense hypothesis to rigorous scientific theory like Darwin did.

Guards at Stadium Conventions during Song and Prayer
by VM44 inwhen did the wt start having guards come out during the song and prayer at stadium conventions?
i noticed this at a convention in san diego, right before the song begins, a bunch of "brothers" come out and stand at key positions facing the seats, and scan the audience!
they remain until after the prayer, and they do not bow their heads during the prayer, but keep scanning the audience.

Haha, yeah, I was one of those 'security' guys watching the stage a few years ago. It was kinda fun with the headset and everything. Made you feel like you were really doing a service for Jehover. Funny thing is that I would get the drive up orders from the McDonalds next door through my headset radio. Nearly scared the crap out of me the first time it happened because it was so loud! :)

California Circuit gets a slap on the hand
by ezekiel3 ina "circuit" (northern california area including south of sacramento and foothills) had only half of their expected attendance at the 10-11 april circuit assembly.
only some 600 from a circuit of about 1100 were present to the dismay of the district and circuit overseers responsible for the assembly.
of major concern was how to foot the bill for the event which is funded by member donations.

Truthseeker1,
I wonder if you remember the Cangemi's (Tom and Janet)? They were also friends with this other pretty cool family in Fresno that I visited once or twice. Lots of boys our age - red hair I think. Haven't seen any of them in ages.

Golf,
Why the false dichotomy? Why can't it be a little of both?
To go aong with dubla's reasoning and my "correlation != causation" aphorism, another reason why Fox viewers may have misconceptions is due to right-wing talk radio commentators. Ultra conservatives who listen to talk radio (the majority of talk radio is absurdly right wing in the US) may identify best with the Fox news channel. CNN, NPR, and BBC probably disgusts them. In fact, Fox probably isn't far enough right for them anyhow.
