Any JW woman would say to me that being the head is a burden, why would that want that? While they are thinking "when I get near his penis with a knife whatch out!" I mean, basically the society is telling is it is a burden to think for ourselves and make decisions and only men are qualified to think? PLEASE! So they do not physically beat us, but they might as well of. Emotional and mental oppression is just as bad - and often times leading to physical abuse.

The Society's View of Women
by minimus inthe watchtower society has regularly spoken about the role of women.
the publications have given strong hints that women are to be considered inferior to men.showing special consideration to a female has been expressed as "from the devil" tipping one's hat toward a female in a respectful gesture was viewed as wrong.the may 15, 1952 watchtrower stated the following: "we can be sure [jesus] did not get in any line to kiss the bride either-- so we leave such woman-exalting practices back in the creature worshipping world, where they belong".......did you feel that women were treated as equals or lesser ones in the congregation?

Frenchbabe: I have a nose ring too ;) But it is a really small stud. I might get a little hoop to got behind it soon too. And I agree, nose rings are my personal favorite. And I think you are right about it being cultural. Where I am, a lot of people my age (in college) have them, and it is not so difficult to get a good paying job as it used to be with one on the face. It isn't so much of an issue anymore. Of course, thats different if you are a JW, I do not think they will ever allow them or tattoos.
shera: The belly button peircing is a very pretty one, it hurts the most though, and in my experience, the easiest one to get infected...because it is so easy to get snagged on something. So be careful! It is worth the pain to me. The nose was actually the most painful, the belly coming in at a close second for initial pain. If you want an easy one, the tongue is a good one (and a fun one for the oral...what Stacy was reffering too). -

Shutterbug: I am not trying to impress anyone. heh, thats not the type of person I am. I am however, very happy with the way I look with the exception of maybe getting on some acne treatment medication. I do not really care what others think about what I do, I care about my well being though. On the other hand, peircings are certainly not rare. I do not get any odd stares like I used to when I was younger with peircings. I see them as body art, and when done in moderation, can look, atleast to me, very pretty. Everyone has their own opinion of what the beauty standard is. Sometimes tattoos and peircings do not fit into that mold, but not in my opinion.

I really liked the idea that because I am a woman, I was inferior. er...no. Actually, I do miss some of the friends I had and my family...but you have to choose whats right, and I chose to leave evil and all that stuck with evil.

How many have left the WTS and joined another church/group?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inat this point in my life i don't think i could trust any religious group.
i don't even feel the need to be a part of anything like that right now, and maybe never will.. but i know of some who have joined other churches/groups since leaving the borg.. why do some join another religion and why won't some ever get involved again?.
what makes us so different?.

I will not now, or ever join a religion. I do not beleive in religion or the idea. I do however, agree people can be spiritual without a church-its the idea of a rule-governed church I strongly disagree with. I can make decision on my own, and I do not need to consult a church leader or book for what to do next.

Yes, I am, but no I am not....
by hillary_step inhello fellow screen junkies,.
i have had a number of messages in recent days concerned about my posting style having changes in recent weeks.
as you may note i have become a little more combative in my replies of late and have imbued a new sense of tenacity when dealing with certain issues.

If only the ladies in my parents congregation took that advice. Once one of them got married...4 more weddings to come. Then one gets pregnant, and we have 4 more pregnant couples. It was a very weird competition. A stupid housewife competition. They all married losars of men with bad (or no) jobs, but they were bethelites...then the women decide to quit their jobs to be better wives, and they are so happy (sarcasm). Fortunately, my sister, who actually quit highschool to get married and be a good wife, realized she made a mistake and got her GED and then her associates degree. She was making more than her husband, and then for some reason, she quit her job again...I don't get it. At least her 2 babies are doing ok, I sure wish I could see them though :(

Frenchy: Don't worry babe, I can take constructive critisism pretty well, one of my closest friends told me it looked like I got shot in the face with a bb gun. :)
Xena: It would be just a hole, but if I kept it out long enough, it would close up and nothing would be there. I had another lip peircing but didn't like it, and that hole is just starting to dissapear, and an eyebrow one is completely gone - I go through phases :( Most peircings have to stay in the whole time or if taken out, need to be put back in within hours or it would close up. My ears are the exception. -

Oh yeah and it doesn't scratch my gums, the back of the stud is flat and fairly comfortable. It is actually the easiest peircing I have ever had done, other than the act of peircing it, there was no pain or soreness what-so-ever.
