  since there seem to be a number of threads in this spirit, i'd like to ask how others became atheists.

  for myself, i learned some things that made me understand the bible wasn't true.

  i looked deeper, and it became even more unlikely.

  thanks for your reply, it certainly helps me to understand you more and I guess have a little more patience (not that you're asking for it ) I actually thought of you last night (yes very sad I know) but I was watching a show on the bible belt in America,(scary place) and I was amazed at the small train of thought most of the people interviewed would allow themselves, it made me think of you, I thought if a person lived there they would not even be able to express there views as to why they did not believe, it seemed very well 'tight knit' in regards to belief. It also made me think well if I was an atheist I'd be pretty f..... off I could'nt express my beliefs, just the same as any one else.

  Theres alot to consider, I am thankful I'm in a place where whatever you believe is pretty much ok, as long as your not a total arsehole, I don't know where you are in the state's but I think the geographics of it all may have something to do with peoples frustration.

  In all honesty, I feel extremely out of my depth with all of this, and can feel quite intimidated to even pose a few questions on the board for 'fear' of being labelled a complete 'dumbarse' but hey if don't ask you'll never know, so thanks for taking the time out and explaining a little bit about you.

  Maybe in the end it all just boils down to quite simply put, How we personally look at it all, I want to be glass half full kinda girl, but sometimes I still see it as half empty, even after letting go of WTBTS beliefs.

  NC,

  I really can understand that, what I would really like to know from you, and I mean this respectfully is do you feel a more complete person now in your conclusion, I sometimes feel when I read your posts that you are very angry at what some posters believe, I would like to consider all avenues, although personally I think we could all be debating this till the cows come home and get no where, however to be 'fair' one must look at all sides with an open mind, I guess I just find aetheists to be very confrontational and accusing - quick to condemn, did you change once you realised/accepted/reasoned there was no god, or did it make you a more in a way angry because of your conclusion. Sorry if it seems a simple question or transperant in answer, I guess I want to know how you really feel on it. It helps me to understand you more as a person instead of NC the atheist -full stop

  Sorry I'm a slow typer and we are probably 5 pages on from this now.

  Don't take offence MC,

  NC had basically said she had solved the puzzle, I just think its interesting that if you've got it all worked out why would you spend so much time on a board like this, with well lets be honest clearly questionable people, in regards to their sanity.

  Than again I am probably speaking out of turn seen as some posters are allowed to insult and question wherever and whenever and jump in and give their 2 cents worth, while others are ridiculed just for expressing their thoughts. Obviously I'm not upto speed with the 'rules of the board' its no 'attack' on you MC I too understand what you're saying, the starvation, poverty really gets too me, and sooo many things are wrong that one would question God if that is in fact even the word to use for hoping in a higher energy, I am starting to believe as long as you try to 'MAN' up to the essential voice we all have, only than can we find a peace, whether it be of mind, body or soul. Thats just my thoughts on it all.

  Thanks for the referal LWT, good to see a thread like this can be debated without it getting all abusive so one can actually just consider the facts, feelings of posters rather than deciphyor through the insults which is just tiring.

  Me these days- wavering more to the belief theres something bigger an energy or something that sways us, motivates or strengthens, as much as I would like to consider atheism like many have said on this thread, theres just something missing, theres a bleakness to it- for me not others I get that, but at the moment I liken it to sitting in a dentist surgery,everything is there too make the pain go away, and its factual even logical in how they will treat you,and there's a remedy, but the room is still grey without warmth, and color, its not the sort of place I want to stick around in, we have all these emotions, love's, passion's they all seem to pale drastically when there is nothing to hope in but ourselves, I mean really look where we are, supposedly now evolved and ever increasing in intelligence, yet still nothings getting better in regard to our earth or its people's problems, its not meant to sound doomsday, but it is a fact. It seems just as empty to me to believe in nothing,( because thats what atheism is to me, the belief in nothing) than to believe in something unseen but clearly felt within.

  This is a'where I'm at now conclusion" after 3 months out of the K Hall, I wonder where I will be in a years time, I hope though whatever conclusion I end up coming to will still enable me to have faith that things can get better, and also to be able to accept others beliefs without ripping them to shreds, I hope I don't lose the ability to feel compassion, or the ability to make an egg of myself and just laugh, thats one thing I will say we ALL need its good for the soul, -I guess the soul goes too, if your an atheist- not sure maybe thats another thread.

  ive been lurking for quite sometime and now feel the need to come and noob it up.

  it's taken a lot to bring me to read anything critical of the wts.

  i used to glance at these apostate sites and shutter in fear because of the obvious demonic venom that can be found :) i am still an active witness and have been in this struggle to stay both in and be removed mentally from this organization.

  just think how discouraging it could have been to expect the end and for it not to occur!.

  I hear you, My brother is going back next year, I am sooo tempted to go as well. I love the look of europe, (sadly never been) the history, people, food, archietecture etc, break up that baguette, and pass the wine Whoo Hoo!

  and yeah those crashes,........ I love mountain bike riding but Eeeeek !!!
