What would Miss Manners say? Horrifying to say the least. They can't keep you from the wedding in a KH as it's a public place. I had two df'd people at my wedding and it was no big deal.
Show them what you think of their Un-invitation. Go.

"do witnesses break up families?
" has been a common topic over the years.
this topic has been brought home to mrs ozzie and i by the following 'un-invitation card'.

as a surprise for my husbands birthday, i got this tattoo.
the picture is kind of blurry, it was hard to take!.
i know i said i was going to get it on my posterior, but i wanted to be able to see it!
Sean, my dad saw it tonight. Not much of a reaction really. I'll give my brother the message.
Harmony, I think I'm going to stick to one. I wouldn't mind a little something on my ankle but I think I'll stick with what I have! I do love it though, and so does Steve.
Crownboy, I made sure it was a clean place and I'm confident I'm ok! I was disappointed that there are no nice yuppie tattoo shops around. They are all scary as hell.

now i know what "reining in children" means....i thought it referred to getting them to listen....no, according to the just jw page, it refers to putting them in reins during field service.
general : field ministry (with children).
recommend (0 recommendations so far) message 1 of 3 in discussion .
They must not be from the states, calling them reins. Around here, putting your kid on a leash is not looked at too kindly. I wonder what the homeowners will think of a three year old with reins.

Why did the tattoo shock you?
I just did the same to my husband. He was shocked too. I told him a few months ago that I wanted to do it but I guess he didn't believe I would.
I suppose a surprise tattoo is shocking!
Glad you are back.

That is really sad, he was just here in Seattle last week and rolled out the first pitch at the Mariners game.
Thanks for posting it.

and what your all-time favorites might be.
it's been quite a while since we've had a thread like this, so here goes my list:.
1. the end of history and the last man by francis fukuyama.
Last month I read The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley...really great book. Then I went for the light stuff, Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason followed by Harry Potter The Fiery Goblet or something to that effect...book four. All really good. I got looks from the other ballet moms while reading Bridget Jones because I was laughing out loud. Totally funny book, better than the first.
I have Lady of Avalon to read now but can't quite make myself yet. I think I need some lighter fiction first. Back to the library on Monday!

NO. Why tell him? If he sees it, fine. If not, better.

specifically i am talking about the "apostates" or antis who plaster cars or send people things in the mail with the truth about "the truth".
to me, this seems exactly like the jw's banging on doors on a saturday morning.
exactly the same thing, just from the other end.
Like Dungbeetle said, I'm sure it's great fun to picket at conventions and might be effective for non-jws attending. The jws will totally ignore it though. I used to laugh at their signs.
I agree Dim, it's so much more productive just to move on with your life.
Nice to see you posting, I haven't seen you here in awhile. We should get together this summer.

my brothers daughter was rushed into hospital yesturday with suspected meningitis , which was confirmed today.. she is only 21/2 years old.. i don't know yet what type she has.. it is a good thing they have lots of help from their congregation , who are looking after their other children for them.. i don't know if blood transfusions are an issue with meningitis , apparently one type poisions the blood , this is the type they think shes got.
So sorry to hear that. A little girl in my son's preschool had viral meningitis last year and made a full recovery. It's nice to have a support system when you need it.
