  my youngest son is now in college and while he has always had an extraordinary ability to call it like it is, he is now even more likely to mouth off.

  he is honing his deductive reasoning and objective thinking skills very nicely and with his "don't give a shit attitude" when it comes to pointing out hypocrisy, well he is just a walking bs caller...especially around the jw's.. so we were talking this evening about some stuff that used to be taught in the hall back when i was a kid.

  no college because young people would never grow old in this system.

  i was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .

  i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.

  i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.

  So we were talking this evening about some stuff that used to be taught in the hall back when I was a kid. No college because young people would NEVER GROW OLD in this system. And I explained how the people the 68 Awake was aimed at are now in their SIXTIES he right away said the wt was Full O' Shit and should be ignored. LOL

  I played a video of GB member Franz actually saying the words that the end of 1975 would usher in the destruction of babylon the Great ad the Great tribulation and then by the beginning of 1976 PARADISE would be here. He shook his head and said that it is impossible to understand how anyone still trusts a single word the wt prints.

  We also talked about going to the memorial to drink ALL the wine and eat all the ritz crackers. But we decided that we would just be counted as having attended and be part of their stupid INCREASE.

  I wish I was twenty again and with HIS strength of voice and reason.

  can someone enlighten me on the use of the pyramid symbol by russell and other examples of pagan symbols/practices by the wts and what they said/never say about it?.

  I have seen Bethel Dooshes come visit the local kh's in Sacramento and Roseville with a WT lapel/tie pin. So I started to wear a handcuff tie pin and a star trek tie with the delta shield all over it. I got jumped all over for that. Oh ya, in the early eighies I was hollered at for wearing Reeboks because of teh UK flag being on them....

  i talk to jw's, i talk to many religious people.

  i also spend all day everyday with educated people due to my career.

  one thing stands out to me for sure, by far the majority of the regular posters here are intelligent and informed.

  Heard About 'The Puppet Court'?

  a tv station in cleveland is covering a corruption trial in federal court, where cameras aren't allowed.

  their solution is to have the transcript testimony read by puppets - including info about hookers, stds and bleeped words.

  i understand their ratings are doing well.

  The wt should allow this for judicial committees. Kangaroo court and puppet court go hand in hand. And the wt already has puppets doing their talks. So it might work! LOL

  Vehicle registration laws in your state, especially western states

  here in california, i have to get a smog, which is an emissions test in order to register my vehicle.

  does your state require an emissions test?

  a regular inspection of the vehicle, or none?

  I JUSt did the reg on my wife's Envoy today. The service tech that performed the smog inspection told me that beginning next year any vehicle that is newer than 2001 will not get the probe in the tailpipe test again. They will do a visual inspection to make sure the equipment is in order AND they still have to connect to the computer, so the costs will be less in the future.
