Hippikon,
Let's hope they don't exist! At least if they're aggressive (as humans tend to be).
Jim,
Maybe they would have to be peaceful if they survived their own ability to annihilate their planet.

'our planet spends billions on searching for extraterrestrial life.
have they never thought seriously about the question: what would happen if we found it, or if it found us.

i've made this point before but it bears repeating.. the watchtower, with its extreme standards, injures.
families and hurts kids.. parents have a responsibility to teach and safeguard.
their kids.
Safe4Kids,
I KNEW it was Think41self, well, I thought it was. There is a similarity in your posts, or something.
Thanks for answering my question so promptly.

Hi Safe4Kids,
I always enjoy your posts. Who is your sister?
Pat
i was thinking (as i am wont to do) while driving this weekend, about god killing 279 million americans of the us kind at the big a. it is hypothetical, but something the 900,000 jws here in us believe.
is god so cruel that along with all the people he is going to kill all their pets too?
after all with 50 million households or more, most of which have at least a dog or a cat, (many one or more of each, plus fish, birds, snakes and whatever) who will care for all those animals once the people are zapped.
TMS,
My apologies--I do go off on tangents sometimes.
What is a 'min pin back'? I hope it gets better!
My point wasn't that humans were so cruel, but the Bible is replete with cruelties favorably presented.
I enjoy your posts, btw.
Waiting,
Thanks for making my gender known!
Y'all better watch out because my little sister is an empress!!

Hey Waiting,
Thanks for the kudos, sis! And, of course, your kiddos are terrific--and so good looking too!
Love,
Pat
the meaning of 'apostasy' given in my dictionary is "abandonment of religious faith, vows, principles or party".
i used to think that only cults considered leaving their religion to be apostasy, but according to my dictionary, as quoted above, everyone who changes their religion is technically an apostate.
so were those of us who changed from other religions to become jws apostates then?
Dave,
I really benefitted from your post. It couldn't have been said better--er, the one about not accepting the labels the jws apply, not the one about the beer.
To refer to oneself as disassociated, df'd, or apostate is accepting the cant (sorry, it's a new word I just learned!) or the lingo peculiar (and I mean peculiar!) to the WTBS.
Thanks for the clarity.
Pat
parasites......cute little things!
*** g99 5/22 14-15 protect yourself from parasites!
you wake up with feelings of nausea.
Not only are parasites a "creation," so is the AIDS virus, Ebola virus, and the rest of the friendly little killers.

What has been the case in other Bible scenarios? Did the God of the Bible spare anything in the flood?
How about in Israelite warfare? Fo example Moses was wrathful at the officers of the army because they spared the women and children. The soldiers were ordered to kill everybody but the virgins that they could then use for themselves. This was typical, as we all know.
How could such a God have any concern for animals? There are other instances that I don't care enough to look up where the Israelites killed everything they could in the 'peaceful' cities they attacked without provocation.
And then, somewhere, there was the instance where the brutal soldiers hamstrung every horse of the 'enemy.' This crippled them. May have even led to a slow death for them?
Oh! and how about the law where you could have your child STONED for being stubborn? Fine people, they were!
How DID I ever take the Bible seriously? I would really recommend any of the several books on the market dealing with the truthfulness of the Bible.

Farkel,
That comment that ETs would treat humans in the same way humans have treated other species and other humans was from the book. The author seemed to have based his rationale on the only known instance of life we know. Even if it is not 'surely,' then it is possible, if not probable.

After posting the above, I was talking to my 28 yr. old daughter about it. She made the point that it's not just that jws are strict, but that the rules are SO unreasonable. 'You can't play sports, you're not going to college (back then at least), you can't go to a dance, you can't talk to worldly kids, blah, blah, blah.'
It's the wierdness that drives them crazy.
