Do those findings support your wearing of makeup in modern times? If it does, do secular sources speak louder than the perfect Creation of God?

Do secular sources speak highly of women who wore makeup in ancient times?

A Jehovah's Witness stated the following when backing up her beliefs on celebrating birthdays " The M'Clintock and Strong's Cyclopedia. It says: "Jews regarded birthday celebrations as parts of idolatrous worship..." Even secular sources back up the Witnesses".

Can the same be said about the wearing of makeup?

Here are some examples of secular sources:
Even before its use in Egypt, the original painted harlot was Semiramis, the mother-wife of Nimrod, and the founder of the Babylonian Mystery Religion. Semiramis is known as the mother of all harlots. She used makeup, as well as suggestive whorish clothing, for various religious and sexual rituals. The following quote describes the kind of seductive, sensual clothing that she - and later the Egyptians-wore: "Modern knowledge of ancient Egyptian dress derives for the most part from ancient paintings and sculpture, since very few garments have been preserved. Biblical references to eye painting are always connected with such notorious women as the scheming Queen Jezebel and unfaithful Jerusalem, portrayed as a prostitute by the prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel. (2 Kings 9:30; Jeremiah 4:30; Ezekiel 23:40) Judging by the large number of glass or stone containers with tiny wands for applying kohl eyeliner that have been unearthed, it is evident that many women in apostate Israel-particularly those of royalty and the rich-had taken up the practice of decorating themselves heavily with eyeliner and other kinds of cosmetics.

Did God make an incomplete/imperfect Creation?
Does God want you to "look more beautiful" than you are? Is this the way He thinks? Did the One who made you neglect to add just the right amount of makeup, so that you can be "at your most beautiful?" Does He want you to attempt to improve on what He made?

"If God had meant for women to appear as they do after painting their faces, He would have designed their faces this way from creation-and THEN said, "It is very good.""

Once again, I am not against the wearing of makeup but a particular Jehovah's Witness seems to suggest I do. It is out of plain ignorance not see the inconsistent reasoning presented by the Jehovah's Witness who made the quote/comment mentioned above.

So what is said about death in the pagan world? Jesus' death is remembered, right? So what is said about death? I can use the same logic as that in the "Reasoning from the Scriptures" quote for death. Of course, Jesus said to "do this is rememberance of me" BUT the quote you mention still does apply to those who have died, right? RIGHT!!

Once again I have nothing against wearing makeup but when hypocrites make weak implications based on biblical verses having very little connection whatsoever with a certain topic such as not celebrating birthdays because of negative association (murder), what should be said about wearing makeup which also carries a negative association?

Most of the women mentioned in the Bible who wore makeup were prostitutes. Jehovah's Witnesses state that it is okay to wear a little makeup because the Bible does not say it is NOT allowed. According to Jehovah's Witnesses, there are two accounts of birthdays being celebrated in the Bible and both had to do with beheadings/murders. Pagans also celebrated birthdays. Because of those two reasons/IMPLICATIONS, celebrating birthdays is out of the question.

Same goes for wearing makeup. Pagan origins, prostitutes wearing makeup, vanity, decorating the face. For what purpose does painting the face serve in God's eyes YET it is ALLOWED?

I have nothing against wearing makeup but when hypocrites use the Bible to make weak implications based on weak biblical verses such as not celebrating birthdays because of negative association (murder), what should be said about wearing makeup?

1) Makeup=pagan=vanity BUT their teachings based on implications ALLOW the wearing of makeup.

2) Birthdays=pagan=associated with murder NOT ALLOWED based on once again implications.

Is makeup for SELF? Is it done to make SELF "get" more beauty, "get" more attention-and "get" more looks from others? Is painting the face done for purely SELFISH reasons?

What would be the difference between decorating a pagan tree and decorating the body?

I believe the argument the Jehovah's Witnesses pose on ALLOWING a woman to wear a little bit of makeup as part of proper grooming (even though it is associated with prostitutes & vanity) vs. not celebrating birthdays or certain holidays due to pagan origins or associating them with acts of murder IS redundant/hypocritical.

At Deuteronomy 16:15, Jehovah commanded those celebrating the festival of booths: "You must become nothing but joyful." Similarly, circuit assemblies and special assembly days are always joyous occasions because of Jehovah's abundant blessing. In view of this, many show appreciation by making voluntary contributions at the assembly.

As in previous years, voluntary contributions can be placed in the contribution boxes either in cash or by check made payable to the circuit. However, a new arrangement for making donations by debit or credit card has been approved for congregations that hold their circuit events in Assembly Halls. Locations for making debit or credit card donations will be announced at the assembly.

We pray Jehovah's rich blessing on your preparations to attend the circuit assembly and special assembly day programs for the 2012 service year.
