Hashtag "BESTLIFEEVER!!"
by Lostwun inis it just me or does it grind your gears when you see #bestlifeever hashtag after every damn jw post on fb and instagram?.
i rarely get on instagram anymore because i dont want to deal with the jw propaganda but i swear sometimes i just want to comment on one of those pics 'jw life is the worst life ever wake up already'.
does anyone else know what i'm talking about?

The word “BROAD” and the Australian Royal Commission
by Londo111 inperhaps i am making too much of this, but was anyone else struck with the number of times the word ‘broad’ and ‘broadly’ were used?
sometimes i wondered if it was due to coaching, in particular when the questioning put a person in a tight spot.

For every single case, every one, they employ the same stock answer - to each request, they say over and over again, that it is “overly broad, vague and ambiguous”; the information requested is “irrelevant” and will not “lead to the discovery of admissible evidence”. They don’t even bother to vary the wording, it’s just what lawyers call “boilerplate” language, there’s no attempt to argue each point, it’s simply stonewalling.

Self-Driving vehicles and delivery robots - why?
by FadeToBlack ini saw a 'news' article today about pizza hut (i think) delivering pizzas via a robotic vehicle in nz.
also another article headline saying it is not a question of if, but when.
my immediate thought was, why?

"History has shown that there will always be work for humans."
Unemployment has been a very real issue and as machine learning could mean that no segment of employment is untouched. Jobs classified today as "white collar" could one day be done by AI. And I worry too that the pace things are changing will be faster than I or most can humanly keep up with.
Again, the fundamental structure of the economy would have to radically change so that everyone could benefit as equally as possible from machines doing most of the work. If so, then it would be positive for all humanity.

In the next decade and beyond, I do wonder about the nature of employment, and not just with self-driving cars.
AI and near-AI systems may do the work that is currently done by programmers and data analysts. Machine learning might put allot of people out of work. The fundamental nature of the economy might need to change.

he actually kept me thinking this was jehovah's org because of his sincerity as if the holy spirit was operating in him.

I never knew Dan Sydlik personally. My parents met him and a few other GB members at a convention and had dinner with them. They were starstruck. From all accounts, he was a charming, charismatic man. When I was a JW, I enjoyed hearing recording of his talks more than anyone else.

Need confirmation: WT bought an entire mountain in China to mine the granite needed for new WT HQ
by WingCommander insomeone asked for a second source on this, so i'm putting this out there to those who may have visited the new wt hq lately and know it to be true.
i had read from others on the ex-jw subreddit that had taken a tour recently at wt hq, that they had been shown photos of a mountain in china, and told that this is where all of the granite is being mined from and shipped over to new york to use at the site of the new wt hq.
apparently, it was cheaper for them to do this and have the local brothers in china mine it, then having to by tons upon tons of granite here in the usa, even wholesale.

Governing Body went from anonymous secret group to T.V Stars??? How?
by Witness 007 inwhen i grew up in the 1980's -90's it was rare to see a faithful slaves picture in 10 years of watchtowers.
everything was anonymous.
no one really knew there names except for the "holy oricle" fred franz.. now they are full on t.v stars with there own show.

Making friends in the "truth"
by Jordandemm inwhat is it about making friends in the organisation am i the only one who had found it tough?
don't get me wrong there was some good people but unfortunately there was also a lot of egotism, back stabbing, jealousy and gossiping.
i could never really fit in any group, everytime i thought i had found a group it was as if i would be sidelined or ditched.
