I'm launching a new website
by JeffT ini just launched a new website to talk about my books.
the website has links to all three books in the alternate history trilogy i published over the last year.
of more interest to this group there is a description of the suspense/thriller i plan to release this summer.

The racial term 'black' has become sooo diluted
by LoveUniHateExams ini always understood the term 'black' (or 'black', if you write for the guardian) to refer to sub-saharan africans or people of sub-saharan african origin.. but, perhaps in a rush to embrace victimhood, more and more people are today are using the term black to refer to other people.. so, apparently barack obama is black - 'the first black president of the united states'.. and lewis hamilton is supposedly the only black driver in formula one.. and jordan peele is a black film director, apparently.. and then there's meghan markle.. there may also be people of pakistani heritage who refer to themselves as black.. and, sorry to say, it's all a load of bullsh*t.. barack obama, lewis hamilton, jordan peel, halle berry and meghan markle are all biracial (mixed-race).
they're not black.
disregarding the other half of their ethnic heritage is intellectually dishonest.. .

Race theory began with humans being divided into 3 races -
Caucasian (aka White)
Negroid (aka Black)
Mongoloid (Asian to include natives of north America)
Science now shows us that "race" refers to "sub-species". There are no sub-species of homo sapiens.
As Jarome Iginla, NHL player for the Calgary Flames, was asked by an ESPN commentator "What is it like being one of the few African American players in the NHL?" Iginla replied, "I wouldn't know. I am neither African or American."

This is a moving post. Thanks for sharing.
I think the underlying idea being made is that relationships are a two-way street. Don't chase after people. If they are not making an effort or putting energy into the relationship it isn't a relationship. It is just you clinging on to a desire.

politicians can spout out “facts” that support their truth yet once further evidence comes through these facts are questionable.

What is truth is not necessarily fact. I think the main difference between truth and falsity is the intent. Truth tends to line up with reality and is generally done with no harmful intent.
Someone can be sworn in as a witness at a trial. They swear to answer truthfully. What they say may not be factual, but it is what they remember and the answer is not a false answer,

Truth is eternal and is experienced. Truth invites doubt and requires determination to find it.
Belief is a venerated opinion we want to be true. Belief refuses to accept or entertain non-supportive information or facts. Belief is a self-serving narrative.
Faith is letting go or the ceasing of clinging to belief and the acceptance of truth as it is experienced.

Liberal vs. Conservative mental health study - what do you make of it?
by Brock Talon ina pew study from 2020 (but one i just now came upon myself) reported that the more liberal you are, the more likely you are to have a mental health condition.
the worst suffering group are white females, ages 18-29 where over 56% have admitted to be described by their own doctors as having a mental health condition.
conservative females of the same age group suffer at less than half that number (27%).. while women tend to have more mental health problems than men (don't be mad at me for saying it, this is what the study reports) it is notable that liberal men have a higher percentage of mental health conditions than conservative women in the same age group.

Conservative ideology - Preserve tradition. Hard work = Success. An individual is responsible for his own outcome.
Liberal ideology - Progress must always happen. One's outcome is influenced by external factors controlled by society as a whole. Inequality is society's failing.
What is true is that happiness is found internally. No person, place, experience, or thing can make you happy.

In other words, conservatives have uncomplicated and non-stressful ways of explaining away social and economic inequalities because they believe the "haves" achieved what they have based on hard work, talent or personal achievement, while the "have nots" simply didn't work hard enough. In that belief system, there is full justification for keeping and perpetuating a status quo as well as the ideal that if you work hard enough (no matter what) you can achieve whatever you want to be without outside help.
This is a huge insight on the topic. This goes back to Ronald Reagan's presidency. Reagan espoused the idea that the individual should be self-reliant and that government should not be a stop gap. This aligns with the conservative mindset that "I earned this therefor it is mine to do with as I choose. Go earn your own."
Conversely, Leftists (not Liberals) believe all property is State property. Leftists are not concerned with narrowing the gap between haves and have-nots, but believe there should be no classes. Leftists believe in absolute equality in all respects of life.
This is why equality is no longer a concern of the Left, but equity. Equity is equal outcome without equal participation or equal qualification. Everyone should be accepted into college regardless of grades. Everyone should receive equal pay regardless of actual or potential output.
One believes he is his own master and in total control of his destiny. One believes in mass suffering can only be ended through totalitarian government. The human brain is an organ and like all organ has one purpose - prolong life. The brain creates anxiety when it perceives danger or harm. Not being in control is an example of danger perceived by the brain. So, if one believes that control can only be accomplished by a totalitarian government forcing equity I can see why that person would have high anxiety living in a country that is based on individual freedom.
