Well if we put in fine print in the bottom left "Sponsored by Jehovah's Witnesses" and we got people who weren't disfellowshipped to put them up, are we really lying?

The Ideas Thread - all are welcome!
by cedars insorry it's been a while since i posted anything.
i've kind of had my hands full of late.
there are some things i want to say, but i am saving some of it for a more appropriate time.. i thought i would start a simple "ideas thread" as a thread on which we can, well, share our ideas!

Does it invite legal trouble to create a poster or leaflet that supports JW's ridiculous beliefs and then claim sponsorship by JW's? I figure if we could anonymously attach them to poles or other places where you usually find posters no one would know who it was.
For instance...
WE WANT YOU
(picture of your cliche horribly dressed (in a suit) elder pointing a finger at reader)
TO (insert ridiculous JW belief)

Which is greater love or freedom ?
by caliber inwhich is greater love or freedom ?
can they exist apart ?.

Depending on what absence of freedom we are talking about, love could be made a privilege rather than a natural right, so I would say freedom. I would rather be free to love than remember my love of freedom.

The REAL atheist meaning of life . . .
by nicolaou inthere isn't one and that's a really good thing.

you are an artist, you pick up a new canvas and place it on your easel.

But you only speak of ONE SIDE of the argument. Only the BAD things that can happen when we do such ridiculous things as "driving a car or ot walking on the street" happen.
Mahatma Ghandi had a completely original view towards life, freedom, and justice. Not sure how that's not following his own rules. MLK made massive boycotts happen (and didn't use violence) which helped further the Civil Rights Movement (how is that not his own rules?)
You are speaking of a morally deficient human being. One that has been desensitized and ignores moral standards. You are naming infamous rarities as your proof for human beings "making up their own rules", which is a ridiculous premise for an argument.

Why should they care what someone else believes?
Anyone else care to jump on this one? Aha.

Aha, of course you are not talking about "their own rules" you are talking about how gullible human beings are when tyrants are in charge (illustrated excellently in the Bible). These weren't "their own rules" these were rules they set so that they control millions of people. I think an excellent exapmle of people using their own rules would be someone along the lines of
John Lennon
Martin Luther King Jr.
Mahatma Ghandi
etc.
And I don't know if you've ever read "Night" by Elie Wiesel, or seen any films concerning the Holocaust, but most Jews in the beginning believed that God was condemning them for wrongdoing, or that God would save them from the horror. This mindset is illustrated greatly in "Night", and how eventually most came to the realization that God either 1) did not care about the Jews or 2) God was never there in the first place. This is the main reason the Jews never revolted, they believed God would do something about it... I mean how could God allow 6 million people to be killed simply because of their heritage and religion? One Ghetto, the Warsaw Ghetto eventually fought back. There were about 400 to 1,000 of them and they survived for around 6 months. Imagine if they had never believed that God would save them. Imagine how many would be alive today.

Art without rules is not art. It's called therapy.

And PSac, can you explain how that would be a dangerous path?

The general atheist meaning of life
by mankkeli ini have posted this on another forum where i mentor on spirituality and i am posting here again.. when things like spirituality are no longer present in one's life, they may or may not stop looking for meaning.
meaning is an essential part of human psychology, though some feel the need for it less than others, and even a few seemingly don't at all.
there also seems to be a trend that occurs: in the lack of a meaning of life, the brain tries to find one, because it sees a purpose for everything.. .

As I said, we are not talking about producing a certain pitch or note on a guitar. We are talking about the general "rules for instruments". But if you want to discuss this fine. Guitars have an unlimited amount of possibilities when concerning producing notes. I can utilize alternate tunings (no limit to this amount, certain alternate tunings have yet to be found) to produce notes on other frets. I can also utilize something like a pen, marker, or bottle to raise the strings, thus producing different pitches in different areas, you can utilize a capo, you can play a chord using different strings then the strings that correspond with prescribed note, the possibilites are endless. You can even combine them all.
