hi everyone, (including the person who down votes all of my posts).
as some of you know, i'm working toward my master's degree.
comments from those associated when the elder arrangement was introduced would help me with a research paper.. what was the reaction among adherents?
Hi everyone, (including the person who down votes all of my posts)
As some of you know, I'm working toward my master's degree. Comments from those associated when the Elder Arrangement was introduced would help me with a research paper.
What was the reaction among adherents? Were there hard feeling? Were people relieved to have the new arrangement? Comment on internal 'politics' - that is did some put themselves 'forward'? Were there hard feelings when some were not appointed? What role did Circuit Overseers play in your congregation? Were some appointed who obviously should not have been, only to be deleted within not many years?
Any comments will be helpful.
Best regards,
Annie

you do remember the four day assemblies... sitting outdoors being fried in the sweltering heat, getting heat stroke in the middle of july in an outdoor baseball stadium.sitting outdoors from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. was so much fun while you wore a suit, long sleeve shirt and a tie while your brain fried.
mom's who had children to take care of,lug strollers, feed all the kids, take them for bathroom breaks and try to not faint from the heat.. the sound and audio was always breaking and barely audible from the wind, airplanes flying over and (if you attended the cicero, illinois circuit )you would smell horse manure from the horse stables next door.. you know that you are a jehovah's witness.... when the only excitement waiting for the drama... where brothers and sisters dress up in ancient cloths, fake beards, fake rocks and fake soldier uniforms and wave their hands incessantly to pretend that they are acting out a drama.the excitement was unbearable!.
Uncle B says the first drama was at the 1966 International Convention. Jeremiah was the subject. And when Jeremiah broke the clay vessel the actor broke one on state. Me? I wasn't born yet, neither were my parents.

I attended a few Watchtower Conventions with my mother. She took notes. I was bored silly. Most of the time. I liked the dramas though they were amateurish.
Mom had started a book on Watchtower history from the Knorr era to present. Uncle B was not interested for various reasons. So she was working that on her own. So we attended various meetings, went to old-timers houses and chatted them up, looked at photo albums and such. She never finished it.
Finding meaningful documentation was a challenge, and it was my first introduction to serious research.

Lloyd's current efforts remind me of someone far out to sea in a leaky rowboat bailing furiously. His ship is sinking.

NonC,
The youtube 'rebuttals' puzzle me. Some of them are silly, even stupid. Some are to the point, but the point is often nearly meaningless. Why someone determined to shed Watchtower doctrine needs the rebuttals is a mystery. Is it a form of justification? In Lloyds case, I would say so. His videos seem to be his excuse for immoral, hurtful behavior.
Scouring old Watchtower publications for things to laugh at or criticize also seems off point. Okay, now the person who always down votes my posts can get to work.
