If a year is really 365 1/4 days why 360 days to calculate 1914
by blondie indoesn't that throw off the date?.

in establishing the length of the seven times of the gentiles, a time or year of 360 days is used, to give 2,520 days, which become 2,520 years when ezekiel 4:6 is applied.

Looking at TD's post about Goudoever, I wonder, who was Goudoever and when was the book written? I don't remember seeing his name before.
I'm pretty sure I've seen the 360 figure in Adventist literature from the 1800's. Or maybe it was in Froome's SDA reference book.

Overall the report shows stagnation. There are still plenty of people enthusiastically making the WT their life's work that it will be around for a long while yet, but many are just finding it boring. When a country gets to the point where there are nearly as many ex-witnesses as current witnesses, the growth stops. That would be an interesting figure to have, it if were possible to get. -

As someone mentioned on another post, Ukraine's negative is nearly offset by Russia's positive. I wasn't aware of it, but there has been some restructuring of boundaries apparently.
Also, I am a little surprised to see large decreases in some of the poorest African nations like Malawi, Congo, and Congo DR, while most of the other African nations have relatively large increases.

In 2014 they had a special month (April or May, I forget) which allowed only 30 hours to aux pioneer. It was a new initiative, and in our congregation loads of people did it, something like 70 out of 120 publishers. The repeat of the same thing in 2015 had much less response. I think this would explain a lot of the drop off in aux pioneers in 2015.
Of course lowering the bar increases the statistics, but eventually they will run out of options.

The disparity between the increases of 'peak' and 'average' publishers is curious. It may be simply a function of reporting methods. It used to be explained that 'peak' includes ones who report several months at one time to catch up, so August (at the end of the service year) was the highest month, as people were asked to complete all their reports before Sept 1. Now with texts, electronic communication, etc it may be that the effect of the 'peak' is less pronounced. In either case, the 'average' publisher is probably a better measure to compare across years. -

The '360' was inherited from William Miller and the Adventists, and probably before that. -

When did district conventions become regional conventions and why?

congregations became companies and then back to congregations again.
circuit overseers became circuit servants and then back again.

Just an observation from my perspective (midwest US). Back in the day (pre 1980) the district was well defined. All congregations in a district were assigned to the same district assembly, the congregations within the district were consistent, the district overseer and circuit overseers were visible and present at the district assembly, etc. More recently, the 'district' convention was a hodgepodge of congregations from numerous congregations from different circuits. The district overseer wasn't there, nor was it even clear what district it was. So I think the concept of 'district' had ceased to exist anyway for at least 15 years. -
