I remember they did this when I was an elder in the mid 90's. I thought they abandoned the forced compliance.
Looks like it is back.
i have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

the resurrection is supposed to be a joyous occasion?, if it ever happened!
--well, this week's showing at the hall was the opposite, it was about death with violins playing in the background.
a recently bereaved member, , full of tears, (like many others) could not contain herself.
can someone help me understand how the wt came up with the overlapping generation theory?
i just don't understand it even though i read the information several times.
it's bewildering.

The made a decision not to abandon 1914. But with 1914 still in the books they needed a way to connect to the current crowd.
I for one am quite impressed with their creativity. I doubt I could have thought of anything as creative.
i'm just wondering if jws keep inviting you back or if they've given up on you.. they haven't invited me for years..
it's the forum's 16th birthday today!.
amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.
some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .
remember that article brothers?we have been up and running for less than a week and already have had accusations of apostacy bandied about.please stop and think before you make a serious allegation like this.
imagine the hurt it would cause to a genuine brother if it wasn't true.this doesn't mean that we should let our guard down against those who would try and disrupt things or cause divisions amongst us but i'm sure these poeple would like nothing more than to see us fall out with each other.some of these rumours have been spread by members of other boards or people pretending to be them.just be on your guard to this sort of activity and help us by not passing on unfounded accusations.thank you.
i believe all our worst nightmare are believing money will make our life's complete.
i am not talking about money providing life's comforts, but i am mortified that contentment and happiness always requires " more money"..ummm i need a window cleaner, a flashy car and a 50inch t.v screen to be happy.
money...well in my opinion we need money integrity to be happy, but it seems such a waste of life to search for the making of money more than ....well what i mean "hey" most of us have more money than most, and would the making or having more money really make you happier?.
I have been rich and I have been poor (relatively speaking). In my opinion rich is better. Be sure not to confuse materialism with wealth.
Having an asset, such as a fancy car, does not create wealth. Just the opposite. The asset loses value and chances are the owner went into debt to buy the car. I consider the this as exact opposite of wealth creation and have no use for this behavior.
You might want to consider reading the book "The millionaire next door." There are a lot of wealthy people with no bling but living comfortable good lives.
first some context to this post.
historically the elders meeting with the circuit overseer has had the following format : outline for meeting including ministerial servants then, after they have been dismissed, discussion of local issues.
the last visit there was an additional outline for the elders only, the notorious "gender blurring" discussion.. you might wonder what is being discussed this time round, so here you are:.
i am curious if my observations are correct.
i noticed alot of exjws end up majoring in the social sciences.
i am also interested in what educational choices people have made either while fading or while completely out.
Luther:
My dream is to create a scholarship funded in large part by exjws for exjws. and create online resources so that those who are fading can get some help.A great idea. I am a tenure track professor and fully believe in the power of a non traditional education. Being raised a JW pretty much excluded me from a traditional track. As they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat. In my journey of education, I am sure I invented a few never thought of ways to get through the system.
If you are compiling a list of resources, put me on the list.
