Circuit visit elders meeting
by Saltheart Foamfollower infirst some context to this post.
historically the elders meeting with the circuit overseer has had the following format : outline for meeting including ministerial servants then, after they have been dismissed, discussion of local issues.
the last visit there was an additional outline for the elders only, the notorious "gender blurring" discussion.. you might wonder what is being discussed this time round, so here you are:.

My last elder/CO meeting was in the 1990s. It sounds like nothing has changed. I remember the CO being so unengaged in the conversation. It was worse than an IRS audit. -

After leaving what did you Major in?
by Luther bertrand ini am curious if my observations are correct.
i noticed alot of exjws end up majoring in the social sciences.
i am also interested in what educational choices people have made either while fading or while completely out.

Luther:
My dream is to create a scholarship funded in large part by exjws for exjws. and create online resources so that those who are fading can get some help.A great idea. I am a tenure track professor and fully believe in the power of a non traditional education. Being raised a JW pretty much excluded me from a traditional track. As they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat. In my journey of education, I am sure I invented a few never thought of ways to get through the system.
If you are compiling a list of resources, put me on the list.

Why all the secrecy in Gods organisation?
by Truthexplorer inlooking back and seeing all the secrecy and cover ups throughout wt history such as the secret elders books, the branch correspondence guidelines, the shameful lying and deceipt exposed during the arc questioning, the in-house way of dealing with things, the lack of openness to the media on issues such as blood or child abuse or anything controversial for that matter.
could this relate in some way to russell's alleged past as a freemason?
it seems quite strange that the founder of the bible students quite possibly may have been a freemason, (an organisation well known for its secrecy).

I doubt there was much secrecy. Everyone knew what was going on. Unfortunately the method of communication was rumor. But that was the point, really. The illusion of secrecy added to the value of rumors. If you heard a rumor, you considered yourself a special person. Your value increased by repeating the rumor.
Thus, everyone was a winner.

After my life as a witness I focused my life on accounting. I remember studying for my CPA exam and realized that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) were far more comforting than anything I ever heard from the platform at a Kingdom hall. I am probably the first person in the history of humanity that considers accounting concepts at the par of any divine pronouncements from organized religion. Thus, I ended up as an accounting professor.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

Do not go with a Merlot. Focus on another red wine. You can never go wrong with a French bordeaux. -

Undercover meeting.
by pleaseresearch ini think this is by far the best way to reach jws and wake them up.
to go to a kh where nobody knows you and seem interested but raise questions either before or after the meeting.
if it only helps one person, it's worth it.. some may say it's sneaky etc... but no way can you talk to a brother on the ministry in a negative way.

I am not sure I understand the interest (some would say obsession) in converting JWs or anyone else. I understand if it is a family member. But, randomly picking on people to convince that they have been lied to is not a something I want to be a part of.
Convincing people they have lived a lie is one thing. But helping these people develop a meaningful life after the devastation that is sure to come if your plan works is something I have neither interest nor time. My attitude may be inappropriate, but I know how hard I and others worked after learning TTATT, I am not sure everyone has the fortitude to make a life after living in a cult. Always remember, there is a reason why some choose to be a part of a cult.

To Scully--A Tribute!
by Atlantis inif you are a new person to the board you might want to send scully a pm thanking her for her hard work and dedication.
the boe project owes her for helping it to get started.. example:.
several years ago there was a website called (dirtclod.com) who had the courage to display the boes right out in front of everybody.
