here is my edit to twitch that i was just adding to my comment above -

edit: okay I've gone back over this thread to see why you would ask such questions as it seemed to me that I had previously said I was an atheist (page 4). However in that comment I was also trying to riddle with ndrew as she, bless her, has always tried to meet me half way and i was trying to do the same in return. Her faith, and the way she describes it, is also accessible in atheistic terms and this is what I would have explained to you if you hadn't decided first to put me in hole and then to seem to be trying to put a lid over it.

you replied to a statement of mine. I responded to it but apparently misunderstood your meaning which I asked you to clarify so that we can continue a discussion. Does putting you in a hole mean categorizing you as a christian? Is that not what you are?

my reason for asking the above was also to continue the discucssion but your subsequent questions subsequent not just to want to put me in a hole it seems you also want to cover it

But in reference to your point, I understand it to be that the masses are placatd by the ruling religious elite who are more focused on political issues than cultivating true spirituality in their members. Is that about right?

true spirituality if we are going to say is to do with responsibility and the will and with power then we are talking political. so no that is not what I mean twitch.

btw I did not say that it is irresponsible to focus on unity and peace on earth.

i was shocked to hear how the slander against jehovah's name that we see in the world can be compared to a good man accused of being a child molester.

he went on to describe how terrible such an accusation would be, and how "friends" of the accused would know he's not capable of such an act and would rally to his defense.

at several points in the talk, he refers back to the child molester "example" and how eventually, despite the hideous slander heaped on a man in this situation (depicting jehovah in the bigger picture, we assume), that man's good reputation would be restored.

a smoker is often visible whereas a pedophile is usually invisible - imo it is all to do with how easy it is to maintain secrecy.

twtich, most faiths seem content to put their masses to sleep (I'm going to include nihilistic atheisim in htis too)- this has been true in the past and is true today too - in the sense that they are focused on earthly unity and peace the kind that tends toward irresponsibility. Generally a few elite ones are active

btw I don't follow anyone as I am very independent and tend to resist being categorised or even brought into a sheepfold (earthly) - this to me is the mark of the spirit
