Slidin Fast: ...Stephen Lett. They really should keep him in a back room, just take him out every now and then for group photos and then put him away again.
Same for Anthony Morris III.
Thank goodness they are letting these fanatical men speak publicly. It's bad for Watchtower but good for everyone else. Go Watchtower TV!

How Far Apart Were Your Legs?
by Joe Grundy inseveral threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.
fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.
a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.

This is a good topic, and I say Yes, bring the elders into the light, expose them, and let them answer for themselves, and let Watchtower answer for itself, if they can.
For either a girl or a young woman to be questioned by 3 older men about a sexual assault has to be a traumatic experience for her. To be asked graphic questions about the lurid details embarrasses and humiliates the victim further, and adds more damage to the rape.
As to the "how far apart were your legs" question, I think the elders ask questions like that to try to determine if the girl/woman was really raped. These elders are looking for an angle to say the girl was complicit in what happened, to reach the conclusion that 'You must have asked for it.' They were looking for a way to blame the victim.
The BBC report was outstanding, and that is exactly the kind of exposure Jehovah's Witnesses should have.

JW Broadcasting is dying.
by John Aquila inonce a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.

ToesUp: ...maybe the Elders need to go on the internet and learn how to cook a turkey and a roast.
Oh, that is so funny! Thumbs up to ToesUp.

Fisherman: I am sure that you also know that people do not like here any post that rebuts WT hate posts.
That's not true at all. It is often mentioned here that posts that unfairly criticize Watchtower are a bad idea. Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to think that all apostates are bad, and all that hate posts do is reinforce that wrong point of view. .

Fisherman: I changed that [the science name]. You need to re read.
Yes, you edited it out - without acknowledging the edit - either while I was preparing my post or after it was posted. You must have, after giving it second thought, finally taken your own advice that "You need to read."
Does that really mean I didn't read your post? Or are you being unnecessarily harsh, negative, judgmental, and fault finding? You did write "science", apparently without reading before you posted the first time.
ScenicViewer: knowledgeable and intelligent people are overwhelmingly against our own, given that we all come from the same background, it's time we slowed down and rethought the matter.
Fisherman: Not really.
Are you really of the 'everybody else is wrong and I am always right' mentality?'

Fisherman: ...liking something or polls does not make an argument valid.
Not automatically, no, but when the opinions of other knowledgeable and intelligent people are overwhelmingly against our own, given that we all come from the same background, it's time we slowed down and rethought the matter.
with your science name and all
Actually my screen name has nothing to do with science, but that raises the question again, based on what science do you conclude that you have defeated Morpheus in debates?
Edit: The background I refer to is that of being Jehovah's Witnesses and having an awakening.

Fisherman: I have defeated Morpheus in debates on other threads
What measure are you using to decide you have defeated Morpheus?
I'm not sure what "other threads" have to do with this one, but have you noticed the Like and Dislike numbers on this thread? If we judge by what other posters think it is clear that they agree with Morpheus much more than with you.
Below are samples - Morpheus' Likes are heavily in the Green, while your Dislikes are heavily in the Red.
I wonder if you are seeing yourself and your logic the same way other people are seeing you.

Fisherman: You are a moron Morpheus. [...] You are a real Twirp [...] What a dope you are.
Why is Morpheus a dope, a twirp and a moron? The questions, in and of themselves, seemed harmless in nature, although perhaps you came across as not believing that he was in Bethel. Did you mean to be grilling him, is that why you wanted the questions to be kept private?
Personally I've enjoyed the discussion about Bethel life.

We keep track of 16,000+ workers plus 7688 RBC/Local Volunteers for a grand total of 23,500!
Wow. Watchtower can keep track of 23,500 volunteer workers?
That seems strange considering the Organization doesn't bother to keep track of it's own anointed remnant.
(W 8-15-2011 p22)
We thus have no way of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know. The Governing Body does not keep a list of all partakers, for it does not maintain a global network of anointed ones."
And so much depends on the anointed.
-- For decades the anointed were the Faithful and Discreet Slave, who gave spiritual food at the proper time.
-- Only the anointed are brothers of Christ.
-- The Bible was written for the anointed.
-- The anointed make up the Christian Congregation.
-- The Other Sheep are saved by the anointed.
-- Christ is Mediator only to the anointed.
Many heavy spiritual things are dependent on the anointed, according to the Society, but they don't know who the anointed are or where they are.
Throughout Watchtowers history since 1970, which is about when I came in, there were only about 8,000+ anointed on earth, although the number has risen over the last several years; there were 12,604 in 2012, my last notice.
Watchtower doesn't keep track of 8,000-12,000 or so of the anointed, but it does keep track of 23,500 volunteer workers? This doesn't make a great deal of sense.
It does however show where the Organization's priorities are, not on spiritual things, but on free labor.
