What happened to the page summaries in NWT?
by jws ini was recently discussing the real 10 commandments in ex 34. as i recall the old nwt had topic summaries at the top of each page.
theoretically to summarize the page and help you find things.
i've seen other bibles do this too.

The "running headings," as one Circuit Overseer called them, are missing from the print edition too (the latest Revised NWT). -

Our hall is asking for money...
by thedepressedsoul ini guess the branch isn't happy with the amount being sent each month since we are way lower than our loan amount.
we now have to another financial survey to see the max amount that can be given.
it is "encouraged" for all to be in attendance and give much forethought and consideration to the amount you can donate each month.

To add a little something to Designer Stubble's great quote above, the same Zion's Watch Tower said...
"When He who says: ‘All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication.” (Zion's Watch Tower, August 1879)
If all the gold and silver belong to the God that backs Watchtower by his spirit, then why are the followers constantly being asked (reminded) to give more money to support the organization?
If Watchtower sincerely meant the above quoted words, it's way past "time to suspend the publication."

Fisherman: What I do know is that Plaintiff wants what is in WT deep pocket. That is a fact.
Is it really a fact that Conti wants Watchtower's money, or is that what you want people to think? If it is a fact I would love to see the evidence, so please prove it.

Statue of Marsyas died on a stake?
by enigma1863 inso jws have been spreading this picture around claiming it supports the roman torture stake belief.
this is the statue of marsyas the satyr, a greek mythical creature.
he lost a challenge to apollo and was flayed.

...wouldn't this show evidence that the stake was of pagan origin as well?
It sure would. Watchtower has stated that Jesus was actually murdered because of unfair violations of procedure at his trial. If the cross would not have been used to execute Jesus because it is pagan, as Watchtower says, are we to believe that the torture stake is a Christian instrument of murder? There is no such thing.
Stakes and crosses were both used by pagan societies in the first century. One is no more Christian than the other.

"do not go beyond the things written"
by stuckinarut2 inthanks to bu2b and splash who mentioned this quote in another thread!.
but i thought it deserved a thread all of its own, such is the impact of this:.
the very best example of going beyond the things written comes from a 2008 watchtower.

There was a video posted here...where a reporter jumped into one of the GB's face while he was exiting a convention stage and asked a couple of questions.
It's at about the 4 min, 10 sec mark. The reporter asked questions about the pedophilia problem of JWs, and the Society's list of offenders. Ted Jaracz, not wanting to address the reporters pointed questions, replied by saying 'We don't go beyond the things that are written.' -

So typical of Watchtower leadership. Always pretending to follow Bible rules and guidelines, but all the while making up their own.
I believe that when a person begins to see through that they have taken the first step toward leaving the organization.

The Society admits, in a very general way, that even people that have been "prominent in Jehovah's organization" have committed every kind of immorality there is - homosexuality, wife swapping, child molesting.

Several years ago the Society published that if an elder commits a serious sin, and keeps it quiet for 2 or 3 years, he doesn't need to be removed as an elder even if the sin is discovered later.
Governing Body members would get at least that much leniency.
Here it is from the Kingdom Ministry. It involves a discussion of what "some years ago" and "distant past" means. The terms can mean as little as 2 or 3 years.
(Kingdom Ministry - October, 1972)
Here it is again, several years later, re-affirmed in the Elder's Manual
(Shepherd The Flock of God, p38. [2010 Elder's Manual])
