i'm sure we're all familiar with the crazy excuse that the watch tower society leadership came up with to justify their nine year period as a un ngo (non governmental organization).

amazingly, this seems to make perfect sense with watch tower apologists, who don't stop for a moment to ponder the following:.

you don't need to be a un ngo to use the un libraryif it was so innocent for them to hold un ngo status just to use the library, why did they withdraw their status when the issue received media attention?that aside, we are now witnessing the unravelling of fresh scandals to hit the society, most notably:.

ScenicViewer, not if they're just obtaining data for their publications that can't be acquired elsewhere.

That is rationalilzing. There is no data the WTS needs for it's publications that would necessitate violating the Bible guidline to 'quit touching the unclean thing.'

Why would any witness have the need to go to the YMCA when there are gyms and swimming pools all over the place?

More rationalizing. There are also fine libraries all over the place. Especially in New York City!

But you miss the point. It is the principal that counts here, not how many swimming pools there are.

I guess no one viewed that video I found on YT.

I watched all of it. It seemed to be an accurate portrayal of the Watchtower view of the Beasts of Revelation, and most of the pictures looked like they were from the Revelation book.

I guess I don't get your point in posting it. It shows the UN is headed for destruction, along with all the rest of Satan's worldwide political system. Which raises the question, why would the Watchtower want to have anything to do with the UN? The scriptural rule says,

"Therefore get out from among them and separate yourselves, says Jehovah, and quit touching the unclean thing, and I will take you in...says Jehovah the Almighty." (2 Cor 6:17, 18)

As many have mentioned, this is a case of the Watchtower not only violating Bible guidelines, but the very policies it imposes on others as well.

Can you see what an unscriptural double standard that is?

You're being too rigid and inflexable about things. Everything isn't black and white in the world.

You could say the same thing about swimming at the YMCA, but that is a disfellowshipping offense. It's the Watchtower that makes inflexible rules. Then violates them at it's own convenience. It's a grotesque double standard. Why can't you see that?

As soon as the WTS learned that the requirements (entailing UN support) had changed, they immediately withdrew their membership.

No they didn't. They applied for disassociation as soon as they were exposed in the press; when the information went public and they couldn't hide it anymore. This in itself is a sign of guilt. Any judicial committee would tell you that.

why do jw's think that by behaving weridly they are giving a "good witness"?

you know when they refuse to attend family functions that invole anything religous, won't chink glasses, won't allow their children any freedom etc.

from their perspective they think they are setting "a fine example" and givng a "good witness" the outsiders just think they are bat crazy but the jw's just can't see it???

$500,000 in damages one time, and $400,000 in damages the next. Can this KH be worth over a million dollars? Must be in the high rent district.

And now a third attempt, but it didn't ignite. Somebody's going to have to hire a security guard.

When did this "written review" idea get started?

for some reason, i simply cannot remember any written review being done and graded in all my jw time (1962 to about 1980).. have i completely forgotten this, or did it get started after i had left?.

I remember the first time I was at a meeting where a written review was taken. I thought, 'You have to take tests in this religion?' I should have seen that as a red flag and run far and fast!
