i just watched the live feed from the russian court room and followed the updates on the russian exjw forum.. just waiting for confirmation from other sources...but, it looks like the final (and expected) result is:.
banned.
which means that the wts property in russia now belongs to the russian state..

"The supreme court stated the JW are extremist organization and dissolved them"
i used to dread seeing a witness coming toward me.
now i am quite comfortable and hope that they may say something to me..... does your blood pressure rise when you see a jw coming toward you?
?.
It was an experiment. I wasn’t sure how a regular Witness would be welcomed here.
Tom, how would an exjw be treated on jwtalk? Nobody removes your comments, nobody edits and removes parts of them, people are willing to discuss.
You are coming here and writing things we heard million times in decades of being JWs: 900 languages, JW do not go to war, there is a brotherhood, ... What do you expect? Somebody to come back to you and say "Yes, Tom, I have not thought about this, you opened my mind, I am returning to the governing body?"

Apostates try to reframe this to suggest there would be no pedophilia problem without Jehovah's Witnesses.
I would say you try to reframe what "apostates" suggest. Classic strawman. What is criticized is not the fact there are paedophiles in the org, but the way the organization handled these cases - two witnesses rule, shunning of victims if they leave the org, not reporting it to the police, ...

The 'God's channel' can be seen in deeds, as much of more so than in words, (...)
It is seen in the representative fact of the 900 languages, ...
What is then boundary between words and deeds? # of languages in which the words are said does not change the fact they are still words. That is meaning of the God's channel - to communicate words from God. In this case words are deeds.
If you were not JW, would the number of languages convince you to summit your life to the org? Even if you knew no prediction had came true?
And what in case there will be other organization with more languages? Will you then leave the JW?
I fully respect your decision, but the fact you presented does not convince me the GB is the God's sole channel. I will not go to a mechanic fully equipped with modern tools who has 0% success rate in repairs.
i dont know where to start so why not at the beginning.
i was seeing this girl and we hit it off great chemistry.
it went from a physical to a deeper relationship.
What i dont understand is why and who would tell her no to associate with me. The people in that JW hall seem happy to see me there in the meeting and sunday mass.
They are also trying to "help you" (translation: to bring you to the cult). JW will always try to make better impression toward external people. Try to ask them about shunning, ask them whether nonJW will be destroyed in Armageddon and you will never get the right answer. They do not see it as a lie, they feel like parents who cannot disclose everything to their child.

As to promises that did not turn out equated to lies, whenever someone throws one of them at me, I say: "Oh, we changed that.
They would not equate to lies normally, but in case you claim you are the sole God's communication channel and you require absolute obedience, then they do. Deuteronomy 18,20-22 also would not apply to an Israelite who said "I think tomorrow there will be a storm" and the storm did not come. But in case somebody said "I am God's channel and in YHWH name I say tomorrow..." then it applied.
And you know well, there is 0% prediction success rate for the GB interpretations. How can they then dare to claim they are the God's channel?
You completely ignore misquotes and manipulations WTBTS use. Are they not lies?
The Witness world does its best to be Bible based and thus is 180 degrees from the non-Witness world in which Christianity will surely end up the loser.
Claim without proof. Blood policy not based on Bible, shunning not based, in the past organ transplant ban was not based too, civilian service ban too, ...

Should I stumble when it became my turn? I’d read whiner after whiner carrying on about some personal affront or other on the internet. Was I going to be one of them?
Tom, there are some stereotypes the organization disseminates. One of them is people leave JW because they stumble.
I appreciate you overcome your temptation to stumble and I tell you, if it was only some stumbling that moved me out of the org I would be still a loyal JW. Read stories here, people leave the org because they find it is not "the truth". Some may leave because of being stumbled but definitely, it is not the major reason.
Let’s face it - many of Jehovah’s Witnesses are nuts, but none are liars.
The literature is full of misquotes and manipulation, so the people that produce it are liars. How do you view G. Jackson and his attempts to trick the ARC? Is he a honest person?
i dont know where to start so why not at the beginning.

James87, many of us tried to convince our families the JWs are not right. We were JWs too, we know faults of that religion, we can point to them, we read the old WTS literature... and still we are absolutely powerless when talking to our beloved. Some of them looked a bit lukewarm in their beliefs, but when we confronted them, they switched to fully cultish mode. I do not say there is 0% chance, some attempts really helped others to get out of the cult, but I would like to say, do not hope you will help her out of JWism - results are unpredictable and chances are low.
Next, if she marries you, she will be
considered spiritually weak, the one "who did a mistake", the one who "did
not obey loving counsels Jehovah gives us through the organization",
etc. Maybe it does not look as a big thing, but this will put more
pressure on your marriage. Any mistake you will do will be interpreted
in this light. She will hear other examples of people that are unevenly
yoked and how they regret they were not obedient. Everybody in the
congregation will look to her with pity and use her example to educate their
children on how marriage with an unbeliever does not
work. When you will push too much against her beliefs, she will be
reassured there is "a biblical reason" to separate from you. All JWs will expect your marriage to fail.
Have you seen this Watchtower propaganda video? It will help you to understand JW worldview and how they will see your potential marriage

In other words. You threw some claims here, you got debunked, ... let us now return to the original topic

But they will not be able to do this, for upon leaving Jehovah's organization, persons quickly shed whatever unity they once had
1) It is not "Jehovah's organization" it is but an organization that claims it is "Jehovah's organization" with no proof given considering 0% prediction success rate.
2) When person leaves LDS, Unification church, ... he loses unity too. Fortunately we do not have a human leader anymore that can DF us for a lack of unity.
He will know that there is one nation on earth in which every citizen cares deeply about every other. He has never seen anything like it. He will not forget it, regardless of the trial's outcome.
Yes, we see this in Australia, how citizens of the JW nation care for victims of child abuse...
What with extensive media coverage, Time and the New York Times, for example, one can reasonably expect that millions will visit jw.org to see whether it is extremist or not.
I can imagine the GB is so happy their slaves in Russia have problems, they will use it to promote themselves in the same way as Rutherford used the Nazi persecution.
Generally, Tom, if you are trying to convince people to return to your governing body, maybe you should consider to give strong arguments for 607, to explain why Hemoglobine transfusion is okay and the platelets are not, to find some prediction of the Watchtower that came true, etc. This would be more powerful that repeating standard clichés like "wonderful unity of JW", "peaceful and caring people", "former members hate group", ...
