Until I came to this forum, I never realized just how many people are stuck in and cant get out mainly out of the fear. I know many baptized young ones who would gladly jump ship if they could get the opportunity but stay in because of that fear. Though I don't think many leave for the right reasons(my opinion anyway), fact of the matter is the young people are generally becoming less and less interested. It's EXTREMELY apparent in the fight a young spouses. sisters wil practically attack one another for that "spiritual" brother. And vice versa. It seems to become a lot more difficult for them to find spiritual husbands and wives in the borg.

both girls were elder's daughters.
they aren't elders now because they were somewhat problem teens.

DoC- Lol! You put it very nicely. And that's pretty much a fact. It's an impossible concept to take on. "Accept whatever we say as it is from Jehovah himself. But if it happens to be wrong, ignore and discard it, as it wasn't really from God. We were just making things up as best we could"

Birthdays - For You Vientotz
by outsmartthesystem inbirthdays.
i have always questioned the witness belief that birthdays are not to be celebrated.
another reason is that various customs that tend to accompany birthday celebrations have pagan origins.

Just remember that if you EVER become a witness, you will be teaching others these same things. You would have to explain without hesitation why you cannot celebrate Birthdays. Any deviation from ANY teaching is equal to "apostacy", and you will be subsequently disfellowshipped. Just keep that in mind before making any rash decisions.
Honestly I joined here coz I want to convince myself to believe Jehovah's words, for I thought that this site was made by faithful JW's XD
^Nope no faithful witnesses here. We have all been there or are even STILL there. Please do not FORCE yourself to believe it anything. Note these statement's by Raymod Franz(former GB member):
Initially I was attracted by the appeal to reasoning made by
many Watch Tower publications. Since these publications were
often designed to encourage people of other religions to reexamine
and reevaluate, even to question, the validity of their religion’s
teachings, it was imperative that these publications stress the need
to think for oneself, to do independent thinking. People in the beginning
are regularly encouraged not to believe teachings without
first testing them thoroughly according to Scripture. But the testing
is restricted almost entirely to the individual’s previously held
beliefs, and only certain of these are targeted for testing. Such
teachings as the inherent immortality of the human soul, the belief
in a hell of literal fire and physical torment or similar points
are the focus of much of the “testing.” The argumentation is generally
quite well developed on these points. Because of this the
person is often sufficiently impressed that, as other presentations
of teachings follow, he or she inclines to accept these more or less
on trust, without requiring the same evidence.
Remarkably, most Witnesses are so impressed by these initially
targeted teachings about the soul’s mortality, hell’s being synonymous
with the grave or the death state, and similar points that they
think and speak of them as “the basic doctrines” of the Scriptures,
teachings forming the principal criteria for identifying the one, true
religion.-----So if you wish to accept a few teachings here and there, that's ok. But don't accept everything at face vaule simply because you have noticed a few things that seem right :)
Best of luck in your studies!

I think it all depends on your definition of "encouragement". For the witnesses, it was an opportunity for them to get more confidence in the GB...a time when they could be reviewed and make sure their FS wasn't waining..a time for them to be encouranged to pioneer or just put in more FS hours....etc,etc,etc. Here's some WT articles on the CO's visit:
*** w10 6/15 pp. 30-31 Coping With a Spouse’s Betrayal ***
One of the ways Jehovah provides comfort is through the Christian congregation. Jane received such support. “The circuit overseer’s visit came at a point when I was very low emotionally,” recalls Jane. “He knew how depressed I was as a result of my husband’s filing for a divorce. He took the time to help me reason on such scriptures as 1 Corinthians 7:15. The Bible verses and his kind comments helped relieve my feelings of guilt and provided me with some peace of mind.”*** w99 10/15 p. 25 Can You Serve in a Foreign Field? ***
Chris, the wife of Jesse quoted earlier, relates: “I remember our first circuit overseer’s visit, after we had been here just three months. I could tell that the brother was using illustrations and was saying something beautiful to try to touch our hearts, but I could not understand him. Right there in the hall, I burst into tears. These were not gentle tears; I was sobbing. After the meeting, I tried to explain my conduct to the circuit overseer. He was very kind and told me what everyone else kept telling me, ‘Ten paciencia, hermana’ (‘Have patience, sister’). Two or three years later, we met again and talked for 45 minutes, reveling in the fact that we could communicate.”*** w97 10/1 p. 32 Showing Love to Those in Need ***
“Two weeks before my wife’s death, our circuit overseer paid us an encouraging visit. He even showed the slides that the congregation would see at the end of the week. We were able to listen to the meetings over the telephone—including the meetings for field service conducted by the circuit overseer. At one of these, he had all those present for field service say ‘hello,’ as a group, to my wife. Thus, even though she was isolated physically, she never felt alone. This is how they feel "encouraged" when he visits. Of course, we all know what a facade is put on by all member's when the CO visits. Special arragements for lunch....everyone goes out in service....everyone is on their best behavior.....can't have him going back to the GB with a bad report. I loathe his visit because he tries to get me to pioneer every year. Of course, I put on a facade of my own, faking a reassuring smile that he encouraged me and I will put in the application at once.
HA!

Some JW's don't take NO for an answer till the house holder gets upset...
^Very true. Then they cry persecution when clearly they brought it upon themselves.
