I wish they would come to my door..... I'd quick run and put on my thigh-highs with the bows and babydoll nightie and answer the door that way and act really interested in what they were offering...

Hi MC,
I would like to suggest that you add the "explosive potentialities of variational imitation sucrose products" to your list.
It's really fun! And tasty too!
"Wintergreen" lifesavers work too. I've tested them all.
Thanks for the smile moment.

URGENT AND IMPORTANT. TO BE READ BY ALL
by bj inin france, a new parlament report on sects was just writen (but not yet published)by alain vivien(president of mils)and his team.
to the surprise of all ex-jw victims, jehovah's witnesses are now recognisied as "association confessionnel", in other words religion.
if this would be published, it would be another victory for the wbts worldwide and open new opportunities for them which they well know how to take profit.

Hawkaw good point.
There are/is a postitute in California who falls under the tax-exempt status of "religion" because she claims to be "Goddess." Having sex with her is how people "worship" her.
I think it would be a difficult argument to take up, Joe. I'm support your efforts, however...

Hey, there is a very good article on Mormon shunning on the front page of the Saturday Los Angeles Times. I'm going to respond to this journalist and tell him about the dubs. I think maybe if many did this, a good story on dubs might come out - maybe even front page too.
This article - same copy, same author - appeared on page 9A of the Baltimore Sun today.Go here: http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/la-000095596dec01.story
This article is also perfect for showing those witness relatives of ours who shun us. They will see how much similarity they have to mormons. And it is perfect because the mormons have the 12 apostles = the GB; they call people who leave "apostates;" they shun their own relatives; they don't let their kids play with non-mormons and they also go door-to-door.
Bluesapphire, do you or does anyone know if there is an ex-LDS grassroots movement driving the publication of such press? I'm wondering what is prompting major newspapers to promulgate this information.
And, like you, I'm wondering if ex-JW's can achieve similar results. You mentioned trying to get in touch with the author of the article. Could you bring it to our attention if you get any reply?
The piece is direct, and effective.

Apt Illustration???
by Kismet ini used to love using illustrations in my talks (student, public whatever) even now i still use illustrations to help student's i teach in some of the courses i run.. i was thinking about something that happened to me while working for a private wealth company owned by a major canadian bank.... .
one day while the ceo was away from the office i caught a mistake going through the system involving a transaction for one of the clients and a subsequent presentation to said client regarding the changeover being undertaken.
the mistake, while approved and already initiated by those responsible, could have cost the company several tens of thousands in penalties and if finalized would have called into question this client (worth over $45 million) staying with the company.. tho not really my job, i initiated corrective measures, spent the night re-doing much of the work involved.

LOL @ Prisca...
What a great post Kismet. One of the reasons I frequent this board almost daily is the vast range of human expressions and experiences.
There's this weird thing with people who are .. familiar? intimate? with each other.... it goes somewhat like "if you don't see things from my point of view and agree, I just can't stand it.... I'll argue my point and badger you for causing me this grief and get things so twisted up that we can't even remember what the issue is....
I read this great book years ago about the circular dances people do (usually family members) because of that uncomfortable tension. I wondered where the "we all must be of like mind" law came from. Flash of insight! What a dumb law!!!
When people I care about don't "get it" when I find myself unwilling or unable to accommodate their - well, whatevers (example that comes to mind: ex-husband stating his excruciatingly insufferable and meddlesome mother was coming to visit for ten days; unfortunately, he'll be in Europe the whole time though...) I actually told him well, that was fine, but I will choose to be out of town as well. He was mad as hell, but she didn't visit, and I don't have to live with the resentment that would've been guaranteed to last a lifetime!
Thanks for the thought-provoking topic.

"The prophet is not diverted by illusions of past, present and future. The fixity of language determines such linear distinctions. Prophets hold a key to the lock in a language. The mechanical image remains only an image to them. This is not a mechanical universe. The linear progression of events is imposed by the observer. Cause and effect? That's not it at all. The prophet utters fateful words. You glimpse a thing "destined to occur." But the prophetic instant releases something of infinite portent and power. The universe undergoes a ghostly shift. Thus, the wise prophet conceals actuality beyond shimmering labels. The unititialted then believe the prophetic language is ambiguous. The listener distrusts the prophetic messenger. Instinct tells you how the utterance blunts the power of such words. The best prophets lead you up to the curtain and let you peer through for yourself."

Dear Bill,
I am going to have to print this out and read and re-read it many times. My intitial reaction to it is so powerful and I'm gripped with emotions such that I cannot absorb it all in one sitting.
Thank God for you and your willingness to hold onto honor and integrity. And for your courage, strength in holding up under indescribable adversity, and for not buckling under the unfathomably evil, unmitigated and intentional attempts to subvert your reasoning ability. You have shown us that it can be done.
Thank you and all that you have accomplished.

i guess we should have used the money to pay bills...but you have to splurge once in a while.
i play nascar heat and caused about 34 wrecks...very neat game.. and to think if i was a jw still i would have been sitting in the book group instead of taking out dale jarrett and kevin harvick.. what a shame!

Hi Eyebrow,
I live with a 3-D digital artist who makes computer games.
I asked him just this morning if he had his preference, which of the new playstations he would want (fishing for gift ideas....)
He said the Xbox.... the future is bright for those Xboxes. There are so many ideas in play for that thing that it's scary.... watch out!
Have fun!!!!!! lauralisa
