I have a couple of other questions. What year did you graduate from college? At the time of your graduation, how many other JWs graduated from college, in a time period of plus or minus five years from the date of your graduation? When I graduated from college I was only one out of 100 JW kids that I knew, many of these being very intellectualy gifted.
Now, you may get angry at my in your face approach, but I think these are legitimate questions based on what you have said and what you have not said.

I don't recall you writing about yourself in any detail. Are you still a JW? If not, how long have you been out.? What kind of college degree did you get? If you are in, do you voice comments to your brothers like you do here? If you are out, why are you out? Why do you have such distain for people who have suffered? What are your other disbeliefs? The picture is very incomplete here.

Your comments are right on the money, and by contrast I find Xandit's comments to be very peculiar. On the 1975 thread he maintained that the majority of JW's took 1975 with a grain of salt. That's just not the way it was. To take it with a grain of salt means you don't believe it. Twice, I asked Xandit if he shared his disbeliefs regarding 1975 and the no college rule with his JW brothers, and I also asked him if he had other disbeliefs. He never did answer me.
This thing about the WT saying we never said you can't, we just suggest that you shouldn't. That is similiar to what you face when you work for a very authoritarian boss. If he says to you, "I suggest that you do this." That is not a suggestion. That is a direct order. Authoritarian religions are the same, as you pionted out in your examples above.

as far as i know, it is the only book written by a woman about the witness experience.

Third generation, one hour pulbic talks at age 17, pioneered two years, had a minister's clasification from the draft board, accepted at Bethel, got married instead, been inactive for some time now. Go find the post started by thinker called "JW Dictionary" I think you'll be able to tell from my verbiage there that I know the in's and out's of it, plus I think you'll find it entertaining reading.

I know a person that is very knowlegable regarding JW history. He that her write up on Russel is not accurate. I may go back and reread it with a more objective frame of mind and see what I think then. If I find places that appear to be a stretch, I'll make note of them.

I am gald for you that you have a spiritual guide in MDS. Obviously, I am not convinced. I have asked several questions regarding points of clarification, which he refused to answer, because he said I was insincere. Since you are sincere, why don't you ask him these questions in private.
Both the scriptures you quote and the statements MDS makes are abiguous enough to fit a wide range of situations and outcomes. If he fixes the date of 2001 as being important, then he can take events in 2002 and say after the fact that they were fulfillment of his predictions. Psychics, fortune tellers and clairvoyants use this technique all the time, i.e., say something vague and then after an event they show how it fits, and those who are motivated to believe, do believe. (People who do this are not demon possessed they are very clever. It has been shown in many studies, that their claims fail under scientific scrutiny) What, for example, does the word "trample" mean as applied to the 42 months? A good prophet should have a very specific image of what this means and what will happen, if they are worth their salt as a prophet. When will this trampling begin, in 2002, or is this unkown? He did make on thing clear. Ony about one third will repent. Now that prediction is measurable.
One minor point. You said that Jehovah could have a prophecy fulfilled many times. Well, yes I suppose he could, but has he? If so, could you find a prophesy in the Bible that has been fulfilled many times and list each of the fulfillments?

The reason I asked you about the 49th chapter, is because MDS wrote that the scripture described his role. I wonder if you agree. If not, who is it?
If you read my previous posts, you will note that I don't care for insults. It irritates me and it doesn't prove your case. Saying that I "don't know much about Jehovah" is an assertion and an insult. Why don't you stick to rational dialogue?
You asked if I can prove if the prophesy of Isaiah was entirely fulfilled by Israel back then. If it wasn't, then Isaiah's words were not inspired and he was a false propet. Can you prove that it wasn't entirely fulfilled back then?

I was wondering if any of you have read a book "Visions of Glory" by Barbara Grizzutti Harrison. As far as I know, it is the only book written by a woman about the witness experience. She is a very good writer, and gives a different slant to the subject. Since writing this book she has gone on and written several novels and essays for prestigious magazines. Her JW book is out print of now, but you could get it via interlibrary loan.
Her book is not mentioned by xJW writers and is not mentioned in their newsletters. I don't think she is ignored because she is female. I think it is because she is very honest about her life style and the traditional writers probably consider her too deviant to support. At any rate, I think you would find it to be a good read, if you already haven't done so.
I would also be interested in any nonfiction, good reading to learn new stuff that you would recommend on nonreligous subjects. I will describe some I like later on.
