Thank you for this post. This is the exact material I need when I write my brother about how I feel. You touch on all of the things I feel are important to me on why I left. I just can't put those ideas to paper like that. You made my weekend thanks again. Totally ADD

Info For Newbies and Current Jehovah's Witnesses! Please Read!
by mentallyfree31 inexample: gravity is real.
because if 607 bce is wrong, then so is 1914 and 1918 and 1919. very simple.
so if we cannot trust secular research, then we can definitely discard the date of 607 bce.

At 15 years of age I remember the 1969 DC in Altanta GA during July. Everyday over 100 degrees F. Sorry I don't know what that is C. degrees. Then around 3 to 4 in the afternoon big thunder stroms would roll in with lighting. Then until the end of the day at 9PM "back then the time was 9 AM to 9 PM" we would have a steam bath. On top of it there was no plan for the friends for extra ice or water. Matter of fact I think there was a ice shortage in Altanta that week. That lasted 7 or 8 days I can't remember how long that thing was. I do remember we went home all swollen and sick with heat and sun exposure. It took us a week to get over that. Totally ADD

The WT cult hates large groups of R&F having a social gathering. Only large groups they want if a KH, CA and DC. Last hall we were at many felt getting together was a sin. I remember a letter to the body of elders on the problems of large gatherings and the big question "what is a large group?" we ask the CO about what number to put on it and he said between 40 to 60 people. Also if there is a large gathering one or two elders have to be the watch dogs and make sure no one is doing something bad. Most elders hated that job and I think that is one of the reason the good old days of the friends having a social life is over. Totally ADD

Just print on a tract or card with one question "Are you looking forward to the 100 year anniversary of Christ reignin in 2014?" or "Which part of the over lapping generation are you?" That's it just some simple question that makes them think. Totally ADD

FADERS: How determined are you?
by VampireDCLXV inafter being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.
there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.
some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

#1. Very determined. It makes me sick to think of going back.
#2. All the years in I have learned most of the freindships were superficial and conditional. No not really.
#3. My mother a JW has nothing to do with me and my wife. My brother because of being 11 plus years apart really have never been brothers. We just know each other as brothers. My kids are with us their wives are not at this time. It could mean we will not be able to see the grand kids. We don't know yet. I never got to know the rest of my relatives because according to my parents they were part of satans world. So yes and no to this one.
#4. Not any more. It is a cult. I am very comfortable with this thought. I have been hurt very bad because of this cult.
#5. No not now. I had them for years when I was in the cult.
#6. I am now almost 6 months since my last meeting. I step down as a elder at the end of last year. I have moved 1000 miles away in the last 2 months. I at this point if I am DF'd I could care less. I am still kicking around sending a letter to my so called new congregation here were I moved to. Nobody has stop by yet to see us. I doubt they will for I have never been to the hall here. Also had the secretary from our old hall send our cards to a congregation out of our territory because it just as close to go there than to the one in our territory.
Reopened Mind and me are to busy trying to get our buisness up and running to worry about the cult of JW. Totally ADD

Mr. Snowbird and I Are Reconciling
by snowbird inwe've agreed to compromise on our differences and support each other through the years we have left.. i'm seeing a psychiatrist today to deal with my difficulties that stem from a traumatic and tumultuous childhood.. he is willing to yield in his beliefs that a man should control everything and make all the decisions.. being a stubborn jamaican, i realize how hard that is for him.. we're going to renovate the house so that he has his own quarters.. that way, my boisterous g'kids won't work his nerves too badly.. just wanted to put it out there.. syl.

I have never seen a relationship last without alot of hard work by both mates. Reopened Mind and me sometimes wonder how we lasted so long with each others. We are just two stubborn people. We both have only in the last few years have a peaceful life with each other and are happy. Leaving the cult has help. But a better understanding of each other is what has made the difference. Instead of trying to change each other we have come to understand why each one of us feels that way. By doing that we are able to change were it matters and the rest we just accept what does not really matter. It works for us. Everybody problems are different this is just what works for us. I am happy you both are working hard to stay together. The rewards out weigh the sacrifices you both are making. Good luck to both of you. Totally ADD

Aussie Oz it sounds like the lawyers had their hand in this one. How could they in anyway bring out to watch out for any inappropriate action by a elder or MS in the congregation without bringing on what they think is undo attention to them. I remember when I was a teenager they did not even have the YPA book if they had anything to say about children it always made me feel they just don't care. When I had young children the TPA book was out. When I read it as a father I saw how out of touch they were then. I always loved the elders who would give talks about children at the KH were never parents. Boy there was nothing they didn't know about kids. And the beat goes on in the JW cult. Totally ADD

Just heard JW's make 750 million a month!
by foolsparadise inmy friend who still goes to meetings to please family said he was listening to cnbc today.. he said the government is talking about taxing religions.
the one religion they did focus on was the jehovahs witnesses.
supposedly they said why is this group making this much tax free money and they never pay any clergy or help members with any finances.. maybe they will realize it is just a publishing company using people for free labor to get richer and richer.

I don't know about that on what OnTheWayOut said "I doubt WTS pulls in that much". The last congregation I was in with only 80 pub. would send monthly between $700 to $900 to the Worldwide Work. If it was only a average of $500 per. month with 100,000 congregation that come up to $50,000,000 per month times 12 that is $600,000,000 per. year. Plus all the other monies that come into the WT. It seems what comes in makes no sense to what goes out. Totally ADD
