Please Post Reasons For Not Believing The Witnesses Have The "Truth" Anymore

i see a few want to believe in the watchtower's view of bible prophecy, scriptural understandings and the view that the "anointed remnant" dispense the "spiritual food at the proper time".. how would you refute those views?.

I own a copy of Furuli's book and have read and studied it at lenght, when I was still a convinced JW. Reading it pushed me to read all concerned bible verses in its context, and once I have read Jeremia 25 in context, it was obvious he was misrepresenting on purpose what was written in the bible. JW only respect him because he defends their unscriptural point of view. Even the WTS realizes they cannot write about him as a scholar, as they would have done so in the 01nov2011 issue. His book was an important nail in the coffin of my faith in the Watchtower Society. Please read 1st Furuli s book and then read C.O Jonssons Gentile Times Reconsidered. As you then have seen both sides of the story, you can judge for yourselves.

if you like to go down this road, please provide a scripture that positively identifies Rutherford as one of the 2 servants.

Please note that Russel already was the Laodicean (7th) messenger according to the Finished mystery. So Rutherford cannot be that one.

Isaiah 41 has nothing to do with the identification of the 2 witnesses. You cannot just pull scriptures out of their context and apply them as you like. There are many places in the bible where 2 groups are mentioned, but that does not prove they have another application in the 20th century.

Mankeli cannot count. Rutherford + 7 associates = 8 people is not the same amount as 2 (two) witnesses.

If Mankelli had some primary school education he would realize the numbers are not correct.

The 1st world war cannot be used as an argument to support the 1914 prophecy, for the simple fact that it started too early. The 2520 years ended in october/november 1914, whereas the war had already begun in June. Satan and his hordes were only thrown out of heaven AFTER the start of the kingdom (autumn 1914).

About the socalled good attitude of the Bible students back in the day, it is good to remember that Russel sold "miracle wheat" for an enormous price. Furthermore the colpolters of the day were there to "sell" the volumes of studies in the scriptures, even if the very same volume with a different name was already in the household. If JW of today would hold on to the attitude and teachings of 1919, they would be disfellowshipped.

Examining the details of what the society published just before and after 1919, proves there was no selection at all going on. Actually this was proven by the fact that 10 years later, the Bible students under Rutherford had halved in number. If there would be some kind of blessing by Holy Spirit, you would expect an opposite result.

Why Some Suffer Spiritual Shipwreck

when paul warned of experiencing shipwreck, he had in mind some who had thrust aside their good conscience and had lost their faith.

(1 timothy 1:19) among them were hymenaeus and alexander who fell into apostasy, deviating from the truth and speaking abusively.

I am quite happy to have left the sinking ship "Watchtower Bible & Tract Society" also known as "Chistian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses", because just as the Titanic in 1912, it has hit rocks or icebergs (one iceberg is called : the love of many JW has cooled down below freezing point) and has holes all over under the wareline, and it is sinking fast. I cannot in good faith and conscience remain connected to it. The moral values it is practicing is too low, definitely compared to what it is boasting about. In order to keep a good conscience in the face of God Almighty, I jumped in a rescue vessel and I feel sincerely sorry for all those still aboard. Many had good faith in the Titanic, as do many in the Society. That faith is not going to save them, just as it did not save any 99 years ago. Nor is any of the socalled great worldwide witnesses works going to save them either. Remaining in the borg is a clear course to spiritual shipwreck.

What would you do if your JW spouse did...?

okay, i don't mean to rant but i am not sure where to turn.

the issues that i am having with my wife are not related to her being a jw but it does make me think of other situations where the religion is credited for the jw spouse's exceptional behavior (even when it has nothing to do with the religion).. my wife has her heart set on going to disney this year, but she has no real plan on saving the money to go.

in addition to this, she needs have some money to replace her lost income over the summer when she takes her internship to get her teacher's license.

It took some time and effort to get the message through (it took more than one discussion, some heated arguments were involved, but any way, I guess they are already there in your house). But yes, it did help. The illustration of Jesus about calculating the cost before building the tower might help (I kid you not).

Hello Gary,

Sorry to read about this kind of unnecessary stress for you. Actually financial problems (including differences about how to go about money) are one of the major reasons marriages break up (sex is the other one). If your spouse is behaving irresponsible with the money, she needs a realistic view of the matter. I made an excel with graphics to show our financial history to my wife, and where we would be if the situation (spending behaviour) would not change. I explained her I could not afford to support the continuous expenses, and I felt bad and failing as a husband and that even doing a lot of overtime hours could not close the gap. I requested her reduce the expectations on life, and if she wanted something extra, to put money aside herself on beforehand. If nothing helps, asking the bank to drastically limit the credit card limit, or even split the legal responsability by means of a marriage contract, if that is possible. I hope one of these suggestions helps.

Advice for those who want to stay in, for some reason.One of the ways to get Elders off your back is to have an ally in the BOE, especially the one who is often on JC's.

that way you are a little bit assured of not getting punished or of getting a very lenient outcome if you happen to find yourself on jc..

No need for that. It could be contraproductive. If you don't have enemies in the BOE, there is no reason to put yourself on their radar screen. Fading is avoiding attention, not avoiding problems with the elders. If you are giving presents to an elder or somebody else in the congo, at one point you will have to stop doing so. This will unavoidable draw the attention, and can endanger the process of fading. I am afraid I cannot second your advice.

have anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?

its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .

if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

For comparison:

The Italian & French translation literally translated the English "hit me" into their equivalent in the language. "m'avait frappé (has hit me)" & "mi aveva messo le mani addasso (put the hand on me = hit me)"

The German and Dutch versions, toned it down to "flipped out - (fuchsteufelswild)" and "got agressif".

At least some translators have some thoughtfulness, as both languages also allow for a more literal translation, but they choose not to use it. I definitely find this very disturbing, taking in account that the situation potentially existed for more than 15 years, and blaming the victim for it. Against all sound advice.
