Welcome, AiAi! Look forward to hearing more from you.
Wow! That's 3 new posters tonight.
hi everyone, i have checked this site out every once in awhile as i was on my way out and as i found myself coming back more and more recently i decided i should probably become a member....
Welcome, AiAi! Look forward to hearing more from you.
Wow! That's 3 new posters tonight.
i can't believe the amount of new posters this board is getting.
it seems as if every day there are at least 2 to 3.. if you are a new poster, what made you decide to stop lurking and start posting?
how many of us are there that have joined in the last year?.
I joined so I could read everything, and lurked for a while before I started posting.
I don't remember how exactly, but I found the Silent Lambs website and that broke my heart. It also got me researching everything I once believed.
i'm stuck in said: you give me a chance to see that I was not crazy after all.
This exactly! And I've come to realize I'm not a sinful wrong-doer that's cut off from God. Nope, I was born into a cult with ridiculous, man-made rules that most people have trouble living up to.
Edited: What got me from lurking to posting? I just wanted to join in. If my reading other people's posts helped me, I wanted to be part of helping others too. I was scared at first of being outed with that label, because I know how my family would react. But I got over it.
so did anyone notice the statement on page 11, paragraph 11?
"if a brother has been baptized at least one year and to a reasonable degree meets the scriptural qualifications fo rministerial servants outlined at 1 timothy 3:8-13, he can be recommended for appointment.
" i thought paul specifically warned against appointing a "newly converted man"?
If they're putting brothers, who haven't proved their loyalty yet, in responsible positions; they could have a big rebellion on their hands eventually. Maybe this is good news.
i was listening to a guy on youtube, (21 crosscheck 21) and i thought he brought up a pretty valid point.
he says jws should stop preaching immediatly because according to them if i've never heard the "truth" then god would read my heart and i would be resurrected and given the chance to live forever.
so basicly if some idiot knocks on my door trying to tell me the "good news" and for whatever reason i slam the door in their face, i've just condemed myself to eternal nothingness, but if they never came to the door in the first place, i'd be ok, or at least given the chance to pet lions forever?
Blondie, thanks for those!
As a side note: When you look up the scriptures they use, it's so obvious they've got it wrong. Ezekiel, the mark is given to those sighing and groaning over the detestable things done in the city of Jerusalem, no mention of baptism. Rev 7 has the great crowd before the throne, serving in the temple. No mention of them surviving because they were part of an organization; nope, they washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and sing about salvation belonging to God and the Lamb. Again, no mention of an organization. And 2 Cor 4:1-5 is a real gem.
1Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
Sorry it's off topic, but I love doing that! They twist things so much to fit their beliefs.
Jgnat: you better start looking for a hair shirt! Don't you know JW's are the happiest people on earth?

Wouldn't lowering the bar cause them more problems later on? I wonder if they've thought this one through.
was there a person, a book, a situation that helped you see that the "truth" was not what it was supposed to be?
?.
When I got df'd, I also got kicked out of my parents' house. I stayed on several friends couches. These people had known me for less than 4 months, and they offered. One friend let me stay at his apartment while he was out of the country. He barely knew me.
It took a while before I realized what that meant. People I had known all my life turned their backs on me after an announcement, people I barely knew offered me the help I needed, just because I needed it. That's unconditional love right there.
my son wants to say hi to everyone on the forum.
as one of the main drivers to us exiting the cult he is very excited about never going to a meeting again.. if i knew how to load pictures i would let you see his plan for christmas lights next year.
apparently we are having a sleigh with reigndeers.
Hey little can'tleave! Meetings always bored me too. I spent most of them pretending my hands were dinosaurs, battling each other on the armrests or my lap, lol!
Your Christmas decoration plans sound awesome! There's a place here that has tons of lights and decorations ever year. I hope the photo works. It's huge! You can make out one house, and there's another outside the photo to the left. The whole place is covered with lights and decorations. It's awesome!
It didn't work. Here's the link, if you want to check it out.
Are you going to play any sports this year?
a recent national geographic article pointed out the ominous implications of any continued explosive global growth population even as it approaches 7 billion... what about the planet's capacity to house anything like the numbers jws expect to see resurrected onto their "new earth?
".
Jehovah will make nearby planets habitable and teach them how to build spaceships to travel to them.

Yep. And if you were baptized in and left, you're a dog returning to your vomit; and you have no chance unless you return. Nice, isn't it? Funny thing is the Bible never mentions being part of an organization as a requirement for salvation. Not once.
There was a JW email forward going around about how the angels make note of the heart condition or response of each person's door* that's knocked on. Which begs the question of why anyone needs to knock on doors, the angels could just fly around making notes on people. Waste of time, I think.
*Edited: The person's heart, not the door's.
several shot at tuscon grocery .
several people were shot saturday at a grocery store in tucson, arizona, a spokesman for the pima county sheriff's department said.. the shooting occurred at a safeway shortly after 10 a.m. mst, according to sheriff's spokesman deputy jason ogan.. a couple of victims with gunshot wounds have arrived at northwest medical center, according to spokesman richard parker.. "they've been coming in the last 10 minutes.
i'm not sure of the severity of their injuries," he said.. ogan said the motive for the shooting is unclear.. "we're just trying to sort this out right now," he said.. .
It's time for both sides to calm down, shut up, and start listening.
Start listening to who?
In a democracy, the people they represent. No one's been listening to us for a very long time.
