OMG, really?

Chemists, biochemists and molecular scientists in the most advanced laboratory setups cannot even synthesize a living cell, even if you supply all the necessary ingredients. They cannot even synthesize RNA, an absolute necessary for a cell to function. They are not even close.

Wait. Wait. Are you meaning to tell me that if you put a slurry of amino acids, lipids, and proteins into a jar, it won't spontaneously create cellular life?! Are you sure? Did they shake it hard enough?

Abiogenesis: Origin of life from living matter. And a living entity must:
1) Be responsive to its environment.
2) Grow and change.
3) Be able to reproduce.
4) Have a metabolism and breathe.
5) Maintain homeostasis (steady internal physical and chemical condition)..
6) Be made up of cells.
7) Be passing traits to offspring.
Like your elder friend, if they accomplish the above, I will become a believer.

Pfft. Lol. And I'll believe when God creates a married bachelor.

Nope. Didn't attack the guy. I attacked his line of reasoning. All fair game.

By the way MeanMrMustard, what he's saying: In the primordial soup would have to be many atoms and molecules that would have to be combined to start off life. Although millions of combinations being possible, only one combination would sustain life, e.g., the naturally occurring D-ribose sugar in DNA, RNA and ATP (see Wikipedia). What's the chance of that? But I'm afraid, only an experienced chemist would be able to work this out. So ask for a (chemist) friend.

I know what he's saying. He frames it all at the start with the " attributes of life". Its then used to do the same trick you've tried above: namely, there was a "soup" and then POOF! - fully formed DNA, RNA, ATP in cells. No intermediates, no process. No other possibilites. And then you coyfully ask "What's the chance of that?" It really sound like deception mixed with the old "irreducibly complex" argument.

This reminds me of the an elder I once talked to about evolution, and the proof needed for him to accept it. His answer was as soon as 'we have an example of a monkey giving birth to a human', then he would be willing to belive it. Didn't matter that nobody was claiming that should ever happen, and it would pretty much disprove evolution of it did.

You are making the same logical mistakes...

You didn't even say what happened, when, where or how.

Yeap. We All knew it was coming. Try to hide the video where he explicitly admits to forking sex workers "definitely over 20" periodically (but somehow not regularly), over years of time, but especially during the Christmas holiday in Thailand. All because he doesn't have, nor does he think it is possible to have, "mastery of his penis".

Kinda hard (no pun intended) to keep up (ok, this time I intended the pun) this argument when all claims of defamation originate with his own words.

And I tried to watch. But here, I could see the poisoning of the well within the first 10 minutes or so. And I've seen essentially the same arguments that follow.

Molecules don't care for [doesn't encourage] life processes because of endless molecular combinations...

So limited configurations would encourage life?

Even if the right molecular combinations are achieved, these have a half life, which deteriorates quickly. E.g. RNA is very unstable and cannot be sustained outside the cell (as we found out with the MRNA "vaccines" which need to be protected by man-made nanolipids).

So the "right" molecules have to come together instantly, without any intermediates, no time span with those intermediates, to form complete cells (because chemicals don't "care"), and that's the only possible process by which life can arise?

Did Anyone Have Fun With Their Field Service Reports?

now that there is new light on reporting hours in field service, it's raised a few questions for me, who was never in the jws.

did any of you ever have fun with the field service report slips, by finding creative ways of reporting time without raising suspicions in those who oversaw the collection of those slips?.

also, can anyone upload an image of what the slips looked like, or point me to a post that gives uploaded examples of the sort of paperwork that was familiar to jws in good standing?.

I often wondered what would happen if you started turning in reports for other people. You know, just make stuff up. Like turn in a real detailed report for one of the elders, but do it before the end of the month so that the secretary would get the fake report first. Then when the real one came in, it would look sparse and pitiful compared to the real detailed one.

Or report "eleventy seven" for someone not even in the congregation.

What I mean is:

1) I read your paragraph first, assuming it was a brief teaser of the main point of the video. I found myself asking immediately if the statement "molecules don't care about life" is really meaningful at all in this context. It begs the question of an intelligent design argument. How? Well, the only thing that can "care" about anything is intelligence, and if that's "the problem", then you assume before you start that life needs an intelligent designer. Word salad.

2) I watched the first part of the video where the speaker definitely the "minimum characteristics of life" as needing cells, and then immediately shuts down objection to the argument he knows is coming by claiming anyone that might question that is simply "redefining official terms". And right at the beginning he puts a hurdle in front of the other sides argument. What a horrible strawman. Again - word salad.

It was at this point that I just stopped and posted my previous statement.

That absolutely happened. I heard it first hand in car groups. The previous owners may have to be removed and thrown onto the streets for the birds to eat before the new owner could get in there to switch out the drapes (not my words). Then everyone in the car would drive to Dunkin Donuts for a "break".
