Can you be a JW in good standing and NOT go door to door?
by Terry inthe 2nd president of the watchtower bible and tract society, j.f.rutherford was criticised by some elders in the (then) independant congregations for urging members to go door to door while neglecting to do so himself.
rutherford responded:.
frequently some elder says: the president of the society does not go from house to house selling books.

Wow! Terry! I've never seen that quote before.......Of course, what Rutherfraud really meant was:
The Lord has graciously given me about as much as one man can well do. When I have looked after the management of the work at headquarters with its many departments; when I have given attention to a voluminous mail; when I have managed thirty odd branch offices in different parts of the earth and kept in close touch with them by correspondence and examination of their reports, and given advice and counsel as to what shall be done; when I have given attention to many legal matters that have arisen against members of the Society by reason of the opposition of the enemy; when I have given counsel to the various parts of the radio work; when I have prepared copy for The Watch Tower and other publications; and occasionally written a book or booklet and followed it progress through the manufacturing thereof; and when I have attended to many other details, Ensuring that I have plenty of good Canadian whiskey that's been smuggled across the border, I have not had very much time to go from door to door. If all of your time is as fully occupied in some part of the Lord's service trying to obtain illegal alcohol from another country so that my mistress and I can booze it up on a regular basis, then you have no time either to go from house to house.

CO visit. New light
by 2tone inif you want to skip to the new light or understanding, its underlined for you pleasure.
i think some will find this interesting.
we had the co tonight.

Mary
How can this CO get ahead of wts? I don't remember this new light being anywhere in a wt so is he the only CO telling this or has anyone else heard this from any other CO visit?
I can't imagine any loyal CO trying to pass off his own personal ideas as "new light from the Slobbering Body Members"----there'd be no quicker way for him to end his career in the Organization. Plus, I think they like to test the waters before putting it in to print just to see what the reaction of the R&F will be. Not only that but they know full well it'll be posted on JWN, JWFacts and FreeMinds.org before the ink is dry on the WT.
So Jesus hasn't sat down on his throne yet eh? So if he hasn't started ruling as king since 1914, then what exactly has he been doing for the past 98 years? Working out how to make an 'overlapping generation' work? Just unbelievably retarded........
I think the morons at the top realize that the R&F are losing faith in their nonsense, which is why they are re-emphasizing more and more 'blind obedience' to the Governing Body members---no questions asked. And while their statement that you can't see the F&DS is absurd, there's method to their madness in stating this.
One of the things that kept the British Monarchy up on a pedestal for so long was the idea that they should not be 'seen' very often in public. "We must not let in daylight upon magic." The public knew they were there behind palace walls, but the vast majority of them had never actually seen them---it gave a sense of awe and reverance to the whole set-up. I believe the Organization is trying to do the same thing. The vast majority of Witnesses today have never seen a member of the Governing Body, even though they know they're there behind the walls of Crooklyn New Jerusalem. For many Witnesses, it adds a sense of awe and reverance to the whole set up and puts the GB basically on the same playng field as Jesus.
It should be interesting to see how this plays out in any future WT study articles. While they're trying to sound authoritive, their "new light" is getting more and more ridiculous every time they open their mouths.
Thanks for posting that!

Sparks are gonna fly in my home
by marriedtoajw inas i've mentioned in a previous post, my wife has been sending mixed signals to me for years on what she does concerning violating jw rules.
what i didn't mention at the time was that she has also gone through gung ho sprees from time to time.
she is now insisting on taking the kids to the hall.

Troubledmind, your story is so sad. And altogether too familiar amongst ex-Witnesses. The boyfriend of a friend of mine (Rob) has an ex-wife who became a Witness and is raising their two young kids to be Witnesses. Rob's ex moved 100 miles away with the kids so he only sees them every other weekend. I'm thinking of talking to him about trying to get them more often because the poor guy has no idea that his ex will be raising those kids to see their father as 'part of Satan's world' and will probably have very little to do with him when they grow up.
When Gumby's hypocritial family helped him get re-instated, (even though they knew he was an 'apostate'), they assured him that once in, he could do The Fade again, and they would still be able to socialize with him. Of course, once he was back in, their story changed and his creepy son-in-law told him to his face that they only said that because they figured he would re-embrace their bullshit once he was back in and under no circumstances would Gumby be allowed to see his grandkids if he stopped attending the meetings. The lot of them make me sick.
Mouthy does not see her daughter, her granddaughter or her great-granddaughter who are all in Montreal (I think). Even though the granddaughter got pregnant out of wedlock (still a big no-no in WT world) and is living with a guy, she also won't have anything to do with her grandmother because she's an "apostate" (although she has no problem accepting $$$ from Mouthy).
What a screwed up cult.

$49 for the World Wide Work/ one month.
Didn't Charles Russell say something once about if the day comes when Jehovah doesn't provide the funding anymore, they'll close the doors? Maybe he actually got one prediction right. LOL.

When we pray for deliverance from a troublesome situation, it is wise to examine our motives. Are we concerned exclusively with getting relief from the problem, or do we keep Jehovah and his purpose in mind?
Ya, how totally selfish of someone who's lost their job and has no way to provide for their family, or someone whose child has been diagnosed with cancer, to pray to God solely for "getting relief". Apparently that's supposed to take a backseat to "his purpose" which He could fix immediately if He wanted to.
Personal suffering can easily cause us to get so caught up in our own situation that concern over spiritual matters fades into the background. When praying to God for help, let us keep our mind focused on Jehovah, the sanctification of his name, and the vindication of his sovereignty. Doing so can help us to maintain a positive outlook even if the solution that we hope for fails to materialize.
What total crap. If Jehovah wants sooooo badly to have his name 'sanctified' and his position 'vindicated', then why doesn't he just frigging well do it? Even when I was a practicing Witness, I found it incredibly difficult to believe that we were allowed to suffer in order for 'His name to be sanctified'. One has nothing to do with the other. And I love the last part that people should "...maintain a positive outlook even if the solution that we hope for fails to materialize."
Um, if there's no answer to your prayer, they why bother praying? What good does it do?
What a dumb-assed article.........Blondie, our thanks that you were able to endure it.
