does anyone know if it is common practice for jws to take down or remove photos of dfd or dad family members within their homes?.
if so, is there any basis for this practice within wt literaturetm?
or is it simply a matter of "going beyond the things written" in order to hurt and disrespect the target, and extended family members who have close ties to the target?.
I can assure you that the pictures of DA'd people comes off the walls.

i was dfd in 1995 however i still believed it was the truth until 2009. and until then i was fearful of armageddon's day.. i remember every time i'd see a dark sky with thunders and lighting i would question if that was it.
the news of any major disaster, hurricanes earthquakes would ignite fear inside me and i would think that could be the beginning of the end.. when i was around 8 i remember going to visit my grandma and she was watching the news.
a major conflict in the middle east had ended and some president said that the world was not in peace.
Armageddon always terrified me. I eventually put it out of my mind, and convinced myself that it was a LONG way off. But the thought was never far from my mind that when things started to lead into Armageddon, I was gonna have to spring into full steam ahead mode.

some witnesses seem to revel in the suffering of others.
they have a bible study and they tell everyone in the congregation all their personal confidences ie: how many times divorced, whether they are using drugs, how many kids they have and who the fathers are and if they are on welfare etc.
man, i tried hard not to.
Yep, this is a HUGE problem. I did it plenty of times. However, towards the end of my pioneer career I realized how disrespectful that was and tried not to do it. But plenty of JWs still do it.

if you think through the jw belief system, we would have to renounce sexual relations forever to get into the new system.
jw's believe that those coming back in a resurrection will not be married or given in marriage.
Mrs. Peck: I am mostly being humorous in this topic. But it is the JW belief that nobody who is resurrected will ever be able to get married in their new system. So in view of the fact that Armageddon isn't right around the corner as they have been preaching for 130+ years, everybody alive now in this religion will eventually die, as they all have up til now, therefore they would be dependent on a resurrection, and thus be prohibited from sex in their new world.
It's like all their other beliefs. If you write them down on paper and draw them out, none of them add up.

Well said Snoozy.
:-)
George of England: Maybe I should have been referring to the scripture itself that says those in the resurrection will not be married or given in marriage. I know I've heard it discussed many times at meetings, but I don't have the reference to anything specific. I never really believed any of it on this topic. It all sounded a little to far-fetched to me. Well, I guess I believed it, but the things that didn't make sense I kinda pushed aside and tried not to think about.
Thanks for the comments everybody!

All these people running around talking about surviving will be long gone in a few years. Therefore, they lost out.

FYI:
If you think through the JW belief system, we would have to renounce sexual relations forever to get into the new system. JW's believe that those coming back in a resurrection will not be married or given in marriage. In their new system, nobody would be able to have sex outside of marriage, as that is grossly wrong. Those of us on the outside know that Armageddon isn't going to cut out lives short. Therefore the only way into the New System would be through their resurrection. So, no sex. And what about the 20 billion that have died. No sex for them either.

Love it!
a jw told me a while back as i was leaving - "you will never find friends in the world that are like those in the organiation".. i smiled to myself and thought "god, i hope not".
.
lol.
I threw so many gatherings at my house...nobody else rarely every did anything or invited us. The ones who did wanted me to bring my WT and study it as a group. I would be thinking "i can barely stand to sit through a wt study on sunday, much less on saturday night".
