The kids are doing great, I am doing great. The ex is still a JW, so her fate is in her hands.

Notes from my Judicial Committee (I was DF'ed at the end)
by notverylikely inthese are the details of my disfellowshipping.
the names and locations have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty.
my errors are not hidden in an attempt to make me look better, this simply is a presentation of the facts that led up to the disfellowshipping and a re-telling of the contents of the meeting.. .

Thanks. I've been out for about two months now and I absolutely don't miss it at all. Not the friends, the gatherings, none of it.

by cofty ini would like to propose an ethical dilemma for those who believe in the divine inspiration of the bible.. in the following scenarios i am not asking you what you would have done but rather, what you hope you would have had the courage to do.. scenario 1. you are camped on the east side of the jordan waiting for orders to cross into the promised land.
moses is nearing the end of his life but he has some unfinished business to take care of before he hands over to joshua.
he announces that he has had an instruction from god to take revenge on the midianites before he dies.

Pluse he probably had a thing for Mary ;)
That would make me like him a whole lot more.
Unless you mean his mom, in which case, ew.

If We Were to Take the Flood Account Literally..
by Yan Bibiyan inthen i cant help but come to the conclusion that everyone who died (like 99.999% of humanity at the time) was doomed from the start.. if god directed noah to build a flotation device with very specific parameters, god must have known exactly how many people, animal species, plant etc, would be in it.. what if people actually listened to noah and thousands upon thousands turned up waiting to enter the ark?
god must have known that only so many people will listen and obey instructions.. no to mention that noahs message didnt really reach that many people.
at that time how many people could have heard it?

The implication, as I understood it, is that after the very first living cell, subsequent generations are pretty much thought to have always evolved in groups rather than individuals and/or pairs.
Ah, gotcha.
That is the general consensus.
Excellent point it is.
Sometimes I get lucky and find a good point.

You keep saying ignoring and I am wonder what is being ignored?
Ignored might not be the right word, perhaps "deciding it's not right because it doesn't fit your idea of Jesus" would be better :)
Link please?
Research Buddha, Akkadian Councils of Wisdom, golden rule on Wikipedia, look through my pasts posts. I rarely post so that should be no big deal :)
Via a process of self denial and denial of love? ( love is after all the cause of suffering).
Kinda like, I dunno, Jesus, who denied himself for the many and who, apparently, never loved a woman?

I answered that above:
Sorry, missed it! Thanks!
So I see it as a universal truth - and think that there is no reason that others would not have seen this truth at some point in the past.
It's certainly not universal and others DID discover, practice and teach it prior to Jesus.
I agree it IS the better way, but you don't need Jesus to get there.

It is not muddled and blurred to me, it is quite simple actually BUT it does require some faith.
And ignoring large parts of the bible and accepting others as true. I agree, it does require faith.
There was preaching of love ofr your fellow man or brother, yes, but that didn't extent to all.
Yes they were. I have written on this extensively.
There was preaching for man to be better so he could be a great hero, a great warrior, a great leader, not preaching that a lowly leper was to be blessed by God and would be as great as a Heracles.
Buddha pre-dates Jesus and was teaching love, peace and humility.

microbes were the only life for it to be possible and even then it seems unlikely.
Why does that seem unlikely?
I think nvl and jag need to call a truce here.
There is no war, therefore no need for a truce.
Unless one majors in a biological science, it is extremely unlikely that one would be exposed to this level of detail as regards evolution and genetics.
You can always do what I do and read.
it wouldn't be unheard of to have a teacher in a freshman biology class (or anatomy/physiology class) "simplify" things by referring to single pairs of proto-dogs and other such inaccurate things.
Anatomy is a very specific course that doesn't in any way get into that subject material. A genereal biology class would and that would inclide basic genetics like recessive and dominant genes, basic anatomy, basic cell structure, etc., but an ANATOMY class would not cover genetics.
When you claim some authority on a subject because you took a class in college a long time ago, make sure you know WTF you're talking about is my basic point. Don't try to tell me that you learned how to cook a steak in a baking class.
And that last part wasn't really directed at you, Mad.

I think its a MUCH better explanation for out-of-body and near-death experiences than "the demons are playing tricks on you to get you to believe in an immortal soul".... don't you?
No. I think it's a bunch of bunk. Both of them.

Not the accuracy of the bible. The truth of Christ.
Well, the issue is that because of the false stylus, we really can't KNOW if he is the truth.
because anything that contradicts Him is not truth
Circular logic, tec.
