You're absolutely right. You know, it's funny. Most religions - even some cults - will acknowledge that it's normal, human, and OK to question what you believe or have doubts, even if leaving has negative consequences. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall a single piece of WT literature that said it is ever, EVER - in ANY given scenario or under ANY circumstances - OK or acceptable to doubt or question the F&DS/GB (usu. as much as, if not more than "Jehovah", who we all know in WT parlance are identical and inseparable), nor is it ever, EVER - in ANY given scenario or under ANY circumstances - OK or acceptable to leave/disassociate. I mean, can you recall anything they've ever said to that effect? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they haven't. Probably because their doctrine has become so increasingly indefensible over the last few decades, Scripturally, logically, or otherwise. And that's probably why the WT makes no serious attempts at apologeticism and why any remotely capable or intelligent WT apologists (who have ALWAYS proved to be far more capable apologists than the current GB), i.e. Greg Stafford, usually end up leaving or get kicked out.

"It's up to You"- the one choice the Society never gives you
by JimmyPage inmy jw wife babysits from time to time, usually non-jws.
apparently my daughter was indoctrinated to the evils of halloween recently because one of the "worldly" kids mentioned it and she told him it was bad.
(although when i'm with her alone, she totally loves the holiday).. this non-dub kid said, "no it's not bad.

Heavenly Gates Closed in 1935 Re-opened in 2007
by Alfred insince 1935, the watchtower had been categorically teaching (for over 6 decades) that the heavenly calling of the 144,000 anointed christians had ceased in 1935. this teaching was especially significant to older jws (especially those who spent much of their lives serving the watchtower as pioneers, elders, missionaries, bethelites, etc.
) because many of these would eventually turn their attention to the aging governing body members and feel a sense of relief knowing that the end was drawing ever so near.
in other words, as more governing body members (who were born before 1935) passed away, the closer they would get to their long-awaited reward of surviving armageddon and living on paradise earth where they would finally hug grass-eating lions near a waterfall while marveling at snow-peaked mountains in the distance.

When you really think about their wack-ass doctrine, as long as some who are "called" fall away, there will always be a need for replacements - so the heavenly chariot - which apparently has a limited capacity - could theoretically stay up there forever with winged folk perpetually getting kicked out then replaced. Like overlapping generations, it could potentially go on until the end of time.
Oh crap, I hope I haven't given the GB any ideas...

Watchtower & the Illuminati
by skeeter1 ini first heard of the illuminati in, about 1979. a tape of a man named john todd was given to my family.
john todd said he was a defector of this secret society (notice the word, "society").
he did not mention the jehovah's witnesses.

Yeah, I have a really hard time believing Ray never witnessed so much as a glimpse of these things. But then, on the other hand, I also have a hard time believing that ALL of the conspiracy stuff was completely and totally fabricated from thin air.
There are some lies in "the truth" and some truth in "the lies". 'Twixt the valley of both extremes you'll usually find the closest thing to reality there is. Leastwise that's been my experience, for the most part.

Some pretty blatant stuff coming up in bookstudy
by agent zero inso i was reading ahead in the bookstudy book "bearing thorough witness" about god's kingdom, and i came upon some shockingly direct damage control on behalf of the gb in the material for the upcoming weeks.. on page 104: what a privilege it is to be instructed and molded by our patient and kind heavenly father!
the results are always good and always to our advantage.
so let us never proudly push ahead with our own ideas or react negatively to organizational changes or to adjusted explanations of certain scriptures.

As much as the WT hates Santa Claus, they may get off on a technicality because of a Sanity Clause...

I dunno. Maybe I just should take my own advice, sit back, and enjoy the fireworks.

It's not the old-timers I'm concerned about. It's primarily the kids that are being pressured into this thing. How many more 6-and-7 year olds do we have to hear about getting dunked?

I tell you what though, in the age of the internet, there's no way in hell they can survive another Ray Franz-level defection. Not for long, and not in any meaningful way. And I'm pretty sure Jaracz hand-picked guys who would ensure that any dissent would not be tolerated.

palm,
You're probably right. I think we're about to reach the tipping point... all evidence seems to point that way. It's like one foot is trying to step into the mainline and one slips back further into the dark ages. I don't know how much longer they can do the foxtrot without either WWCOG-level reform or implosion (I think we're seeing much more evidence of the latter).
